Hello, runners! New changes regarding DPI settings and the permissible value were introduced today. Now is allowable value for phones is 420 units, and 320 for tablet devices.
Old runs which use 600 dpi was moved to the new categories (Legacy 600). We have updated these rules to use the standard DPI value for the majority of mobile devices with HD screens, as the previous value of 600 was intended more for QHD screen resolution.
These are all the new changes to the rules, If you have questions, this little FAQ section is for you:
- Why even mess with the 600 DPI units when is already good?
They are not good, they require less skill in gain start speed. Setting 600 DPI offers a significant speed advantage for most standard phones, allowing for maximum speed with literally a single swipe, while more noticeable effect on tablets.
- Why added a DPI rule for tablets?
Also we thought about tablet players, so their DPI settings now separate from settings of phone players to balance speed acceleration across different types of devices. (so most standart for tablets is 320).
- What if my device standart is big more that 420 dpi value? (QHD screen)
For your device the choice category is Legacy, there maximum limit is 600 DPI units fot this category, but still the main categories would be use a 420 / 320 DPI.
- How to change DPI on iOS?
It doesnt apply to iPhone and IPad, this affect only players with Android and Devices that allow change DPI settings.

The speedrun.com leaderboards have been updated. We are now paying more attention to the screen setting (DPI) issue.
We have rejected many runs that abused this setting, making the competition in the main categories more equal and skill based. Some high DPI runs were left in the leaderboard as an exception, because their speed gain wasn't too strong compared to others.
This only affects Speedrun, Surf, Parkour, Deathrun and Casual categories.
❗However, at the same time we had to increase the requirements for WORLD RECORDS in these categories. Now, if you play on Android, you need to prove that you have not exceeded the allowed limit of 600 dpi. To be completely sure, you need to post in the description the original unedited recording, which shows how much DPI you have set, as well as how you enter the game with it❗This excludes the possibility of cheating.
❕Doesn't apply for iOS players and runs with worse speed gain❕
