On the leaderboard on src, there is both a full and a restricted glitched category. The difference between them is only in the illegality of one specific glitch in minor glitches. Potion Stacking. With Potion Stacking playing the game becomes extremely trivial, because you just have massively broken base stats. The community played using glitches before Potion Stacking was discovered and choose to retain the characteristics of these older runs within the category, by renaming it to minor glitches and putting Potion Stacking in it’s own category, the current major glitches category. This guide will cover the route of the current unrestricted category, major glitches.

# Potion Stacking

What is Potion Stacking and why is it powerful to the point where it requires it’s own category? Well, that is simple: It is in effect a glitch that gives the player infinite stats. If the accept button in the Character Panel is pressed the currently displayed values are defined as the new base values. So if you apply a boosting potion, open the Character Panel, let the potion run out, and then press accept in the Character Panel the Stats boosted by the potion are your new base stats, as long as you do not save and quit. There are 4 potions total that affect something displayed in the Character Panel, Archangel Potions, Attack Potions, Defence Potions and Magic Defence Potions. Archangel Potions are the most immediately useful, since their effect can be ended early by taking would-be lethal damage and being revived. This means, it is possible to gain essentially infinite Health and SP very quickly. This completely deprives Defence Potions of any utility. Magic Defence Potions are easy too, stack em 5 times over 5 minutes and you have 100% magic resistance and are henceforth immune to all magic. What is crucial however is the Attack Potion. It raises you attack power by 50%, but as it can not be ended early, you will need to take the time to stack up your damage. This is why, though fast, a major glitches speedrun is not just a rush to the final boss. You have to continuously stack up your attack power until you are strong enough to just rush the rest of the game. And while the damage you deal is completely off the charts, you are still restricted by your movement, meaning that leveling still has some merit: getting access to speedup.

# The Start of the Run

The crucial rng of this run is in the very beginning of it. In order to duplicate items it is necessary to own 21 individual items, whichever those may be. During the tutorial the cheapest buyable items in the entire game, the small health potions in Chapter 1, allow you to exchange your starting money and whatever you get dropped into more items to satisfy the 21 items requirement during it. The time limit for this is hitting the experience threshold by farming level 1 slimes that, together with the quest rewards from the tutorial, will get you level 3 afterwards. The reason for this is that, with the 5 additional investment in strength and the second level in your weapon proficiency, the relative damage boost between level 2 and 3 ends up just as big as that of a stacked attack potion, meaning you do not lose time by delaying your potion stacking to level 3. As for what weapon you play, that is entirely up to you, whatever you feel best with. The ultimate reason you have to satisfy the 21 items requirement during the tutorial is the fact that you need to dupe the blessing stone you get given during it. Why? Because after the tutorial you will execute a run where a lot of consumeables need to be used, which need to be bought first. And a Holy Stone just happens to be the single most expensive item you can dupe to get money for this quickly, so you take a Blessing Stone with you from the tutorial to dupe to upgrade it and dupe it some more afterwards to get the necessary funds for the rest of the run by selling the duplicate Holy Stones. After that keep stacking your damage while filling up your inventory with the necessary potions: attack potions, berserk potions, magic defence potions, and large archangel potions. It should also be mentioned that you can glitch out any shops or the composition window, allowing you to move while it is open. You should use this to start moving towards your first target area, while duping and scrolling back whenever new/more dupefodder is needed. Once you are done with the intial glitch and inventory setup you start rushing through the game storyline.

This list above shows all the main quests you need to complete in order after the tutorials. And while you do have to complete these quests in order to progress, your exponentially scaling damage, will cause them to become increasingly trivial, the further you progress.

## Level 3-5

Your first main quest that requires you to go to a specific place is Susan’s Honey in the Rose Forest which is where you head for. On the way you also need to kill 20 level 7 wolfs. First you pick a room where enemies can easily kill you and stack your archangel potion. Use a small heal afterwards to get enough health to continue. Your first actual goal room is the room in gino mountain along the way with a level 7 wolf and a bunch of level 3 wolfs. You scrollfarm till level 5 and get a few kills on the level 7 wolf as a byproduct. Once you reach level 5, you have 3 skillpoints and can thus learn Berserk, Hurricane I and Energy Wave. With a strong boosting skill and 2 attacking skills at the ready, you can now farm powerful enemies.

