Level strats

**Coventry Cove**

Lap 1: 
- Get the nitro to the right after the bridge.
- In the town, take the shortcut to the left. You need to slow down before the ramp to not hit the roof. After the jump, grab the nitro and go back to the main road. This route still saves time without the nitro if done clean.
- *(safe strat +0.6s with nitro, +0.2s without: Skip the town shortcut)*
- At the middle part with the different nitros, get one or two, depending which of them you got first (the first and last are optimally used in one lap, the middle ones separately). 
- Take the mine shortcut. 
- In RTA, be careful with the AI after exiting the mine. Use the siren to keep them away. 
- Carefully align your car towards the ramp to the castle. The game can be random with the jump from the bridge.
- Drive into the right corner and reset with L. This strat only saves very little time. [TODO: add picture]

Lap 2:
- Get the nitro to the right if you missed it in lap 1.
- Town shortcut to the left. If you only want to do this shortcut once, lap 2 is the easiest because of the position of the crane.

- Get one of the nitros at middle part (route them as explained earlier)
- The rest is the same as lap 1

Lap 3:
- Town shortcut to the left. 
- *(safe strat +0.6s with nitro, +0.2s without: Skip the town shortcut)*
- Get the last nitro at the middle part. 
- Make sure to not miss the nitro before the finish line.

**Mount Mayhem**

Lap 1:
- At the town section, take the shortcut route to the right.
- Break the glass and drive down the ski ramp, reset at the right side when getting to the correct spot [TODO: add picture]
- Get the nitro after respawning
- In RTA, be careful with the AI after the bridge. Use the siren to keep them away. 
- Enter the waterfall shortcut. When done optimally, the car should never jump. 
- Reset out of the cave. [TODO: add picture]
- When entering the second of the big caves, drive into the left wall before you would jump down. If done correctly, this will give you a shorter, faster jump, but it is somewhat random. 

Laps 2 and 3:
- Same as lap 1

**Inferno Isle**

Lap 1:
- At the start, try to drive between the left palm tree and the wall. 
- In the jungle, take the shortcut to the right. 
- Take the ramp through the hut. 
- Reset out of the jungle, try to use the lighter part of the ground as a visual cue [TODO: add picture]
- After respawning in the town section, drive through the alley and reset at the end of it. This part is VERY hard to optimize, watch IL videos and practice it a lot!
- Before the volcano part, take the ramp to the right to enter the shortcut section. 
- For the first ramp, try to slow down just enough to not hit the ceiling.
- Use the second ramp to enter the volcano.
- During the next jump, reset back to the main road. Try to use the black texture on the wall as a visual cue [TODO: add picture]
- After respawning, go around the lava on the left side. Go right at the next corner. 
- Exit the volcano with a z-turn
- Try to get the nitro on the right side, a z-turn can help. 
- After the bridge, drive inside the building. You don't want to be too much to the left or you will jump too high and hit the wooden bar. 
- Reset back to the main road, try to use the wooden bar as a visual cue [TODO: add picture]

Lap 2:
- Same as lap 1

Lap 3:
- In RTA, be careful with the AI when approaching the finish line. Use the siren to keep them away.

**Sunset Sands**

Lap 1:
- After the jump to the main part of the track, drive towards the shortcut entrance of the temple. 
- Align the last jump to the temple entrance to land to the right of the ramp.
- Reset about a car length before the wall. [TODO: add picture]
- After respawning, get a nitro and exit the temple. 
- Take the shortcut to the left.
- Use both nitros or just one per lap, it doesn't really matter.
- For the next part, go right and then left.
- Drive to the shortcut section on the left side and cross the bridge to the right, ignore the first path to the left.
- Take the sharp corner to the left with a z-turn. 
- Use another z-turn for the next corner.
- Jump from the ramp on the right side. 
- Take the nitro at the end of the shortcut. 

