Speedrunners ! Patch 1.007.000 brought a host of new content and shadowpatches.

Seed & Modifiers Scramble

Although duplicate operations on the same planet still occur, it is once again possible to keep a seed without the operation modifiers being randomized after the first reset, and without the seed itself being randomized.

Un-Scouted proofs remain the same as in their latest version.

New Illuminate Missions

8 new Illuminate missions are now live on the Main Board and Category Extensions.

All Illuminate Planets

  • Conduct Geological Survey (Diff 1-10)
  • Retrieve Valuable Data (Diff 1-10)

Void Only

  • Blitz: Destroy Warp Gateways (Diff 3-10)
  • Blitz: Suppress Toxic Pollination (Diff 3-10)
  • Destroy Gazer Spire (Diff 5-10)
  • Eradicate Illuminate Forces (Diff 3-10)
  • Extract Anomalous Material (Diff 3-10)
  • Infiltrate Illuminate Lair (Diff 1-10)

Democratize the Void (Void only) is a naming variant of Free Colony/Free the City.

Main Objective Shadowpatches & NMG Wipe

A handful of missions have been shadowpatched.

Main objectives reduced by 1:

  • Destroy Command Bunkers.
  • Nuke Nursery.
  • Restore Air Quality.
  • Seize Industrial Complex.

Main objectives reduced by half:

  • Annex Untapped Mineral Sites.
  • Confiscate Assets.

Other cases:

  • Commando: Acquire Evidence main objective is significantly longer because you have to keep the camera focused on each evidence for several seconds (attached video by Nephelym).
  • Free Colony/Free the City/Democratize the Void has once again 2 flags outside of Megacities.

While all these missions are now faster to complete, Commando: Acquire Evidence takes longer. Below is the list of affected runs.

For Free Colony/Free the City/Democratize the Void, since there is still a variant with a flag inside Megacities, we did not wipe NMG runs.

Headless Glitch

The Headless Glitch has been patched on 1.006.202. It's however posible to be Headless on later patches by doing the trick on a downpatched version, then moving back to a more recent one.

Another method has been spreading, and it implies manipulating save files. The mod team agrees on allowing its use as long as it stays withing the scope of what's possible without altering the game's files.

In other words: being Headless on a patch >=1.006.202 is allowed as long as the armor in the helmet/cape slot predates patch 1.006.202. Armors released after 1.006.202 must only be equipped in the chest slot.

As of the date of this announcement, every run using the Headless Glitch must show the Equipment tab in the loadout menu to show both armors. This rule is not retroactive.

We're working on a small application to make the whole process more convenient. Stay tuned!

Speedrunners, another bug that has existed since patch 1.006.000 has been discovered. Quitting the game while on a mission (whether to scout or simply because the game crashed) has an abnormally high chance of altering the mission modifiers.

After several hours of testing, here is what we know:

  • Megacities are not affected.
  • Operations that do not have an operation modifier to begin with are not affected (meteorological modifier only, Commando operation, low-level operation, planet under defense, etc.).
  • Running an operation without ever quiting the game will keep the modifiers as they are (so Un-Scouted runs are safe).
  • After you quit the game once, quitting the game again will not change the modifiers again. You are stuck with the new modifiers.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to identify a pattern in how the modifiers change. You can select 4 different Super Helldive Terminids operations with the same 2 modifiers (for example, Orbital Fluctuations and Complex Stratagem Plotting) and get 4 different results after quitting the game (see attached images). In rare cases, the modifiers will not change, but in the vast majority of cases, at least one of them will change.

If you’re scouting seeds, keep in mind that modifiers aren't stable (they will be after your first reset or if you complete another mission in the same operation) and that you should expect both good and bad surprises (Complex Stratagem Plotting appearing or disappearing).

An inconsistency has been found in the display of the final timer. Since patch 1.006.000, all runs where you extract with Pelican show an extra 2 seconds during the recap.

For example, the last frame of this run before the Pelican takeoff cutscene displays 25:05:35, which, when subtracted from the 40-minute mission time, gives 14 minutes 54 seconds. However, the stats screen displays 14m 56s.

We have therefore re-timed all affected runs by subtracting 2 seconds. You may of course continue to submit runs where you extract with Pelican. We encourage you to double-check your final time, for example using a frame-by-frame navigation tool and a time calculation tool. We will continue to time runs based on the last frame where the timer appears when entering Pelican/after depleting the last reinforcement.

As of today, Any% runs where you end the mission without extracting are not affected.

Speedrunners! A lot has happened, and we have a few major changes to announce.

NMG runs moved/rejected due to an increased number of outposts

If you have had runs rejected recently, this is why. Since patch 1.006.001, ArrowHead has announced a change "across all factions to increase the intensity on high difficulties". As a result, the number of outposts has been increased for all factions, on all missions, and even at minimum difficulty levels.

This change is significant enough to create a time gap for 100% completion. We have therefore decided to move 100% runs to Unrestricted/reject NMG runs prior to patch 1.006.001. Wiping a run history like this is never pleasant, but the NMG category needs to remain fair. The list of affected runs is attached, and if any changes occur again, they will be restored.