## Don't be Proud – Level 10

Further along the way to the bossroom you will pass through a room with 5 level 7 wolfs and 6 level 9 hornets. You scrollfarm this room a bit, focussing on the wolfs, till you complete the quest, then proceed to accept Susan’s Honey and scrollfarm that boss room until you hit level 10. There are two reason for taking the time to scrollfarm here. Firstly you need much more damage, either by leveling and/or potionstacking to be able to handle the next main quest. Secondly level 10 gives you access to speedup, which is definitely worth getting, and also level 2 berserk, which with a glitched cooldown allows for the effect to be nearly permanently active, removing the need to carry berserk potions.

## Horn of Courage - Level 15

The next main quest requires you to kill centaurs for their horns. You head towards the Goethe Grass and go right, up, left which is a room many centaurs. Scrollfarm them until you obtain all 12 Centaur Horns. After that you basically have enough damage to progress through the rest of the game asap. You should however aim to get level 15 by the time you finish End-result of Anna's Heart to be able to get speedup level 2 with a level 1 glitched cooldown and berserk level 3, removing the need to keep a glitched cooldown on it, since it is basically permament at level 3 as it is. Having speedup more readily available is worth spending a little time extra grinding some enemies, since the walks to quest locations coming up hereafter will be much longer. You should also learn Magic Wave, a very good damaging skill, the strongest offensive skill you can get so far.

## Level 16 – 20

Factoring in experience from questrewards you should aim to reach level 5 at the start of chapter V, once again to increase speedup to maximum level 3 with a level 1 glitched cooldown. This causes it to be almost permanent, which is very helpful to get to the very far off quest locations in chapter V. Once again this requires a bit of extra grinding, but that is worth for speedup level 3.

## Level 20 – Final Boss

As there are no more increases in Speedup to get you just rush the bosses in chapter V. You will however gain so much experience in the 2 bossfights and the locked rooms on the way to the final boss, that you will reach level 25 and a single use of each Big Bang and Blade Storm can help dealing with some enemies quickly. The final boss dies in a single hit and you’ve got yourself a run completed.

# General Advice

The glitched categories are a lot harder to go fast in than glitchless in Arcuz, because they add the requirement of being able to somewhat efficiently multitask fighting, movement and inventory management. With the default control settings this basically requires 3 hands. But even if you do change your key bindings with external software, it is still exceptionally tricky to manage all that effectively. This guide only covers the general basics of this category. How to effectively manage all the things the run requires you to multitask and micromanage is best conveyed by watching an actual speedrun of this category. This guide also does not cover how each individual glitch used works in detail, as that would also greatly lengthen it.

This guide will attempt to show why the playerbase chose to keep this type of run in a leaderboard and what makes it so inherently different from Major Glitches and Glitchless.

# The differences made by composition

In the glitchless category the use of composition is heavily restricted by the need to gain the materials for any compose you do via legitimate means. In major glitches, composition is also almost entirely irrelevant, since Potion Stacking is just too broken and composition simply takes too long for too little timegain by comparison. But in minor glitches composition is allowed to shine, since you have the opportunity to duplicate materials and make potentially failable composes work reliably. And while Stacking Potions is forbidden you can obviously mass-use boosting Potions normally, once again because of item duping.

