So I been wanting to figure out what a 100% of this game would look like. But I am unsure of all the quest and side quest. I also am unsure of any special items, outside of the backpack that becomes available half way into the game.

I hope to buy both guides, specifically the Tenerezza Official Fan Book (image below). And scan that in for people to reference and translate. Been on my "too eventually buy" list, but certain life things take priority. Hopefully once I can obtain the guide, might make this easier.

However, I want to try and collectively figure out what a 100% would look like. Which might be brute forcing the figuring out what 100% would be.

-------------------------------------------

To start, There is a Monster Encyclopedia in the game (image and location of the book below). Obviously filling that out is part of 100%.

I know the main quest line needs to be done.

And I know there are some side quest, as my initial any% did an option quest. So we know of one side-quest. I think there probably some quest in the building left of the intersection, opposite of the shop. I think some of the NPCs might give quest. (I have yet to test this. Hoping for my winter break to give me some real time to note down all quest)

There is a video guide playlist from G0EM0NB0Y ( https://www.youtube.com/@G0EM0NB0Y ) That looks to have a lot of quest that I haven't done. So this is a great reference point to track all quest. I'll eventually get around to making a spreadsheet of quest, and locations, and any conditions to start. Though I'd be grateful if anyone else could aid in that.

PLAYLIST ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL22F8C57EF2FA8F6C )

-------------------------------------------

What a 100% "Currently" Would Consist Of

  1. All Side-Quest
  2. All Main Scenario Quest
  3. 100% Monster Encyclopedia

-------------------------------------------

What else would we expect for a 100% run?

Like should we add any special items? Such as the Backpack.

The cooking stuff? Not sure if there are recipes to unlock, or if there anything achieved by making 1 of each recipe.

Would we separate New Game+ and New Game or just have one 100% category and it be either New game or New Game+? I would thing 100% would be a regular New Game experience. But I am not against it being a New Game+ category (be it sole or split category)

I'd appreciate any thoughts and assistance in figuring this out. So we can properly have a 100% leaderboard down the line.

Interesting! I do think a 100% category would make a great addition to the board because it turns out there's quite a lot more to this game than just what we see in the Any% route. In fact as part of my routing for NG and NG+ categories I went looking for as much information as I could find about available item pickups, gear upgrades, side quests, and anything else I could find that might have been a help for Any%.

Some of the resources I found for that hunt, since these players guides and general game info could end up being quite relevant to this:

In regards to what else should be considered, I know there are quite a few cooking recipes that are unlocked or learned over the course of the game. And if I'm not misremembering two of them conflict where you're only able to get one or the other depending on who you side with in a side quest from Tene's mailbox where you help settle a dispute.

It probably wouldn't be unreasonable to require learning all recipes (minus any that might be locked out from choosing a different one), but I don't think I'd go so far as to require actually cooking them.

But yeah either way I'd probably want to try to confirm with a Japanese speaker or two about the full criteria since I don't think I could confirm whether or not a run has missed any side quests with confidence.

Either way though, I think 100% will end up being really interesting because it's going to make it a lot more feasible to route in some of the various equipment pieces that show up as quest rewards with some really nice effects. For example there's an amulet that doubles Tene's magic damage. Pair that with the magic mushrooms available from the shop and Tene can crank out some 4x damage up to x8 if she crits, leading to some hilariously short boss fights.

I thought there were recipes to unlocked, glad I wasn't mistaken on that front. And these player guides are helpful with figuring some of these out!

I see in the first link there a section that gets translated to "Street Name", the URL shows Nickname. (https://www.onuchinfactory.com/game/Tenerezza.html#nickname)

So there another aspect to unlock, which some of these seem simple enough (though I using google translate for the pages. So I can only assume a bit of this isn't fully right). Defeat 100 monsters, Learn 8 Dishes (I assume recipes).

