Crystalis Sub Hour Safeties / Route
Updated 3 years ago by Overswarm

The video above is a route that has just about every safety. You don't have to do all of them, but with a little bit of practice in regards to combat you should be able to get sub hour. This assumes you've already watched a run or two and have played the game before.

A few notes I didn't cover well in the video:

  1. The Mt. Sabre grind can be scary with low magic. If your magic is low after getting to level 5, go back to Brynmaer and go to the Inn if needed. This is a huge time loss (like +30 seconds!) but it's better than dying.

  2. You can buy the armor and shield in portoa before the Medusa grind. This isn't necessary with paralysis, but if you're going to buy it at all you should buy it first -- and the armor can help a lot.

  3. Instead of stabbing draygon, you can just use the Thunder sword's level 3 charge more than once.

  4. In the tower, you can use the level 3 charge for the thunder sword way more often with all the magic rings. It makes it very easy to take out the purple robots on floor 1 and floor 3. (You can use a level 2 charge to finish them off!)

  5. A safety I didn't cover was only buying 2 or 3 pairs of warp boots in Brynmaer, then using the warp boots glitch everywhere except when getting telepathy. This allows you to buy additional medical herbs / antidotes so you have way more healing in your inventory throughout the game. This is mostly useful for the ice zombie grind.

I do recommend you do save state practice on the tower and learn to kill the gold robots with stab strats. The purple ones can be scary so thunderstorm away, but the gold ones are 100% consistent as long as you move in the same place every time. You can save a ton of time on the tower this way and if you have two opel statues and a lot of magic rings you're pretty close to invincible!

If you are using emulator, there is going to be a bit of delay between your input and the game. This is a huge disadvantage in a few areas! If you can't play on console, accept that you'll have a disadvantage in those areas and find a way around it by playing slower and safer.

Ultimately getting sub hour is going to come down to playing the game in a way to where you rarely have to reset, then playing it a few times to get more comfortable with the routes and menus. It will seem impossible at first, but after a few runs it'll just fall into place.