Restoration of Un-Scouted Proofs

Operation duplication on all planets since patch 1.004.100 is no longer an issue, but there is still a duplication phenomenon on a planetary scale. However, we have found a way to restore previously invalid Un-Scouted proofs (Back and Forth, Abandon Operation). Please note that there is a specific procedure to follow, so be sure to read the rules carefully.

New mission added

With the release of Cyberstan came a new mission, "Halt Cyborg Production" (Min Difficulty: 4, Max Difficulty: 10). It is now live on the Main Board and Category Extensions!

NMG restrictions for Sabotage Air Base

On top of adding a second Air Base Tower, the Sabotage Air Base mission now has extra terminal steps: you have to interact with the SSSD box to open it and solve the Cyborg puzzle. It's therefore banned from NMG to run a earlier Sabotage Air Base version (without the extra terminal steps and/or with just one Air Base Tower).

Good news coming soon

Thanks to the work of leem919, Drem Caponera, and RawBeef, downpatching is possible again! We will provide a detailed guide on how to do so using the new method.

Automaton missions added

With the release of the new commando missions introduced 3 new missions that are now live on the Main Board and Category Extensions! The list of minimum and maximum difficulties has been updated.

  • Commando: Acquire Evidence

  • Commando: Extract Intel

  • Commando: Secure Black Box

Commando missions

Due to the commando missions forcing runners to extract, solo runs that are not 100% complete must be submitted to Any% (not Extract%). However, multiplayer runs may be submitted to Extract%.

Commando missions have introduced side objectives to Minimum Difficulty that 100% runs must complete. As per the dual submission rules dual submission is allowed from 100% to Extract% but not vice versa.

NMG: FRV reload

Since patch 1.005.002, reloading inside the FRV is once again possible by swapping weapons. FRV reloading is once again allowed across the boards.

Reminder that operation duplication is still effective as of today (patch 1.005.002). The Un-Scouted proof restrictions detailed for 1.004.100 apply as well.

New Infinite Reload Glitch Rules Added for NMG

A new glitch has been discovered with the One-Two assault rifle which allows you to infinitely reload weapons as well as have more than one round in the chamber at once. Due to this discovery the following rule has been added to NMG (100%, Any%, Extract%, Category Extensions etc.):

The Infinite Reload glitch is banned from NMG. Going forward all multiplayer NMG submissions on patch >=1.005.000 must show no One-Two equipped by any player via the loadout screen. If this is not shown or a One-Two is equipped, all POVs must be provided.

To reproduce the glitch, expend a One-Two grenade launcher round and start to reload it. Then press your 'Quick Weapon Wheel Down' key and switch weapons. The weapon you switched to will have one round reloaded. Repeat to store two rounds in the chamber.

Doing an additional reload after the first two and quickly shooting before the reload sound finishes can allow you to fire 3 in quick sucession.

Category Splits created for Tutorial Any% and Tutorial No OoB

To address differences between updates for the Tutorial, category splits were added for both the Any% and No OoB category.

Tutorial Any% had the runs split into Pre 1.004.100 and Post 1.004.100 with the following added to the rules:

Since patch 1.004.100 (Into the Unjust bug fix patch) the OoB spot near the barbed wire has been removed. To access a version with the old OoB still available you must downpatch to a version prior to 1.004.100, or prior to 1.003.000 for Mars and the barbed wire OoB.

Submit all runs done on an update >=1.004.100 to the Post 1.004.100 category. All runs on version <1.004.100 must be submitted to the Pre 1.004.100 category.

Tutorial No OoB had the runs split into Mars and Undisclosed Location with the following added to the rules:

Since the invasion of Super-Earth (patch 01.003.000), the Tutorial map has changed. If you want to access the Mars variant, follow this guide on downpatching and download patch 01.002.203 (all information has been included in the guide).

Submit all runs done on patches >=1.003.000 to the Undisclosed Location category. All runs on version <1.003.000 must be submitted to the Mars category.

The poll on Factory Strider's difficulty change led to discussions that went far beyond the scope of the original question. To broaden the accessibility of the categories, NMG/Unrestricted subcategories were added for Any% and Extract%.

All existing Any%, Extract% and Extract% Deathless (levels, operations, all factions) runs are now in the Unrestricted subcategory. It's up to runners to dual submit/resubmit their runs to NMG. Runs affected by the poll will be kept in Unrestricted. The old Factory Strider difficulties are banned from NMG overall.

We are maintaining the system of moving NMG runs invalidated by new patches to Unrestricted. Moving them to another category would ultimately reproduce the same kind of inequalities and a split patches system would not solve it.

Automaton missions added

The release of magma planets introduced 6 new missions that are now live on the Main Board and Category Extensions! The list of minimum and maximum difficulties has been updated.

  • Annex Untapped Mineral Sites
  • Blitz: Destroy Bio-Processors
  • Confiscate Assets
  • Rapid Acquisition
  • Sabotage Orgo-Plasma Synthesis
  • Seize Industrial Complex

NMG: disconnecting, FRV and Megacities

Since patch 1.005.000, Fortresses/Mega Nests have been removed from Megacities. Runs that were moved to Unrestricted/rejected for this reason have been restored.

