On January 8th, 2026, Blackened posted this video about his discovery of cancelling the laboratory experiments early, which allows you to reroll experiments:
This experiment has been shown to have its limitations (very difficult to read the last effect while still maintaining the ability to cancel, limited rerolling, etc.), but for Dare% speedruns would, if not make any individual run faster, cut down on the luck necessary to get good or WR times.
Due to the fact we do not own the Discord space where most Blue Prince speedrun activity is discussed (and, perhaps controversially, I would move to having our own Discord server, but irrelevant), we have not run any polls, had any official discussion on the matter, and the best I can figure is that "the vibe is that everyone is cool with it" - a statement lacking nuance or meaning.
Can we get the ball rolling on some form of strawpoll to explicitly allow or deny this glitch in the category currently marked as Dare%, where the rules, as they currently stand, disallow it?
Given that Dare Mode is an extreme amount of RNG already, I don't personally have any problems allowing it entirely, as long as we can do it on all releases of the game (PC, console, etc.)
I have confirmed this glitch is possible on console (Xbox Series X). As Gelly said, it cuts down luck and there is a skill to it, meaning the spirit of 'speedrunning' is maintained. I would also opt for this to be allowed across all categories, as it has quite an impact on Curse% as well.
Hi everyone,
the game is released today (in 40 minutes no less) and during the first month of release, no speedruns will be accepted. We will update the rules and categories. In the meantime, avoid spoilers and enjoy the game!
