Some general bioshock speedrunning questions

Hi there, so I'm relatively new to the speedrunning game, to the point where there's only a few set of games that I would feel confident in speedrunning, one of them being Bioshock, and was just wanting to ask a few questions regarding categories and what would be allowed so to speak.

So for instance, say I want to do a run where I have to rescue all the Little Sisters, I noticed there isn't a particular category for that, would I label that under something like "Glitchless" or is there a way to add a new category, or is it just generally a run where people don't bother with little sisters outside of the mandatory one in Medical.

Another question I have would be regarding speedrunning in the remaster in particular, would something like New Game Plus be allowed? given the runs I've seen seem to be done in Bioshock classic (whether that be for glitches that can happen in remastered but not classic or not I'm not sure) it wouldn't surprise me that New Game Plus wouldn't be allowed, but better to ask before I go submitting a run using it.

Other than that, that's basically all I'm really wanting to ask. definitely something I'd love to try out, as I am a bit of a sucker for time trial-like challenges.

Thanks, let me know :) ~Maya

For the most part, dealing with little sisters is done as little as possible, due to it taking extra time to do so. The closest category we have that fits with what you're looking for is the "All Collectibles" run. We don't end up saving every sister, but we do save most.

As for new game+, there is a category for that. Bioshock and Remastered are separate games here on speedrun.com complete with their own individual sets of leaderboards. You'll find the new game+ stuff on remastered, since the original didn't have that.

Let me know if you have any other questions, also you'll probably get better/faster results on the discord: https://discord.gg/

Thanks, just did a casual run now on NG+ just to see how fast I could do it, no death warps or anything, just testing the waters, and I found I definitely can do it in under 2 hours, 1 hour 54 minutes and 14 seconds was my end time with load screens. and I have a feeling once I learn some of the other types of ways to save time I could definitely get my time down a bit more.

The discord link just sent me to the site, but my User on there is Mayannaise#4518 will check the discord tab on here though. Thanks for letting me know the basics :)