Since patch 1.005.001, it's once again not possible to reload inside the FRV without having to come out through the window. This is once again part of the NMG restrictions.

Teammates are now allowed to disconnect in NMG, EXCEPT for Deathless categories.

To vote, join the official Discord server.

Since patch 1.004.000, the minimum and maximum difficulty levels have changed for the Eliminate Automaton Factory Strider mission.

Previously:

  • Min Diff · 4 | Challenging (with 1 Strider)
  • Max Diff · 5 | Hard (with 2 Striders)

Now:

  • Min Diff · 5 | Hard (with 1 Strider)
  • Max Diff · 6 | Extreme (with 2 Striders)

From one difficulty level to another, the number of outposts and optional objectives varies:

  • 4 | Challenging and 5 | Hard: 3 optional objectives, 2 light outposts, 1 medium outpost, 1 heavy outpost.
  • 6 | Extreme: 4 optional objectives, 1 light outpost, 2 medium outposts, 1 heavy outpost.

For the sake of fairness, running the old difficulties is banned from 100% No Major Glitches. The current poll is about the other categories: 100% Unrestricted, Any%, and Extract%. A total of 24 runs are concerned.

1. Either maintain the existing runs since the old difficulties are accessible through downpatch (like Sabotage Air Base with a single tower or the old version of Repel Invasion Fleet).

2. Or move all existing runs to Legacy Difficulties > Any Other Difficulty to only allow new difficulties.

Patch 1.004.100 brought many changes, and we had to make some decisions regarding verification:

Un-Scouted proof restrictions

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: this patch duplicates operations: all planets (depending on the faction, of course) have the same 3 operations (+1 identical operation in all Megacities). The only variation is whether the terrain is classic or colony terrain (see attached images for examples).

Operations are only reset under certain conditions. Therefore, the ONLY VALID UN-SCOUTED PROOFS SINCE PATCH 1.004.100 ARE:

  • Return to ship alone/Abandon mission with squad,
  • Completing another operation.

The following proofs are invalid since patch 1.004.100 but remain valid on other patches:

  • Back and forth,
  • Abandon operation message,
  • Green/red checkmark.

The only exception is Oshaune, as it spawns unique operations and is therefore not subject to duplication. You may use any proof to submit an Un-Scouted run on this planet.

The rules on SRC have been changed accordingly. Un-Scouted runs already submitted on this patch that have invalid proofs will be verified as Scouted. We apologize to the runners.

NMG/Unrestricted changes

Fortress/Mega Nest in Megacities

Automaton and Terminid Megacities now spawn Fortress/Mega Nest. To maintain fairness in the NMG category, runs submitted before this change have been moved to the Unrestricted category.

Reload in FRV

Reloading in the FRV from a passenger seat is now possible again. It is therefore no longer banned from NMG restrictions.

Sabotage Air Base

Sabotage Air Base now spawns 2 Air Base Towers (only outside of Megacities and at 9 | HELLDIVE and 10 | SUPER HELLDIVE). Running this mission with a single Air Base Tower (outside of Megacities) is banned from NMG.

The votes spoke for themselves and it's there: Hive Lord% has been added to the board!

Since it's a special category and not a "level" per se, it was added to the Leaderboards tab alongside categories such as Tutorial Any%/No OoB and Stratagem Hero.

Requirements

Mission and difficulty level don't matter. The Hive Lord has the same amount of HP regardless so it's up to you to run in the most optimized context.

Host POV and visible timer are required to time runs. Leniency rule will not apply. Showing the loadout screen is mandatory. The recording can end after the death of the Hive Lord, as long as the completion message box is recorded and game version had been shown.

Timing method

The time is calculated by adding the IGT (In-Game Time) elapsed prior to the HUD being visible on screen to the RTA (Real Time Attack) until the Hive Lord is killed.

  • Calculating IGT: subtract the difference of the total mission time vs. the time displayed on the first frame the numbers on the timer are legible.
  • Calculating RTA: time starts on the first frame the numbers on the timer are legible. Time stops on the first frame the completion message box "Killed Hive Lord" is visible.

See the Category rules for more info.

We strongly recommend you follow the guide to install the Cinematic mod speedrun addon to remove the fade-in that occurs at the beginning of every mission. While it is not mandatory to run this category, it greatly improves the precision of the timing method.

Happy Hive Lord hunting!

Meridia, Gloom and Hive World missions added

6 Gloom-exclusive missions 4 Hive World-exclusive missions and 3 Meridia event missions have been added to the main board and Category Extensions. Below is the detailed list.

Thanks to the hard work of @leem919 and @wernher, we now can play Meridia and Gloom missions (as well as Hive World missions if they were to disappear) at any time. A guide has been written on How to play Meridia and Gloom missions. The Min Difficulty & Max Difficulty list has been updated.

If you want to show them support, please consider giving them a tip on their ko-fi: leem's, wernher's.

