Thinking about giving this a run but upon looking at the rules, I'm a bit perplexed. For the other Arkanoid games, typically the final hit in the final level is when time is called unless there is an on screen pop-up (like in Arkanoid DS). This game doesn't seem to have that though, so shouldn't the final hit in Round 50 be the cut off for time?

Additionally, why are there categories for 10, 25, and 50? I thought perhaps there was a boss at 10 and 25, but they are just regular levels. Arkanoid Doh It Again for SNES has separate categories (1-33, 1-66, 1-99) b/c those rounds (33, 66, 99) are when you fight the "final" boss of those sections. None of the other games split like they do here for this game. I believe there should be a 1-50 category and a 51-100 category (since apparently those levels exist).

So doing further investigating, this game was remade on the Playstation where you can actually play all 100 levels straight through. It even has an Extra Mode with an additional 100 levels. Not sure what Ellimist wants to do with this info. A separate game entirely seems silly. Perhaps 2 categories where 1 is Arcade version and the other is the Playstation version? And then within those: Arcade: 1-50, 51-100 subcategories Playstation: 1-100, 1-100 Extra Mode

First, thank you for all the excellent information and input, I appreciate it.

In regards to the 10 and 25 level categories: I wanted to give people the ability to play "less" than the full game. Sometimes people just want to play a little intro to the game to get started, and I wanted to encourage that. 10 and 25 represent "start" and "half way" in my mind. With the extra details and levels you commented on, this makes less sense I will admit.

The Timer ending on Nebula Credit Screen Appearing is to give streamers and people running things with LiveSplit up an easier time stopping the time at the correct moment. I used to do "Final Hit" style endings but had issues with some SCHMUP game community members having trouble during the confusion and gameplay in the moment.

At the time of the first run I wasnt aware of the extra 50 levels, a YouTube commenter actually let me know there was more to be done. Ive never heard of the Playstation version, mainly because I pretty much exclusively run Arcade games.

Changes:

  • Added Arcade and Playstation top level categories

  • Added Level 1-50 and 50-100 to Arcade category

  • Added Level 1-100 and 1-100 Extra to Playstation category

  • Added 1P and 2P varieties of subcategories

  • Updated rules to be more clear about timer start and timer end

All your change ideas made good sense. Please let me know if you have any more!

For the Arcade categories, you put 50-100. Is it 50-100 or is it actually 51-100? I don't have the MAME version (couldn't figure out how to get it to run) so I can't verify for you.

Good spot, it is in fact Level 51, will fix. I will also post up instructions in the Rules for how to activate it.

Thanks again for all your work on this. This game is actually really fun. Just finished a pretty clean run and really enjoyed it :)
