A Begginers Paradise Island - Any% Tutorial

## The Basics

- Language settings do not matter at this point in time, play in whatever language you prefer.
- The fastest way to skip through text is by holding down the "A" button or the equivalent on your platform. (This doesn't work on Wii however)
- The fastest method for movement is vector jumping (Wiggling in the air to accelarate faster than while rolling). Slamming and charging are usually faster, but only when the target is in the direction you wish to move.
- Many cutscenes can be skipped before they even begin by mashing the cutscene skip button during loading screens.
- When running Any% and AMM ILs, any amount of inspiration is allowed so it is recommended to have maximum size, charge and armor upgrades.
- The timing for all ILs starts upon pressing the start button after the comic screen loading has completed or when confirming "yes" to the restart prompt in the menu. (The timing starts 0.5s later when doing this.)
- The timing for all ILs stops upon losing control of Blob on that level. For almost all of the levels it is on the frame you select the 'Yes' option to leave when talking to pinky. However, there are a few exceptions, these are:

1. Paradise Island - the frame you hit the transform engine in the canon
2. Rocket Range - the frame you hit the transform engine in the rocket 
3. Hypno Ray - the frame you destroy the final mini Comrade Black
4. Blob Party levels - the frame you hit the transform engine

# Paradise Island

- Mash A to skip through the Pinky and Blob introductions
- Only move the camera a bit then begin to hold the camera center button and hold up
Try and grab the colour atom in the mission blob as you talk (remember to HOLD A) to Pinky then collect them in this order: https://imgur.com/a/g10GMx2
- Jump up the 2 layers and collect the final atom.
- Skip the transform engine cutscene and hold ZL and A (or platform equivalent)
- Mash the skip cutscene button and hold up, you will start moving before the camera catches up
- Jump up to here without losing speed (don't hit into the wall or stop to do it) https://imgur.com/a/FmZ3lwJ (You can always just run around)
- Beeline for the next mission and jump just before you reach the water so that you get the text mid-air: https://imgur.com/a/J2xRLC2 This saves a few seconds as after Pinky 'pause text' blob will stop moving on the ground for 2 seconds. By staying in the air we conserve our speed.
- Activate the mission and skip the text & cutscene
- Go to the purple pool and try and hit A (jump equivalent) the instant you become purple. If done successfully you will skip the 'how to fill with paint tutorial'
- Other outcomes could be failing it entirely or having the tutorial overlay but not being in the pool. These are both solved by clicking RT (colour fill equivalent)
- Paint the building closest to the mission start first then work your way over
- Hit the transform engine, skip the cutscene.
- Jump on to the statue and climb it. Whilst climbing never stop moving up the statue as you will fall off. Stay to the right of the line seen here https://imgur.com/9T8SjzB
- Line yourself up on the top of the statue to jump to the wooden balcony on the right
- Run up and jump off of the right tip of the statue https://imgur.com/wLk3BbA
- Land up here: https://imgur.com/vYOYZrc Keep holding towards the fence until blob goes over it or you will fall.
- Jump over the row of buildings and fill up on red paint then paint these buildings: https://imgur.com/Ekl3Mmf
- Jump up to the second layer and paint the furthest building https://imgur.com/g2KgB1m Note: it does not matter if you paint both buidlings like seen in the image
- Jump down into the blue pool and paint the three buildings by jumping into the corner where they meet: https://imgur.com/QtSRBt5
- Activate the mission, skip the text and then through the compass tutorial
- Jump back up to the second level off of this building: https://imgur.com/7aHx9NJ
- Activate the next mission then grab the style and paint the closest building to the style blue (avoid painting the other taller building blue) to complete the mission
- Jump in the red pool then slam the transform engine, skipping through cutscenes as usual
- Jump off of the bridge at about the point blob is on the image and hold Z and mash A (hold target and mash jump equivalent) to slam the green circled graydian https://imgur.com/k7PqVfv AVOID HITTING THE RED ONE AS THIS WILL TRIGGER A CUTSCENE 
- Get all the other graydians (being careful to avoid the mission when getting the ones close to the mission
- Paint these buildings red: https://imgur.com/YdggzJr then grab the green and paint these buildings green: https://imgur.com/ejt6ydn
- Line up so the last graydian is in between you and the mission and the mission is directly behind the graydian: https://imgur.com/2TBoFNS (you need a longer run-up than shown in the image)
- Hold up so that you colour the graydian then activate the mission, this will leave Pinky with 1 textbox and skip a cutscene
- Jump over the blank building and get purple from the pool shown here: https://imgur.com/1qVysp7
- Paint the entirety of the last block of buildings that you jumped over earlier purple