Kill Hive Lord requirement

Hive World missions feature a hidden optional objective: Kill the Hive Lord. Since the game grants full XP without killing it, we have added a subcategory "No Hive Lord | Hive Lord" for 100%, 100% Deathless and 100% Un-Scouted.

Meridia NMG and Unrestricted

In order for the No Major Glitches category to be as representative as possible of the missions at the time they were playable in the game, to submit a Meridia mission run you must:

  • Play on patch 1.000.305
  • Use no glitches
  • Show all POVs (to ensure no one uses the Infinite grenade glitch)

This is why it was deemed more appropriate to move the existing Deactivate Terminid Control System runs to the NMG subcategory. For the 100% Unrestricted subcategory, you can play on any patch and use any glitch/exploit/skip.

PLEASE NOTE: on any patch prior to 1.001.002, the Maximum Difficulty is 9 | HELLDIVE. On any patch after 1.001.002, it is 10 | SUPER HELLDIVE.

List of missions added

Meridia:

  • Activate Terminid Control System
  • Deactivate Terminid Control System (added to Category Extensions, was already on main page)
  • Deploy Dark Fluid

Gloom:

  • Blitz: Secure Research Site
  • Chart Terminid Tunnels
  • Collect Gloom-Infused Oil
  • Collect Gloom Spore Readings
  • Collect Meteorological Data
  • Extract Research Probe Data

Hive world:

  • Conduct Mobile E-711 Extraction
  • Destroy Spore Lung
  • Extract E-711
  • Restart Pumps

Following the conclusion of the poll and no fix in version 1.004.000 (Into the Unjust), all No Major Glitches runs with the Pelican speed present in patches 1.003.000-1.003.1xx have been rejected.

However, the Pelican bug was added to the known issues with this mention:

  • Extraction Shuttle can sometimes clip into the ground while landing

It is unknown when or how this fix will be implemented, but if a future patch allows for fair competiton between current patch and runs with the speedy Pelican then the runs will be re-verified. For this reason, we ask that runners do not delete submissions which have been rejected since they may be re-added to the boards in the future.

Event Missions Coming Soon to Leaderboards

Due to recent discoveries allowing event missions to be archived and replayed indefinitely, they will soon be added to the boards. These include:

  • Hive World Missions
  • Activate TCS
  • Deactivate TCS
  • Gloom Expedition Missions

We still need to do more testing and establish proper rules for these categories (especially since some will require downpatching). So, stay tuned for updates as well as a full explanation of how to play event missions at any time.

Since patch 1.003.200 (the patch which introduced Automaton Mega Cities), Pelican-1 has had issues/bugs that make extraction slower for runs which include extraction (mostly 100% and Extract%, but also some Any%).

There are two things which can happen with Pelican-1:

  1. The Pelican hovers for a very long time above the platform

  2. The Pelican comes in as quickly as before, but sinks into the ground.

The video below shows all of the scenarios which can occur:

Since the intention for No Major Glitches (NMG) is to ban most downpatch mechanics, a new poll is going up to ask if runners want to allow the old 'Speedy Pelican' in No Major Glitches or reject/move all the current runs with it. If it is not allowed then runs will be either moved to Unrestricted or rejected if they were already dual submitted.

If the new major patch (Into the Unjust) on September 2nd does not revert the Pelican back to how it was, we will go with the results of the poll. If it is fixed we will do nothing as there will no longer be a need!

Exciting new updates to the leaderboards are underway! Here's a summary

JaesaWilde promoted to Supermoderator

First of all congratulations to our newest Supermod, JaesaWilde! She has been such an asset since she joined and has done so much for the boards and community. As our most active moderator and someone who has grown to become a centerpiece of Helldivers 2 speedrunning, the promotion is well deserved. We look forward to seeing her succeed in this new role!

New missions added to main board and CE (with special requirements)

Two missions exclusive to Terminid megacities (Restore Air Quality and Cleanse Infested District) have been added to the main board and CE. They were previously absent due to broken seed generation and stat screens making verification for 100% impossible. However we now have a solution to this and it is possible to submit runs of them to 100% so long as all objectives which spawn on the map are cleared.

Attached is a screenshot of the new rules which outlines how this works

For NMG we will require runners to instead full clear on seeds where all objectives spawned with the assumption that the broken seed generation will be patched eventually. So for NMG the stat screen must show 5 optional objectives completed and full XP regardless of whether that was possible on the given seed.

Sabotage Supply Bases Diff 10 is now the Max Difficulty

With the recent update adding Sabotage Supply Bases to difficulty 10, we have made it the new max diff and moved the old diff 5 runs over to legacy difficulties (any other difficulty). We intend for the max and min diff to reflect the difficulties present in the current patch moving forward unless there is some drastic and negative change by Arrowhead.

Hi everyone! We have been hard at work all day implementing all of the changes and new categories and the update is finally complete! Below is a summary of everything that was changed:

New Requirement Added to Show Game Version in Recordings

Due to downpatching being accesible we have added a requirement to show which version you are playing on by opening the pause menu. You can do this while you are choosing equipment by opening the social menu ("O" by default usually).

