BEFORE YOU READ

Don't follow this route 1:1. Everything here is phrased weirdly as a ton of my execution is also from my muscle memory, this being used to strengthen it. Regardless, I feel as if this route is finalized enough to be published onto Speedrun.com. If you want to use this for yourself, I recommend playing through the entire game with the route in mind. If you feel as if you don't understand the strategies used here / found optimization for any of the missions. You are freely allowed to make changes to your liking, and maybe even message me about it. I may add it in here

ROUTE

Intro

Notes: Enter in codes: "Zombero", "Killzombie", "Wikifandom", "endofgasoline". Climb on top of the barrel at the left to kill the zombies in a birds eye view

Woodlands

Notes: Get the Stg 44. It sells for the most

Target Practice

Notes: Get the pan, shoot left barrel and deal with the rest. Hope your weapon does not glitch

Dirty Job

Notes: Go slow, you only need to click the watch.

Fix the Broken Fence

Completion: When getting Clear the Destroyed Factory, Get Speech level 25 and ask for the free ammo

Clear the Destroyed Factory

Notes: 3 grenades are used here. One to deal with the initial horde, one to deal with the ones in the house, and one to deal with the zombies upstairs (make sure to shoot the left edge of the right horde from upstairs to kill all zombies)

Destruction of Mines

Notes: Get the bat. Kill a bunch of zombies using the rocket launcher before leaving to hopefully get tons of scrap

Transfer of the radioactive waste

Notes: Ideally you want to exit with health low enough so that you can get a quick death warp at Photo of Boris's wife. To do this, throw a grenade at the tunnel when exiting up to get gas

Notes: Since you are low health from last mission. You REALLY want to be careful

Completion: Get Boris's, Elder's and then Frank's. Get Perks: Nothing, Good student, and Reading. At this point, the game is asking you to select your character profile. So just click on it and then back to map. Switch to the MP5 from store

Talk to Amanda to get a free pistol, go to the left to get Nature Magazine. Go to the Treehouse and get the Shooting for Beginners. Read all books. Sell all your scrap and leftover weapons from the store. Get all the StHg 24 Grenades, Grenade Mk2, and Bandages. Talk to the Elder and get the grenades from him

Science Base Entrance Exploration

(1/3): Leave the barrel alone for later. Kill zombies normally

(2/3): Try and get close to the barrel at the bench. You will use this to kill the zombies quickly

(3/3): Go to the left behind the rock and throw a grenade. Go forward and shoot the barrel

Completion: Go directly for Work for the Doctor

Clearing science base entrance

Notes:

(1/3): Throw a grenade at the zombies in the cave

(2/3): Stand close to the barrel on the rock and shoot out the zombies on the right. If the dog gets close, destroy the barrel

(3/3): Stand close to the barrel on the bench and shoot out the zombies on the rock, park, and base. If the dog gets close, destroy the barrel

When hacking the terminal, make sure to stand on top of the stairs to get to the lever quicker

Completion: Go directly for Medicine for the Doctor

Notes: For some weird reason, the zombies at the roof don't want to pathfind to you at the start. Use this to your advantage!

Notes: Shoot a bit of the wood the moment you get the chainsaw to get a small head start

Lost Amanda, Search for clues

Notes:

(1/2): Shoot the barrel close to the house. Throw a grenade at the zombies on the pillar to the left of the house. Kill the other zombies normally

(2/2): Throw a grenade on the pillar at the back and kill the other zombies normally

Completion: Get the old guy mission

Lost Amanda, Negotiation

Completion: Go directly for Exploring the ground floor of the science base

Notes: Heal from 3 food cans

(1/3): Kill if they are killing you

Transition to 2: Kill the zombies at the front door using the barrel

(2/3): Ditto. Another barrel at the left

(3/3): Use the barrel wisely. Ideally to kill the armored guy

Bringing documents about experiments

Notes: Save the barrel for later. Once you reach close to the control room panel and have to go back. Shoot the barrel. Before fixing the power and having to go through the hallway again, use a bandage

(1/2): Kill as normal

(2/2): Kill the armored guy, wait for the zombies to clutter up, and use a grenade. Kill any objective zombies that survived

Notes: Remember not to try and avoid encounter. Always go straight on. If there is a safe at the right, go for it

Bye Bye Science Base

Notes: Use the Rugby Grenades on the boss. Also make sure to shimmey close to the terminal to interact with it quicker. Open doors S01 and select the middle option. Activate Auto-Destruction and select the bottom option, make sure to press ESC to get out of the terminal quicker. Contrary to what the objective says, you can really take your time here. If there is a safe at the front desk, get it