- Slam the graydians right infront of you, then the ones behind the green building
- Activate the next mission, skipping cutscenes and text then grab the inspiration

- Jump, then hold ZL (target equivalent) and mash A (jump equivalent) to slam the transform engine

- After destroying the first wall, turn around and exit the cave the way you came in

# General tricks and glitches

- **Bunny Hopping** - Jumping on the first frame after touching the ground to maintain your momentum. (Can be incredibly useful if combined with vectoring.) It is believed that B-Hopping on water has a 2 frame window.
- **Vectoring** - Moving diagonaly through the air to accelerate faster than moving on the ground. You can use it to jump farther and move faster.
- **Celebration skip** - Skipping the celebration that happens after finishing a mission. You can skip it by fulfilling the mission's requirements before activating it. It can save over 3 seconds for each mission. Not allways faster than doing it normaly.
- **Surface clip** - Increasing Blobs size while he is between the surface of a paint pool and the floor, to clip him through the floor.
- **Co-op Crash** - If you enter most 2D sections with Co-op active, the game crashes. We don't really know what causes this. It seems to not happen in manhole 2Ds I guess.
- **Music-kill Glitch** - Go to the options menu in a level and then, without going back to playing, restart the level. This will make the music not play. You can fix this by going into the options menu again and then right back to playing.
- **Z-Pad glitch** - Restarting the game while the "target button" icon from a Z-Pad is on screen, to keep it there semi-permanently
- **Transform Cutscene Skip (TCS)** - Slamming a transform engine at the 1st possible frame, even before you truly get control of Blob, so that the cutsceene part of transform action doesn't happen. Often resulting in a softlock. For example, the ink in Hydro Station not lowering.
- **2.5D sections** - Entering a 2D section from the 3D world. You must find a place where there is a 2D section out of bounds. You can see this by: If touching the world border softlocks you instead of respawning you. That means there is a 2D section there! - In order to enter you must be in the grounded state while touching it and then jump. (Water and slippery surfaces don't count as grounded.) After that you will be transported into the void and you may see the 2D section, and you may reach it. You will be able to move in it through 3D space! There aren't many known places to do this. These sections are also liable to Co-op Crash.
- **Air-brake bug** - After being AFK or tabbed out of de Blob 2 for some time, you can lose the ability to air-brake. Fix it by restarting the game.
- **Restart offset** - This isnt a glitch, but it should be known. Whenever restarting a level, the fade out animation takes up exactly 0.5 seconds. The level in turn starts playing 0.5 seconds later than normal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5BLVyPUDw0
- **Text speed differences** - This also isn't a glitch, but there are differences in skipping through text in different ways. Here are 4 ways merged into one video. Holding the enter key is consistently skipping through the text on the first posssible frame, giving it an advantage over holding a button on a controller. This advantage is about 3 frames per text box. It was decided that utilising this is not against the rules.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag9ju3omm8Y

### **-  Launch Glitch (LG)**

The biggest and perhaps most mysterious glitch. If you have it active, you can perform it by charging any object from mid-air. This will launch you either directly upward or downward. Trying again will launch you into the opposite direction as before. So a useful LG happens after every second mid-air charge.

If you don't have it active you must quit to main menu and reenter the level for a chance of getting it. Restarting normally maintains everything about LG from the game you played before, including the state of it being active and the direction it currently wants to send you.

What's strange is that Launch Glitch seems to not work on ice.

# Cheat Codes

Written as Wii inputs, use your controller equivalents. A keyboard cannot access the codes.

- Z = L trigger (Target)
- C = L bumper
- 1 = 'Compas' face button
- 2 = 'Nothing' face button
- B = 'Cancel' face button
- D-Pad = D-Pad

You must hold both Z and C to do every cheat code and then do a combination of inputs. The combinations are as follows:

**In game**

- 10 min. time -  1,1,2,2
- 1 life - 1,2,1,2
- Fill shields - 1,2,1,1
- Disable HUD - B,B,B (Not possible on Wii)
- Change color - hold 2 along with Z and C, then D-pad left or right, 3 times
- You can use the P key on PC to turn on Co-op.

**In main menu**

- Unlock all levels - 1,2,2,1,1,2,2,1
- Unlock all Moods - 1,1,1,2,1,1,1,2
- Unlock all Extras - 2,2,1,1,2,2,1,1
- Unlock all Blob Party levels - 2,2,2,2,1,1,1,1

- You can use the X key on PC to change the color of the cursor.