The requirement will be waived for runs done before the update, and runs done after will receive a warning for the first submission.

No Major Glitches 100% added to CE and Main Board

The name was changed to better reflect the purpose of the category (banning intentional major glitches, as well as certain downpatch mechanics). It was renamed from Glitchless to reduce ambiguity because what is and isn't a glitch is often a grey area, especially in a game as buggy as Helldivers 2.

A version was added for Operation runs, All Factions, and the ILs.

You may dual submit older runs there so long as they meet the requirements about glitches and downpatch mechanics.

Un-Scouted 100% (and NMG version) added to CE

Following the previous poll we decided to add this since it seemed that there was some interest in it despite it being contentious. We were redesigning the boards anyway, so it was easy to add as an additional change. It has the same requirements for un-scouted proof as the full game runs. The only difference is the category is for individual levels, and is diff 10 only due to being present only on CE.

Difficulties Reorganized

The new system of a global Max Difficulty and Min Difficulty variable has solved the old issue where difficulties appeared to be grouped together for ranking in the level view. Diff 9 runs were moved to Legacy, and orphaned middle difficulty runs were moved to a new "Any Difficulty" Legacy category.

The mod team continues our fight against the limitations of SRC site software and we hope this new view is much less misleading!

Default View Changed

Levels are now the default view for the main board as well as CE, since it is the main form of speedrunning Helldivers 2. In addition, 100% was made the default to reflect the fact that it is the main category for most of the community. For the full game runs, Operation 100% is now the default category for viewing purposes.

To address the fact that downpatching is now a known possibility for runs, the mod team has drafted a new major leaderboard update. Below are the proposed changes:

New Glitchless Category Split for 100%

This category will ban any glitch/skip/exploit that can't happen unintentionally, as well as useful game mechanics for speedrunning not present in the current patch (such as Ultimatum demo force). The new category should essentially eliminate any of the benefits from downpatching while not explicitly disallowing old patches. This is because if we banned old patches we would have to routinely move runs whenever the game is patched.

You can find a draft of the new rules for glitchless and normal 100% attached. To clarify, host transfer will still be banned in the game rules and applied to both categories due to how it messes with the timer.

Reorganization of difficulties

Currently there is an issue where all difficulties are grouped together in the global level view. This generally results in min diff runs appearing on the 1st place spot, even though min diff and max diff are separate categories. To fix this we will be moving min diff and max diff into their own separate categories, and moving diff 9 runs into a "legacy max diff" category. You can see what the new view will look like attached.

No difficulties will be added or removed, it's simply a reorganization for display purposes. This will be a big project requiring us to move hundreds of runs, but it will finally put an end to the misleading display.

Also big thank you to @IEATZOMB13Z for allowing access to a testboard to workshop these changes!!

Poll on the Proposed Update

Let us know if you're happy with these changes over in #poll !

As always, if you want access to the poll and have a verifed run up please let us know in #verifed-voters so we can grant you the role for access.

If you are unhappy with the proposed changes for any reason please let us know over in #changes-and-suggestions so we can discuss what you want changed.

The new missions from the Heart of Democracy major update have been added to both main and CE under a new "Limited Time Only" section in the level categories. We have added them there for now because it is unclear whether Repel Invasion Fleet and Take Down Overship will be available beyond the invasion of Super Earth. They will be moved to the main section if it turns out they are permanent.

You can find this new section by scrolling down to the bottom of any of the level categories where they can be found below "Upload Escape Pod Data" on main and "Spread Democracy" on CE. Some of the old missions which were removed from the game have also been moved to this section (Deactivate TCS and Retrieve Essential Personnel).

If Gloom missions return we will also add them under this section, as they weren't added at the time due to concerns about how permanent they would be. They can also be added so people can submit their old runs if there is demand for it. Please let me or any of the other mods know if you have an old run on a Gloom mission you would like to submit.

That's all!

Dear speedrunners, two changes have been made to the rules:

Addition of HUD visibility rule

The visibility of the following HUD elements must be enabled in your settings (Options > HUD) and must not be covered in the recording (e.g. by a camera overlay):

  • Primary Objective Visibility: visible.
  • Mission Info Visibility: visible.
  • Stratagem Visibility: visible.
  • Health Visibility: visible.
  • Weapon Visibility: visible.
  • Stamina Visibility: dynamic OR visible.
  • Info Feed Visibility: visible.

First time submitters will be given a single instance of leniency regarding the HUD visibility rule. Runners will receive a warning and all future submissions not complying with this rule will be rejected.

Un-Scouted proof no longer valid

The following proof Record the ship stationary over empty planet space. Afterwards, the host selects the operation you'll go for. The selected operation has to be on the same planet, on the same difficulty. is no longer valid. It has recently been discovered that you can rarely and randomly find yourself in this situation after having scouted a seed.

This change is not retroactive. However, any new run submitted with this proof will either be labelled as Scouted or rejected. If you are on the same planet as the operation/mission you want to run, the best un-scouted proof to provide is Back and forth (cf. Game rules).