# The Start of the Run

The crucial rng of this run is in the very beginning of it. In order to duplicate items it is necessary to own 21 individual items, whichever those may be. Furthermore since composition gains you a lot of time, you want to do it as early as possible to benefit from this as much as possible. Now what are the composes you are looking for? Well anything related to damage. You can use Large Archangel Potions, Defence Potions and Large Rejuvenation Potions to see to your defensive needs, but your offence is where all the timegain lies. As such 4 composes could be relevant: Weapon Element, Attack Bonus, % Attack Bonus and Crit. Rate. There is however an other restriction, the compose points, that limit how much you may compose on any item. This limit can be lifted via a glitch of course, but that requires you to be able to access the chest, which only works from Chapter 3 onwards. It is also not feasible to try and buy precrafted stuff from Chung, since not only is this random, but you also need a good drop rate to reliably generate all his offer. What you can do however is buy basic equipment from Gran. And Gran does have a 15% chance to offer +2 items. This means the effective compose limit for weapons and armor is 7, whereas it is only 3 for accessoires at this early stage. Now for armor the only thing you could put on it is Crit. Rate, but that means it is also not worth it. You want to be able to swap out and upgrade your armor items similar to glitchless to give yourself a better defence, which is even more necessary here, since you will be fighting against more powerful enemies by comparison to your level. For accessories it means that level 3 % Attack Bonus is the way to go as it is just stronger than Crit. Rate. And for your weapons, this dictates you to have level 4 Fire Element and level 3 % Attack Bonus, also the most offensively powerful way to invest 7 compose points. For these crafts it you require a blessing stone, a small fire crystal, and a small water crystal and the ability to dupe. During the tutorial the cheapest buyable items in the entire game, the small health potions in Chapter 1, allow you to exchange your starting money and whatever you get dropped into more items to satisfy the 21 items requirement during it. This allows you to duplicate the blessing stone and small fire crystal during the tutorial, meaning you will only need the small water crystal as a random offer from Susan afterwards. You will therefore need to use scrolls on her and Gran to get the small water crystal and the +2 weapon from gran. Now what weapon is the optimal choice here? A blade would certainly be the fastest, since it costs the least, leaving you with the most money to buy dupe fodder items afterwards. But realistically the weapon choice should be about what you feel comfortable/fast fighting with. After the tutorials are done you get 400 gold, which you can use to buy more duping fodder. Craft up some Holy Stones first asthey make for good sales to get more money to buy dupefodder with. After getting all the level 3 upgrades, you make some safety copies of your weapon, desync them via save and quit and then get the level 4 fire Element, or just risk it and reset the run if it fails. After that you see to your inventory being well equipped with all the consumable items you require and get going on the main story line. While the availability of the chest in chapter 3 would offer an option to craft more, the playerbase has deemed it not worth it, since it interrupts your inventory management with consumables entirely and only less offensively potent composes are still up for grabs. The run is simply not long enough afterwards to make up for such a time investment. It should also be mentioned that you can glitch out any shops or the composition window, allowing you to move while it is open, meaning you can also level a bit just outside the village while doing this, but since you will keep using scrolls in the village, you can’t use them to connect and reconnect to further away places. You should aim to reach level 4 before all the crafting is done, the highest you can realistically get within the time you have and using only the level 1 slimes outside the village.

## Level 5-6

Your first main quest that requires you to go to a specific place is Susan’s Honey in the Rose Forest which is where you head for. The second to last room of Gino Mountain has a group of level 5 slimes, ideal for getting to level 6 with a bit of scrollfarming.

## Don't be Proud (Level 7)

Further along the way to the bossroom you will pass through a room with 5 level 7 wolfs and 6 level 9 hornets. You scrollfarm this room a bit, focussing on the wolf, till you complete the quest, then proceed to accept Susan’s Honey. You will also get level 7 along the way.

## Level 8-12

The bossroom from Susan’s Honey is an exceptional source of experience even if scrollfarming it forces you to watch the sealing animation every time. Since the highest enemies here are level 11 hornets, going further would involve an experience malus, which means it is time to move on.

## Level 13-15

The next main quest requires you to kill centaurs for their horns, which you are not yet ready for. Instead you head towards the Goethe Grass and go right, right, up, which is a room with only level 17 hornets. While you can not oneshot them with such a level disadvantage, they are still the most reasonable enemies to train against in this area. Once you hit level 15, this gets you will new skills, meaning you can now efficiently farm the level 17 centaurs in the room 2 to your left, which is also a part of the glitchless speedrun route.

## Horn of Courage-Level 19

Since the drops of the centaur horns is random, it is also random how many levels you get during it. But however many you do, afterwards you head towards the next main boss location, though not into it. In Sadness Forest you go right, up, right, down, down, which is a room with a few level 19 hornets and lots of smaller enemies too, which make a good farm up to level 19. After that you clear the next two main quests in Sadness Forest in immediate succession.

## Level 20-22

The next main quest takes you to the Guilty Forest and in it’s third room a bunch of level 21 goblins make for excellent farming material. Go and beat up the boss afterwards.

## Level 23-24

The next main quest takes you to Centaur’s Forest. Along the way to the boss room you will find a variety of level 23 and 25 centaurs and a bunch of level 23 goblins. Train up a bit for the bossfight.

## Level 25-26

Up next is the ghost boss in Rest Valley. Farm the skeletons in the bossroom till level 26, then kill the boss.

# Level 27-29

Up next is the boss in the Magic Cave. Farm the level 29 enemies in the bossroom till level 29, then kill the boss.