Though guess it depends if those street names/nicknames can be seen when they are unlocked. Which I guess might be in the regular menu. (But I can't read japanese, and translation tools can only really give a broad sense of what things say. So not the most reliable method to search the menus and any dialogue.)

Also the first guide points out "Forbidden Spells" or combination spells. The second guide calls them curse spells. BUT THERE ARE OTHER SPELLS THAN THE ONES YOU GET THROUGH NORMAL LEVELING!!!

And I agree with wanting to confirm with those who can aid with reading the native language, to help with confirming any 100% aspect of the game. be it side quest, unlocks, etc. Which hopefully having access to an official guide book will be helpful with knowing what is in the game. Since player guides can miss things and overlook others. And I am aiming for getting that official fan book next year, hopefully early next year. After the holidays and acquiring the final parts for my new PC build./ (God the ram prices right now.... painful. Worst time to decide my decade old rig needs to be replaced.)

But these links are a great start! This upcoming holiday weekend, I'll make a resource document and archive these sites and start trying to create a rough documentation process for this 100% Project. Guess I'll use GDoc/GSheets, to make it easier for any collaboration.

Though I recall reading somewhere there was a means to look at what was unlocked, but I can't find the source. (Which a few english Tenerezza guides are lost, I found one via wayback machine and reached out to the site owner. But they don't have their guide from decade+ ago) But that might just be the Monster encyclopedia I am remembering, and not just a catch all log of unlocks. Though there has to be a means to check for those street names/nickname you can unlock... which, again, might just be in the basic start menu.

This is a great start Delcake! Thank you for helping with this.

Game could use a fan translation, lol. Hopefully someone takes up that mantel someday in the future. Cause sure isn't going to be me. My tech skills lean more towards hardware and networking, than it is software hacking. Lol. and doing anything with viewing hexadecimals in a hex editor.... yeah, no thanks. hahaha

Yeah! Those forbidden spells are actually pretty crazy, tucked away at the end of extra side zones that have specific side-quest requirements to even enter. They're effectively unlocking a level 4 charge for each magical element. One of them is even a self-heal.

Their damage might not be high enough to justify the long charge time in most cases, but still quite flashy.

And now that you mention it, those nicknames would definitely be worthy of inclusion. I don't know the requirements for all of them, but they're tracked in the Status section of the menu along with known magic spells and known recipes.

Here's an example from my casual save file I've got where I was exploring for all side-quests.

This menu can be reached from the fourth entry on the menu, ステータス. So a 100% run would probably need to show these menus for verification, but that might end up being a bit of a problem. Beating the game kicks us back to the start screen and unless we take the time to manually make a save to load after the run, we'd lose the chance to verify unless it's done before fighting the final boss while the timer is still running which is of course its own problem.

The monster encyclopedia can be viewed from the desk in Tene's room, so same deal where a runner will probably just menu through it to show completion.

And agreed, a fan translation mod would really be the dream. :D

I've done a little experimentation with dumping the game files and making small modifications, but so far all I've really been successful at doing is crashing the game when I try to reintegrate my changes. Ah well~

That a solid point, for how to validate and showcase the 100%. Since there not like a 100% progress bar on the save files, and it does boot you to the start screen.

I am planning to make a tracker with poptracker (Might have seen it or similar things used for rando's/certain speedruns), to be a means to help myself keep track visually of everything. Quest, monster kills, etc. So that way when I run a 100%, I have that tracker to, well, keep track of things.

But I would hesitate to have an additional 3rd party thing be required for any run. Since a timer, like livesplit, is required for proper time keeping.

And validating a 100% would require me to lock in and make a check list as I watch to make sure things get done/marked off.

Which isn't ideal for me, or for whoever wants to run the game. Already a pain to menu through things. Adds that unneeded time, but also be easy to manipulate. Doubly so since I can't read the language, so I could easily over look something.

You know, figuring out what 100%ing the game is, might be the easiest part of implementing a 100% run. lololol.