Summary of the recent poll about un-scouted ILs

Both categories were voted down by the community, however due to extraordinary circumstances surrounding the poll it is likely we will re-poll on the categories after enough time has passed. As time went on, discussion surrounding the poll became less about the categories itself and went in a very negative direction meaning that many were not able to vote on how they truly felt about adding the categories.

No tolerance for bad actors

The mods of this community will not tolerate those who would attempt to bully, intimidate, and subvert the community present here to serve their own ends. Those who have crossed the line and refused warnings to correct their behavior have been removed from the discord and been explained in detail why along with all evidence pointing towards their removal. Those associated with them but who have not done anything to warrant a ban at this time have been warned but not removed.

Moving forward, those removed and those who were allowed to stay will both still be allowed to submit to the leaderboards so long as they follow rules there. Ideally we want everyone to be normal and allowed to compete and add to discourse moving forward if they are capable of respecting this space. But again, I would like to reiterate that we will not tolerate slander, harassment, or insults directed towards user or moderators of this community either on-site or in the discord.

Reminder regarding future polls

Lastly, with future polls we would like to remind the community to stay on topic with any discussion, keep discussion civil and constructive, and generally not make the polls about something else besides the question at hand. Polls are not meant for shows of force where whoever shouts or brigades the most wins, and there have been issues regarding polls in the past as well as present. So, its important that we all stay focused with any future decisions regarding the leaderboards, as we would all like any future polls not to result in issues for the community.

New poll about adding un-scouted individual level categories to Category Extensions

New polls going up today on whether or not to add two new major categories to CE: 100% Un-Scouted and 100% Deathless Un-Scouted. The categories will apply to all diff 10 ILs currently available on CE, and will have the same proof requirements as the current un-scouted full game categories.

When voting in the poll please consider if you would meaningfully engage with the categories, not just whether you would be "ok" with them being added. Meaningfully engaging with the category includes:

  • Submitting runs for the category
  • Developing strats for the category
  • Coaching runs for the category
  • Planning runs/routes for the category

Nobody in the community wants to contribute to category bloat, meaning categories with few or no submissions. So please consider whether you would actually want to contribute to these categories when you make your vote!

New polling system implemented

We have also implemented a new system for polls going forward where only those with a verified run on the Helldivers 2 speedrun.com board or on CE will be able to vote. We tried hard to make sure everyone with a verified run has the role which enables them to vote, but we may have missed a few, so please send a message in #verified-voters if you have a run up and still need the role. The new system has been implemented because the purpose of the poll is to gauge opinion among those who submit speedruns to speedrun.com, not just the general public. To clarify, your run can be any run, not necessarily a first place time.

Requests for other un-scouted IL major categories

If there is desire among the community for other unscouted IL categories such as Any% Un-Scouted or Extract% Un-Scouted please say so in #changes-and-suggestions. At this time we are only polling on 100% since that is what has been most requested recently.

Hey there Helldivers,

You are now allowed to swap super destroyers between operations for All Factions Any% and All Factions 100% on the main board. The new updated rules are as follows:

You may change to a different super destroyer in the same squad in between operations, so long as you do not substitute players. Each new host must prove un-scouted, the most simple method being the "back and forth method", which is listed below.

Back and forth: "Select a mission in an operation, then back out and select a mission in a different operation."

The change is being done to make the category more accessible and cut down on time spent seed farming for optimal operations, as you can now line up several optimal operations in advance across multiple hosts in the squad.

Swapping super destroyers is still banned on All Factions Deathless (category extensions) as it would allow players to potentially disconnect off-screen, and disconnecting is banned for deathless categories.

That's all! Happy speedrunning (on all fronts!) -canis_xo

The Dio's Duck Diver Challenge organised by Kiddish from Shelldivers took place from 29 March to 7 April. 4 teams competed in a marathon in which they had to complete as many level 10 operations as possible. The speedrunners were part of team 3 and well, numbers speak for themselves.

Until the next event, I've released a best-of of the first marathon from the F.A.S. point of view. Enjoy!

First time submitters will be given a single instance of leniency regarding the timer visibility rule and the run will be manually retimed for validity. Runner will be given a warning and all future submissions without timer set to always visible will be rejected.

The hope is that the new policy will weed out those who don't know from those who don't care moving forward and give new runners a chance to submit while still maintaining integrity and proof standards across the boards.

This server and a few other sub communities within the Helldivers 2 Speedrunning community will be participating in a competition starting at March 14th 0000 UTC.

In summary, its going to be a competition to see which of two teams can reach 500 points by completing operations the fastest. Extraction and optional objectives are not required, so its basically an any% ruleset. The proof of operation completion will be provided via screenshot submission to the competition discord.

A few of the speedrun teams from here have already registered on their own (Blitz Divers, HAC, FAS) but we also registered a team for this server called the HSC (Helldivers Speedrun Community).

We're all going to be competing together on the side of Team Shell vs. the non-speedrunner RP "Blitz Divers"

Following the recent DSS changes, a minor edit has been made to the new DSS submission rules;

You may submit a run with DSS on your planet if it is inactive (show on video), or if all POVs are shown, and no stratagems or other benefits provided by the DSS are used.