## Level 30-31

Up next is the boss in the Abandoned Mine. Try to get level 30 from enemies along the way, though you can also get it in the bossroom of the prior quest. The bossroom should get you to level 31.

## Level 32-33

Finally it is time to go and beat the final boss. The experience curve works out to get you level 33 or almost that, if you clear all the rooms. Beating the final boss on level 33 will complete the speedrun.

Reproducible Glitches

- Glitched %modifiers:

If items with either %Attack, %Defense, %Hp or %Sp Bonus composes are equipped and either strength, agility or constitution are raised correspondingly afterwards, the %modifiers bonus value is not correctly recalculated. This can be fixed by unequipping and reequipping the item in question. Since this glitch is unavoidable always detrimental for the player, fixing it is allowed in glitchless and glitched runs.

- Stacking Encumbrance:

If you are encumbered from carrying too much stuff, reloading the game will apply the emcumbrance slowdown twice. Reloading the game after unburndening yourself fixes the movement speed back to normal.

- Wallclips:

There are two components to a wall: a barrier at the edge, and a force pushing any entity outwards once inside. This collision system does not always work correctly, which allows entities to clip into the wall with enough momentum. The pushing force will not always succeed in pushing the entity out, leading to it getting stuck.

A player can enter walls deliberately in certain places. In most cases this requires speedup, which also provides momentum to prevent being pushed out, allowing for controlled use of wallclips. This glitch is however not as useful as in other games, since entering an different screen requires a transition zone, which are only present at default entrances/exits.

- Hard-locks by teleporting in cutscenes:

After a fight with temporary barriers on the exits, such as bossfights or the endgame gauntlet run, a cutscene is played, during which the barriers disappear. If you use a teleport scroll during the cutscene, the teleport will be successful, but the display will be locked, resulting in an effective hardlock. This can be fixed by opening and closing the menu (shortcut ',').

!- Refreshing shop inventory:

There is a difference to buying by doubleclicking or manually dragging it over to your inventory. If you close and open Susan's offer afterwards, manually dragged over bought items will refresh, whilst doubleclicked items will not. Futhermore if any compose is performed on a manually dragged over item, the refreshment item will share this compose or failure theirof. Since this functionality is the same as with item duping, this offer refreshing is considered a version of item duping and thus abusing it is banned in glitchless categories.

!- Duplicating items: Inventory version:

This glitch requires at least 21 individual items. You open Susans composing window and put the dupeitem. You also need one full inventory page. You take the dupeitem from Susans interface and switch it with a dumpitem in your inventory. The dumpitem is sent to the next page of the inventory by putting it down outside of an active slot in the inventory window. You can pick up the dupeitem again and switch it with as many dumpitems on you inventory page, as you want. Then you refresh your inventory. The last dumpitem will not be consumed and you will get, however many times you duped, copies of the dupeitem.

!- Duplicating items: Chest version:

This dupe requires Pauls chest to work. First you place a dumpitem in the chest. Then you pick up an equiped item from any of your epuip slots, switch it with the dumpitem, switch it back, and reequip it. Then you pick up the dupeitem and place it atop the dumpitem. After stacking the items, you close and reopen the chest, which now contains 2 copies of the dupeitem. This glitch can be done with multiple chestslots at once.

- Restore Composing Points:

If an item is stored in Pauls Chest and a Save&Quit is performed, its Composing Points will be restored to its default base value. This does not work for all chestslots.

!- Failsave Composing:

First you dupe the item you want to compose on, then you Save&Quit. This splits the ingame ids of the duped items. Then you try the compose. If it works you are done, if not you can try an other copy. You should make many copies beforehand to ensure you only need to save and quit once. If you do not Save&Quit the copies will share all composes performed on any one of them, including failures.

- Cooldown preservation:

Cooldown times are updated when a skill is put into the quickslot bar. This means, for example, that a level 3 speedup skill that has been equipped as a level 1 speedup skill will have the duration of level 3, but the cooldown of level 1. Abusing this is considered a glitch.

- Cooldown reset:

All cooldown timers are reset after a Save&Quit. Abusing this is allowed in glitchless categories.

- Refreshing buffs:

If a buff-generating skill is used while its effect is still active, it goes on cooldown, but has no effect. The same applies to buff-potions: they will be consumed without effect. It is not possible to refresh active buffs. Different levels of Holy Light can not overwrite each other.

