[NTSC-U] Bounce Counter display mod (for Item Glitch practice)
Updated 3 months ago by PlayerGameSK

[NOTE: Currently this only seems to work on PS1/Emu (incl. POPStarter on PS2), I am however working on getting it to work off of a burned disc on PS2 and will update this once that has been solved!]

A small mod I made to help myself with practicing Item Glitch. It works by replacing the wumpa counter on the HUD with the current value of the bounce counter, meaning that you'll be able to keep track of it and easily tell if you've messed up or not, even on console! (as long as you have either a MechaPwn'd PS2, a modchip, or some other way of running burned CD-Rs... injecting the modified ROM into consoles like PS3 or PSP has not been tested, but should work too)

You activate the counter by pressing R2 + L1 and disable it by pressing L2 + R1.

To use it, you will first need to obtain a copy of the unmodified NTSC-U version of the game to patch (.bin/.cue files).

Once you have one, download the .xdelta patch below, then use either an online patcher like this one or a program like Delta Patcher to patch it. After that, it'll work exactly the same as any other ROM. If you wanna burn it onto a CD-R for use on console or you use an emulator that requires a .cue file, either re-use the one from the original game (making sure the filename inside matches the .bin file by opening the .cue file in a text editor), or use this website to generate a new one.