Hopes this clears things up! Happy Diving!

Happy 1 year anniversary for Helldivers speedrunning! Here are all the updates:

Free Stratagems and DSS Support banned in all Categories

Since the community decided to ban these instead of adding the DSS as an annotation, we will be adding this to the game rules:

Use of the DSS and free stratagems is banned. You can still submit a run with a free stratagem as long as no runner uses it. You can still submit a run done on a planet with the DSS, as long as no action is active

Increased Standards of Proof across the Leaderboards

A lot of categories have gotten quite a bit more competitive in the last few months. This is a good thing and a direct result of how much growth we've had as a community! However with increased competition comes increased standards of proof by necessity of deterring foul play. As a result of this and the outcome of the recent poll we will be adding several new requirements:

  • In game audio must be recorded and set to an audible level, in game music and voice chat is optional

  • Mission timer must be set to always visible. To do so, go to options > HUD > Mission info visibility and set it to visible. Note that this is not the default setting

  • The loadout and stratagem screen must be shown before the run starts and all POV’s must be submitted if a free stratagem is active

While we will not be requiring all POVs to be present at this time, we would like to reiterate the following rule added recently:

  • Verifiers may ask for additional POVs before verifying in certain circumstances (competitive times in competitive categories, Illuminate missions, abnormalities etc.)

New Rule added to the Discord

  1. Given that we are officially associated with speedrun.com, you must also follow the speedrun.com code of conduct in this discord.

New Poll in the Discord

With the majority of people voting to ban the DSS/Free Stratagems in Helldivers speedruns, we will need to address how to handle old runs which used them.

First, for context: no runners or any members of the mod team have identified any unbeatable runs using the DSS or Free Stratagems.

The first choice is to simply leave them up and only ban future runs which feature them. This is the most simple solution.

The second is to go through and reject them based on the new rule change. This is more complicated and would result in a lot of rejection from before the rule change was made, but it's an option in case the community feels it is warranted.

Now that the DSS has come back online we will have to make a decision as a community with regards to how to handle it for the leaderboards.

Summary of what it does:

When hovering over a planet and once sufficient resources have been donated on a cooldown, it will provide various in mission bonuses. This may include:

  • Free 380 barrage (heavy ordnance distribution)
  • Free Hellpod Space Optimization booster (Orbital Blockade)
  • Eagle Strafing Runs which spawn in a similar manner as weather effects (Eagle Storm)

It essentially acts very similar to free stratagems in that it is a bonus which is gated behind real time, temporary events.

Summary of discussion on the matter in changes-and-suggestions:

Runners expressed concerns over the fact that the DSS and free stratagems could give players an unfair advantage since these events are time limited with no guarantee they will ever come up again. Nobody was able to identify a run that was unbeatable due to the DSS/Free Stratagems however most acknowledged that it would be possible to get an unbeatable WR with them, especially for solo.

Summary of the poll itself

We will be voting on whether to track DSS usage in speedruns via an annotation (similar to the existing system used for free stratagems) or whether to ban the usage of both outright. If we do decide to ban them, we will have to do another poll regarding what to do with the old runs which used free stratagems (either grandfather them in, or reject them for the new rule violation). As always, if you have any thoughts, or issues with the constraints of the poll please bring it up in changes-and-suggestions. Your opinion is valued Helldiver!

Freedom's Greetings Speedrunners,

New updates and changes made to the mod team!

FAS_JaesaWilde has been promoted to moderator to assist with making changes to the leaderboards in addition to verification. She has been a great asset for a little over a month now since she joined and the promotion is well deserved.

Cat_God_Rose has been added as a verifier after volunteering to help with the mod team and we look forward to working with her in the future

Ownership Transfer of the Community Discord

IEATZOMB13Z transferred ownership of the discord over to me in order to help the mod team better manage things with the server. He has been a real help sticking around and pitching in (despite his other commitments running the Payday 2 boards), and he will continue to be around to help out as needed

Old Eradicate Runs Restored to No Longer Possible

It was recently discovered that old Eradicate speedruns were banished to the shadow realm following the patch which made Eradicates harder and changed them from a number to a percentage. These runs have now been restored to No Longer Possible and will once again be available for viewing! They will not affect the placement of the main board but have been restored to preserve the run history. If anyone wants to see some sub 2 minute lvl 9 Eradicate runs from before the patch, well now you can ^_^

To limit toxicity in the community and encourage friendly competition, new guideline added against saving up runs to post all at once for dramatic effect. Doing lots of runs in one day and posting all at once is still allowed, but hoarding runs is not.

We understand that some of you may have runs you already saved up and ask that you simply post them as soon possible, preferably within the week. We hope that this will help maintain a good environment moving forward for the health of the community.

Given the results of the poll over on the Helldivers Speedrun Community discord a new rule has been added to all categories banning mods which change aiming sights or reticles. This includes both third and first person mods.

The issue was rather controversial and the poll was close but everyone did a great job keeping the discussion civil. Managed democracy of speedrun.com is our way of life.