- Unconnected Transition Zone in Centaur Forest:

There is a location in Centaur Forest with an unconnected Transition Zone. It only works one way and spawns you into the wall in the adjacent room, which you are pushed out of. Using this Transition Zone is considered a glitch.

- Death in Transition Zones:

Sometimes enemies from the map prior can still hit you, while a new area loads in. So far this has only happened with the wolves at the Transition Zone connecting North Forest and Mystery Cave. It requires the wolf to charge up an attack with precise timing relative to the player entering the Transition Zone.

Non-reproducible glitches

- Bugged Ghosts:

If Ghosts split up, this can sometimes result in invincible ghosts, which can appear in 2 forms, either as an "unidentified" enemy entity, which can not be killed, or as a ghost sprite with no hitbox. This glitch can halt progress in seallocked rooms, rendering them unclearable, forcing a reset.

- Deactivated transition zones:

Sometimes transition zones lose their effect, thus walking to the edge of the screen no longer triggers a transition. This leaves the player with only two accessible screens: Wherever he gets the glitch and the village via teleportation scroll. Save&Quit is the only known way to fix this. This glitch is suspected to be connected to scroll-farming boss fields after the boss has been defeated.

In this state-

> it is not possible to use consumables directly from the inventory
> animations for skills do not appear (only the character moves like usual

- Disappearance of duped items:

Sometimes an item duped with the Inventory Dupe or used to set up the Chest Dupe can disappear at random. In the case of the Inventory Dupe this occurs, if copies of the duped item were sold.

- Disappearance of teleport locations:

Sometimes a teleport location can disappear after a Save&Quit. The teleportation point in the village will simply be missing. The reason is unknown.

- Unlocked Shop Windows:

If you interact with any npc to open that npcs shop or chest inventory or susans composition interface, this normally freezes your movement. However if you physically position your mouse over the npc and then keep left mouse button held down, while closing the shop and inventory with ESC, you will get a glitched dialogue box and be allowed to move again. If you then use left mouse button, J or K you can progress the glitched textbox to the corresponding shop window while maintaining the ability to move.

Working with Savefiles

Basics:

Arcuz saves all progress in flash cookies, or Local Shared Objects (LSOs). They can be found (on Windows) at:

%APPDATA%\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\<hash>\cache.armorgames.com\files\games\arcuz-5003.swf\

Walking this path with a file explorer should be easy enough. This folder should contain a file called "Arcuz.sol". This is the currently active save.

Arcuz looks for a file like this (with this exact naming) when the "Play" button is pressed in the main menu. Accordingly, it is not necessary to close and open the game to replace a savefile.

Guide to building a library:

To save your current progress for later restoration, just copy the current savefile to a different location. The file can be renamed without issues, but the game only recognizes savefiles "Arcuz.sol".

I personally use the following setup:

I created a folder called "savefiles", in which I place all .sol-files I want to have ready. I assign descriptive names to these, like "glitched_after_crit.sol". To enable rapid reloads, I created a folder called "current" as a sub-folder of "savefiles". I copy the savefile I want to use into this folder and rename it as "Arcuz.sol". 

To restart from this point, I now just need to Save&Quit, copy-and-replace this file into the folder described at the beginning of this guide, and then press "Play" in the main menu. I also pin the destination folder to Quick Access for easy navigation. The game picks up the new state, and after "Continue", I am ready to go again. This is very useful for grinding mechanics or optimizing pathing, especially later in the game.

Editing savefiles:

Arcuz saves its data in LSOs, which are neither encrypted nor encoded. Accordingly, they can easily be inspected and edited with the usual tools, like the .minerva project: https://mariani.life/projects/minerva/

Here is a sample of things that can be manipulated this way:

- the number of inventory pages
- amount of EXP
- amount of money
- level (even above lv 35)
- AP
- SP (max / current)
- HP (max / current)
- level of skills
- level of Strength / Agility / Constitution / Luck
- teleport location
- quest progress
- phase progress
- map progress
- inventory contents
- achievements

Many of these are simple integer entries, some are more complicated structures, but nothing seriously complicated. Inventory contents are the most complex, but also not too difficult. Items can not only be changed or upgraded, but also created from scratch.

The resulting files can be used just like other savefiles. There are no serious corruptions known. Some manipulations result in unplayable states, but replacing the current save (by changing the file directly, or by using the "New Game"-button) has saved all reported issues.
