how hard is it to setup recording software to not include load times?

i think we should do that since it would be more fair and it doesn't reward people for having more powerful pcs.

i know many pc games do it but i have no knowlage of how hard it is to do.

do you think we should have real time as well as time without loading screens?

Usually from what I'm aware, it requires an Autosplitter which is able to detect the load times and such. Further than that in the actual programming side of things I wouldn't know. If someone is able to set it up correctly I certainly wouldn't mind moving over to it.

I could jury-rig something if I find time, but I don't think that would happen for a while. I don't know if it would be super efficient but a simple solution would be a program that watches the save file for flags that indicate key events, and then also pauses the timer while the screen is black.

that would be a pretty brute force way to do it but i could be fine if it's easier to implemennt. i am probably bored with this game but if i keep running it i don't wanna get screwed by randomly long loading screens again.

Worst case, I could just make a super simple timer and re-time the runs myself, which has the benefit of being able to update old runs.

I have a very basic timer functioning that skips load screens automatically (and skips a beat on other screen fades, oops) but still requires manual start and stop (though I might hack something in to do an automatic start). I have yet to look into developing LiveSplit plugins but I expect that to take an order of magnitude more time than this timer.

Basic tests on my PB and Tricrow's PB from a few days ago put the times without loads at 1:22:51 and 1:25:18 respectively, plus or minus a couple of seconds. I haven't run through the other videos yet, but this definitely makes clear how dramatically the load times are affecting runs.

I'm going to make a few revisions to the timer and then I'll post it so that everyone can use at and/or verify my work. I think I can change the leaderboard to include time without loads and sort by that, if that's what we want?