It is time to say goodbye.

Some of you may have seen I have been inactive for about a month now. For those in the discord server, this will not come as a surprise. On there, i have talked about how, for quite a while now, I've been the only active mod verifying runs and maintaining the boards, which has become a drain that impacted my ability to perform my responsibilities in real life and other obligations I had. It is for this reason that I searched for successors on here, to facilitate runs of this game we all love. In the - essentially all new - mod team I am happy to have found worthy successors who have established themselves as trusted memebers of the community with minimal incidents. I'm gratified to note the transition of power away from me has been going extremely smoothly. As of last morning, I have given over ownership of the discord server to dualshock100 and Supermod status on here to dualshock100 and IEATZOMB13Z.

I will be staying both in the discord server and on SRCOM as a supermod for only the most exceptional of circumstances - clearing up any confusion about the board setup mostly, if anything needs updating.

I thank you all for being patient with me through this last spring of me essentially modding the board on my own for quite a bit, and for being gracious through any disagreements we might have had over this time. While we did occasionally butt heads in this community and spoke in unmeasured ways occasionally, the discussions overall have been more civil than I, at times, deserved. For my successors, I recommend you view speedrun.com as a place for a community to use - a community that would form regardless. You're not here to steer, you're here to serve, to facilitate. I'm sure you'll do great.

For anyone interested in keeping up with what I'm doing, I run a small youtube channel I occasionally update under the name of Seetor.

For everyone else; see you all on the drop. Happy Helldiving.

Greetings Helldivers!

Once again after a poll and discussion on the community discord - which everyone is invited and encouraged to join! - we have updated the difficulty variable to reflect what missions are available on which difficulties. To explain what this means, some mission types are not available in some difficulties, for instance Launch ICBM is not available in 1 | TRIVIAL. This meant that those slots on the boards would forever be destined to be empty. There is an image attached to illustrate. None of those slots would ever be filled.

Now, each mission only has those difficulties that are relevant to it. This means the levels board no longer differentiates between difficulties by level, but irrelevant difficulties no longer appear on the regular leaderboards.

Furthermore, we have decided to merge the amount of difficulties we support down. Earlier, we supported all difficulties 1-9. Because there isn't that much difference between a difficulty 1 or 2 mission for speedrun purposes, and keeping in mind that we want every level represented by at least one available difficulty, we have decided to slim the board down to only the even difficulties - 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9.

There is currently a poll ongoing on the discord about the fate of old runs that are now without a difficulty to support them. Will we leave them orphaned, or merge them together such that difficulty 4 runs will be allowed to join the difficulty 3 board? Vote now to make your voice heard!

Happy Helldiving!

Greetings, Helldivers!

In accordance with a poll conducted of the community over in the discord, we are now separating runs by player count. Concretely this means 2 new settings for every run - Solo or Multiplayer. This decision was made to respect the achievements of runners who complete their level runs by themselves, where it can be hard to compete with the times bigger parties can get.

We will make sure to migrate the old runs onto the new board over the next couple of days.

I would also like to remind you to join our discord to participate in these polls as they happen.

Hello Helldivers!

We have been thinking for quite a while about a way to make the boards work better for people who don't want to only submit runs that involve the entire squad offing themselves after mission completion and are excited to announce it is finally here!

Extract% works like Any%, except you have to extract your whole squad in the end.

After consulting the community in a poll on the discord, have also made 100% - a run where in addition to finishing the main mission and extracting all helldivers, you also have to complete all side objectives and clear all bases on the map.

We hope these new categories invigorate everyone's interest in speedrunning. If you have any ideas for further categories, please reach out to the mod team to let us know, and consider dropping in on the discord to join the discussion and any future polls there.

Happy Helldiving! For managed democracy!

Except for Tutorial because it doesn't have one.

This board is short on volunteers at the moment - if this remains to be the case, I will begin rejecting runs that are incorrectly timed. I have been manually editing and correcting the times, which isn't a problem if I'm only verifying a few runs a day, but typically I am met with dozens of runs upon logging in.

Please consider volunteering to be a Verifier. If interested, send me a message.

As you already know, the old leaderboards were somewhat confusing, and the moderation team added me to help them create the new tables, and they're ready now.

Now, in the "Full Game" table, only the two runs of the Tutorial will be included, and in the leaderboards of the individual levels, all other speedruns will be listed, with the difficulty variables as in the old tables.

For missions that can be done against both Terminids and Automatons, instead of using different tables, [T] [A], a single table will be used where there will be an additional variable indicating the faction being fought against, apart from the difficulty. You can see how it looks now in the image below.

DISPATCH FROM MODS COMMAND

Display of categories and runs is changing soon.

Right now, the sub sorts runs by categories. As many of you might have noticed it's pretty annoying to move around between categories.

This is why we decided to change the sub settings from "Full game leaderboard" to "Level summary".

Unfortunately, to change this setting, new categories have to be created. This means that all the now old runs will stay there.

We hope you will not miss all your runs after this change and we are sure this will let some more to come.