Laps 2 and 3:
- Same as lap 1, get the other nitro in the temple

**Metro Madness**

Lap 1:

- Take the very first shortcut after the start. Align your jump to the left to make it to the grass when landing. 
- In case you hit the sign before the jump without blowing up your car, it is still possible to make the jump by using the handbrake trick. 
- Drive back to the main road from the grass.
- Continue on the left side of the main road and hit the first nitro, ignore the second one.
- Enter the shortcut section right in front of you. 
- Ignore the movie theater shortcut to the left and take the next turn to the left (there is a nitro on the right wall, it's unknown if it is really faster).
- Reset right before hitting the wall with the arrow signs. The ideal spot is where the leftmost segment of the wall starts [TODO: add picture]
- Drive through the sewers while trying to avoid jumps by staying close to the center of the road.
- Drive around the left side of the last column.
- After exiting the sewers, use z-turns to take the sharp corners optimally (practice this part a lot!).
- After the last of the sharp turns, exit the tunnel on the very right, so you can grab the nitro when landing from the jump.
- Take the shortcut to the left after exiting the second tunnel.
- Jump back to the main road. You want to align your car as parallel to the road as possible without hitting the left wall. 
- Take one of the nitros and finish the lap

Lap 2:
- Take the shortcut right in front of you. The fastest strat uses the small passage on the right side, the safe strat goes to the very left.
- Ignore the path to the left.
- Aim for the red wall on the right side and reset before you hit it [TODO: add picture]
- After respawning, get back to the left side and grab the nitro
- Continue like you did in lap 1 and grab the nitro you skipped last time

Lap 3:
- Same as lap 3

**Wicked Woods**

Lap 1:
- Right after the start, drive until you get close to the third set of torches. Before you reach them, hit the corner on the right wall. If your angle is correct, your car will drive up the left wall and get on the shortcut section. This is the single most important trick in RTA, practice it a LOT!
- Continue on the shortcut section. For the turns before the pumpkins, I use a z-turn.
- Drive around the pumpkin on the left side.
- When jumping off the ramp, avoid the very right side or you'l clip through the ground, slowing you down. 
- Go around the windmill on the right side and jump back to the main road
- Try to make a very clean jump to not hit the walls.
- Drive through the town on the right side. Be careful to not get a jump. 
- Stay on the main road until you would enter the cave. Take the right shortcut route to the dragon.
- Reset out of the cave, the optimal spot is about a car length before the ledge on the left ends [TODO: add picture]
- After respawning, go to the right to jump to the shortcut section.
- Slow down a bit before the next ramp to avoid an unwanted jump.
- Use the ramp inside the tree to get to the start of the next lap. You want to jump as parallel to the road as possible without hitting the fence.

Laps 2 and 3:
- Same as lap 1.

Tips and tricks

General tricks
- The Police Beetle is the best car, never use anything else.
- Always start races by pressing L.
- Keep the AI away with the siren.
- When you did a big mistake like failing a jump or got a very bad random jump off the road, just press L immediately.

Driving
- Only use as few control stick inputs as possible to keep your speed high. Watch the speedometer and learn how to constantly keep it close to 200 Km/h. Using Km/h over Mp/h is recommended for more accuracy. 
- Try to stick to the ground as much as you can, every jump slows you down. Memorize the spots where random jumps can happen, A-tapping can be helpful.
- After using a nitro, don't use a second one while still having boost speed. Save the other nitro for the next lap.
- When using a nitro, the game will sometimes give you a weird braking animation that slows you down. Tapping A can help to avoid this.
- When using Reset Warps, don't always go for the earliest possible frame to press L. This is because in some cases, delaying the Warp will respawn you slightly farther ahead. Examples are the ski jump ramp in Mount Mayhem and the warp at the start of laps 2 and 3 in Metro Madness. 

Techniques
- Z-turns: When approaching the turn, release A and hold Z. When the turn is complete, release Z and hold A again. When done optimally, you should only get a very small speed drop.
- Handbrake jumps: When starting a jump, press C-down and hold the control stick left or right. This can increase the length of the jump and is a good backup strat in case you lost too much speed before a jump.