Springfield

Reminders:

4000 coins to unlock the vehicle

Notes: Talk to Andrew (Three tops and then ESC), Jeff, Try and buy a shovel, Drunkard, finish Locked Out quickly for the free 500 XP, SKIP TONY, speak to the other trader and get any grenades / bandages you can find, talk to the Mayor, get the Map on the right and use it

Defense of the east side

Completion: Get Pick-me-up Perk

Deliverance

Notes:

(1/4): First QB of the run. Don't blow him up

(2/4): Throw a grenade on the door opening. Look behind and blow up the barrel. Look to the right and kill of the zombies normally

Save Soldier: Kill the dog before he becomes a big problem. You might be cutting it close with the zombies when trying to save the guy

(3/4): Zombies at the hole, prisoner at the back

(4/4): Zombies from both holes. If there are barrels, try and use them

Completion: Ask for extra ammunition and get the 5 grenades

Clear the main passage

Notes:

(1/4): Meh

(2/4): Four of the zombies spawn on the hole at the front, the rest spawn at the back. If there is a barrrel, use it. If not, use a grenade

(3/4): Meh

Grenades: 1 if unlucky

Completion: Go to New car parts

New Car Parts

Notes:

Front Bumper: At the walls of the wooden shack

Door: At the two trees

Lights: At the other edge of the puddle

Transition: Kill the zombies with a grenade. Finish off the bat with a few shots

Bumper: Where the lone zombie is. Which is also the zombie used for the Death Warp

Death Warp

Completion: When talking to the Mayor. Ask for extra ammunition

Repairing the Barricade

Car Repair Kit (Tramps)

Ideas: If you can somehow bug the mission status to continue forward. You could possibly death warp with the lone zombie

Notes: DO NOT USE THE SHOP YET! WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE AT DECENT ENOUGH TRADING LEVEL

Welder: Right wall, far left cabinet

Fixing the ventilation: Make sure your camera is looking at the control so that you can enable the ventilation quicker

Completion: Make sure to actually EQUIP THE CAR

Caravan Defense

Notes:

Initial Zombies: Kill the ones on the back. By the time you do, the others would crowd themselves for a grenade kill

First Room: Grenade

Second Room: If there is a safe, lock pick. Cuddle up the zombies and go for a grenade kill

Boss Fight: DO NOT USE THE ROCKET LAUNCHER. Use the Vector and aim for the head. It should be over with a single reload

Grenades: 3

Completion: Sell all your Scrap + Rockets you got from the boss fight. Get the Runner Perk and invest 10 points in Health. Ignore the Mayor if he has a mission for you

Extermination at the Airport

Notes:

(1/3): Only Middle and Rights

(2/3): All sides

Completion: Go straight for Flooded Water Purified

Flooded Water Purifier (Optional. Recommended for levelling up and less gas problems in the future)

(1/3): Throw a grenade at the middle

(2/3): A QB spawns behind the bridge. Be careful when dealing with him

Repairman: His reward is pretty useless. But I really don't want him to die so get Curing Level 30. Also remember to GET THE WELDER

(3/3): A barrel may spawn here. So use that to kill the zombies efficiently

Repairing the pipe: Two explosive zombies are at the bottom of the stairs. Make sure to let them explode before you start fixing the pipes

Death Warp

Very important package

Notes:

(1/4): Go to the right side and kill the dog, wait for the zombies inside the home to exit completely and kill them all, look behind you and use the barrel to kill the rest of the zombies

(2/4): Throw a grenade at the staircase

(3/4): Throw a grenade inside the entrance

Weld: Top Right corner case. Right wall

(4/4): Just outside the door, a QB spawns. Be careful

Finding Ruby, Clues

Long Cutscene, Risky

Note: This mission has a lot of zombies. But all of them can be skipped. Problem is that skipping requires a lot of bandages, or you can waste a few grenades. A barrel can sometimes spawn at the start, if it does. Open the door and then shoot the barrel. If not, spend one grenade to kill the initial zombies and a few bandages

(1/2): Kill the zombies in the fence, explode the barrel near the car, and then kill the remaining zombies in the field

(2/2): Throw a grenade on the zombies in the field, explode the barrel near the bush, kill the rest in the shack

Searching for Clues

Notes:

(1/3): If there is a barrel, get all the zombies crowded up and explode the barrel

