Turbos Question

I've noticed something weird about turbos.

Especially at the beginning of my run, considering you start with a bunch, my turbos refill in the pit stop sometimes, and other times they don't. Also, on one of my old (failed at the Speedbowl) runs, I had 72 turbos going into the race, and it didn't last me the last 3 laps, or even close to that.

All of you probably know how this works already, I just want to know, and this is my theory:

You have a max turbo storage, and your turbo reserve is in the pitstop, so you can only have a certain amount of turbos maximum at a time. That's why i saw the wr run using turbos early on illinois and the speedbowl.

Please help, for the sake of my runs.

You're correct. You can only hold so many turbos and they refill each time you go to the pits. So especially on Speedbowl, you want to use up all your turbos each time if you have plenty in the coffers.

That makes sense. Before I knew this for sure, I had always been using turbos at the end, so that I could beat the yellow car, but that doesn't matter in the speedbowl. Although the yellow car goes faster the more it's behind, even if it beats me it's still faster, because by going faster myself, I inspire the yellow car to do the same. Losing doesn't matter in the speedbowl.

Also, for SoCal, I never have much luck with it unless the yellow car pits early, so I can get farther ahead of it, and so that it goes faster. When it pits late, I almost always have to reset the run. Is there a certain thing you have to do, or a certain pace you must drive at, to make the yellow car pit early?

Lastly, when you have turbos in your supply, is your tank (the ones in your car) automatically filled at the beginning of the race?

speedbowl having around 60 turbos is great...and you can use every friggin one during the race