(2/3): Kill the fat zombie at the right. Go back to the entrance and shoot the barrel, kill the fat zombie at the left

(3/3): If a barrel is at the left. Shoot it, grenade if not. Throw a grenade at the right

Garden Grass

Notes:

(1/3): A barrel may spawn at the front which you can use to clear the first zombies. If none, grenade

Ascending the stairs: Shimmey at the left wall so you don't get trapped

(2/3): Grenade

(3/3): Clump and Grenade

Grenades: 2, possibly 3

Family Housing

Notes:

(1/4): Kill the wolves + exploding guy at the front, use the barrel on the left zombies, use a grenade on the right

House: Careful of the bear trap. Shimmey to the left to dodge the arrows

(2/4): Grenade

Barn: Careful of the bear trap. Shimmey to the right to dodge the arrows

(3/4): Clear the zombies on the left. Use the explosive barrel on the right

(4/4): Rush towards the field. If an explosive barrel is present, use that

Death Warp possible. But slow

Rad-X

Notes: This mission requires you to go to Springfield. You better have a good gas reserve. You can use the one on the Journey awards. Speaking of which. DO NOT GET THE GAS REMAINS

Kill Zombies: Grenade on the door, barrel on the back, grenade on the right side, barrel on the left side, shoot any stragglers

Woodlands Treasure Map

Notes: Get as much woodland treasure maps as you can and distract yourself to get as much coins as possible

Returning from Woodlands

At this point. You now reached Level 21, which means you can continue with the Mayor + Tony missions. Perks don't matter much at this point, get whatever you feel like would help

Mayor's Ride

Notes:

Start: Pray that the QB does not get you. If they do, you only really waste on ammo

Rope: Clear the room using a grenade. Shoot any stragglers, the rope is inside the box

Transition: Pray to Zombie Bat RNG that they do not hit you

Winch: At the truck

Transition: Pray again and hope that QB and exploder guy did not see you

Death Warp

Rocket Launcher for Jeep (Tramps)

Note: Safe may spawn here. Make sure to make good use out of it. This is also where the 50 speech from earlier pays off (Middle Option)

(1/3): Wait for the zombies to clump together and shoot the barrel. Throw grenade if none

(2/3): Kill a few zombies that show up on the holes from the barrel. And then shoot the barrel when the other zombies come close

Door: Grenade

Rocket Stand: Grenade may not be required

(3/3): Kill the zombies at the right side of the hole, wait for the left to clump up and then shoot the barrel

Completion: Go straight for First Job

Notes:

Start: You are greeted with a kill zombies objective with 43 of them. Barrels are good but slow, you might want to just use two grenades at the start

(1/3): Grenade. Barrel may also work if it spawns there

Notes:

Start: A lot of zombies spawn in, but you don't need to kill them. If there is a barrel, shoot it. Otherwise, grenade

Entrance: More zombies spawn in and you also don't need to kill them. Problem is that the group has a strong spitter.

Plant Seed 1: In the right locker

Transition: This part is absolutely important. You want to make sure the strong spitter does not block your path, if you feel like they are just about it. Use a flashbang to stall them out. If they block your path, you waste a few seconds

Plant Seed 2: In the left locker

Completion: Go straight for Road to Eden

Notes: Don't kill the zombies at the start since you may need them for a Death Warp. You might get unlucky and have some zombies stuck at the door though, you can kill them

Energy Drink (Stays until Looking for ammunition). Hard

Note:

(1/3): Barrel may spawn on the right

(2/3): Barrel may spawn on the right. Kill the armored on the left

Fertilizer 1: Simple

Fertilizer 2: Try and clear the path so that you don't get blocked when returning

Fertilizer 3: Tough spitter might not let you leave. So make sure to chip him down in case he does. You can also use flashbang if he is getting close

Comlpetion: Go directly to Troubles with the courier

Notes:

Kill Zombies: Kill the zombies on the front rock normally. QB Spawns to be careful. Kill the rest of the zombies via grenade

Escape: Reminder that there is a back door which may not be filled with zombies

Start: Zombies at the start might be tricky to deal with. Try to push them out ideally

Bridge: Big guy shows up there. You want to deal with him quickly. Use a grenade if you are facing too much trouble

Last Door: This might be tricky to face on if low. Flashbang may be permitted, bandage if none

Notes: Use an MK2 Extra grenade to quickly kill the bandits

Revenge from Afar

Notes:

Weapon: In the coffin

(1/3): Kill the QB. Weaken the dogs and use a grenade to kill the zombies quickly

(2/3): Try and kill only the QB with the barrel. If the dog dies as well, kill the zombies normally. If not, use a grenade

(3/3): Weaken the Police + Armored guy and throw a grenade

Notes:

(1/5): Get the zombies close to the hole and grenade

(2/5): Use the barrel

(3/5): Kill the zombies in the hole from behind the table and shoot the barrel when the horde gets close

Poison 1: Get the poison. You might want to lure the zombies out of the doorway to make an escape

(4/5): Kill the zombies on the left hole. Explode the barrel when the zombies on the right start forming up

(5/5): Wait for the zombies to group up and throw a grenade. Weaken anyone that may be strong enough to resist

Poison 2: INTERACTING WITH THE TERMINAL GIVES YOU A HACKING MINIGAME. BE CAREFUL!! And also the poisons are Left, Left, Right

Notes:

Poison 1: Dog might be chasing you. Just kill it and move on

Poison 2: Be careful not to attract QB

Poison 3: Hope that your dodging skills work against the bandits in the pier

Notes: Yeah just shoot the zombies. You can use Tina as a meatshield (nevermind. Tina is not actually a good meatshield (In fact, she is really bad at surviving))

Completion: Get the Money. Get Scavenger 2 and sell all your scrap

TUNNEL MISSIONS: GET AS MUCH HEALING ITEMS AS YOU CAN

Springfield Plans

Notes: Rearrange your inventory in case some useful scrap drops. You can't do so when you equip the chainsaw

(1/3): Four zombies on the left hole. Two zombies on the right. You can use the barrel if it's there

(2/3): You can use a barrel I guess

(3/3): Barrel

After this. You ideally want as much health as possible

Start: Get the zombies out of the entrance

Close to the key: Use a MK2 Extra grenade to clear the zombies immediately

Key: At the far right of the box

Archives: Shoot your way out. Use a few grenades / bandages just in case. Careful not to kill all the zombies because you want to death warp out

Blocks and a bag: Be careful cause a QB could kill you whilst in the cutscene. Don't kill all the zombies from the hole whilst fixing it to allow for a Death Warp

Notes: Be careful during the last hallway before the tunnel because there are tons of bandits there. 2 MRE also seems to do the job well

Second Floor: No need to kill anyone here

Notes: You might need a few bandages in case the bandits are too much for you

Looking for a traitor (Tramps)

Notes: Gasoline on the right cabinet

Notes: This mission can be really tough. Be careful when dealing with the bandits!

Notes: Despite being the final boss in Springfield. He's quite pathetic

Downloading backup files (Tramps)

Note: This will be the last time you will visit the Tramps base. Buy anything you find important there

Sun of the City

Reminders: Mission directly to your right. Use your Energy Pistol. If you are feeling risky. You can try to purchase for a SCAR by purposely avoiding the fire-rate upgrade in your Vector (maybe even reload but that would be too much). As well as finding every single treasure and crate from Springfield. 8000 coins for a new car. Get Speech Lv 80

Items: Nature magazine behind the truck in the hangar.

Roadblock (Bandits)

Notes: At this point. You want to use your Energy Pistol to deal with bandits from a distance

Completion: Go straight to redford

Completion: Go straight for The lost unit

Notes: Keep the fireman alive for a death warp

Completion: Get the car from the guy. Don't forget to equip it

Strange Orders

Notes: QB spawns on the right side of the house in the third Kill Zombies objectives. Be careful. Leave the prisoner alive for a death warp

Notes: Hide behind the building and wait for the guy to get close to you. When he is close enough, go straight at him and hope that he decides he wants to melee you. Then do the Force Melee Trick on him. Because of other enemies, you might not be able to trick him forever

Take the bucket. Move all the top-right water to the bottom-left. Making sure to kick the cobweb whilst doing this. Take the candle and burn the rope. Collect the Silver Key. Do the hacker minigame. Enter inside the cage and lockpick the left chest. Collect the Bronze Key. Do the among us wire minigame. Do the circuit minigame. Collect the golden key and free yourself!

Notes: The penultimate mission! Switch to the strong ammo and use the Mk3 grenades. Consume all the stat increasing stuff. You deserve it

Last Fight (Octomander)

Prep: Sell all the useless stuff you don't need anymore. Get as much ammo and healing as you possibly can. Use your golden coins to refresh the shops if you need to

Strat:

Phase 1: Stand slightly at the left of middle. When the Octomander spits, switch to the other side

Phase 2: Similar stuff. When the octomander puts its tentacles down. Move in a circle pattern
