# How do I play on PC?

On PC, you can use **WASD,** the **arrow keys**, or your **Mouse Pointer**.

# How do I play on Mobile?

On Mobile, you need to tap in the direction you want to go.

# What does each Boost do?

## Dash Pad:

The dash pad launches you forward and provides you with I-frames upon landing.

## Speed Boost:

The Speed Boost provides you with 1 stack of Boost (up to 3). Activating it will provide you with an increase in speed for approximately 10 seconds.

## Heart:

The heart will heal you an amount equal to 1 heart (out of 3).

## Coin:

The coin only appears in the **Time Trial** Game mode. It will reduce your final time by approximately 3 seconds.

## Puppy:

The puppy will spawn in a random area in the map. Picking up the puppy will protect you from the Kraken up to 3 times.

# What should I watch out for?

Well, first of all, any obstacles.

Also, ripples and seaweed that will slow you down

Whirlpools, that flip your direction

NPCs, which are basically moving obstacles

And of course, the Kraken: The Kraken spawns in many different spots on the map. Upon passing through those areas, the Kraken will activate. He will constantly follow you until he reaches you, instantly ending your run.

Remember, the puppy can be picked up, protecting you from the Kraken.

# Cheat Codes and/or Exploits:

(**Note: Using cheats will cause the run to be rejected upon submission, unless the category is dedicated to said cheat).**

## 1. Kraken mode:

In an Endless mode run, going only left for the first 700m of the run will lead you to an area surrounded by 8 Krakens and a bunch of obstacles, and in the center, 3 whirlpools (highlighted by a one green square if High Visibility is on).

Going through the whirlpools (more so the green square that appears when High Visibility is on) will turn the player in a Kraken.

As the Kraken, the player is unstoppable. Hitting any obstacles will destroy the obstacle. Hitting NPC surfers will stun them. Hitting Boosts will destroy the Boosts. All of this while leaving the player unnafected.

## 2.  Ninja Cat :D

(**Note: activating this cheat code will still allow the run to be submitted and verified).**

By pressing "up arrow; up arrow; down arrow; down arrow; left arrow; right arrow; left arrow; right arrow; B key; A key" on PC, the player's character will be turned into a Ninja Cat.

### 3. EDGE

Typing "edge" while in the character selection screen will provide you with infinite Speed Boosts for 1 round.

## 4. MICROSOFT

Typing "Microsoft" while in the character selection screen will provide you with infinite Hearts for 1 round. You will still be vulnerable to the Kraken.

## 5. BIG

Typing "big" while in the character selection screen will make your character significantly larger for 1 round. This will surprisingly **not increase your hitbox's size!**

## 6. SAFE

Typing "safe" in the character selection screen will provide you with infinite hearts and shields for 1 round. You will be safe from everything, even the Kraken.

## How to speedrun "Let's Surf":

Depending on the Category, different sets of rules will be used. To check the rules, just click "**Show Rules**" while on the page of your Category of choice. By default, the pop up will display general *Game Rules*. At the top of the pop up, just click "Category Rules" (positioned at the top **right**).

There is no *single* answer, but expect your run to be reviewed within **1 week**.

## How does the Timing System work?

(From 08/07/2024 onwards)
For Endless and Zig Zag Runs, they must contain the full footage, uploaded to YouTube. From there we use the website "https://retime.mcbe.wtf" to retime the run, for more accurate timing. This method helps to keep the leaderboards accurate.
For Time Trial Runs, the in-game timer is utilized (final time including a reduction from collecting coins) to time the runs.

You can use Glitches, Bugs, Cheats, and Cheat Codes in your runs for this category.

Exploits

High Visibility Mode allows the Player to see the hitboxes of every object in the game.
It can be toggled in the Game Settings.

Reduced Speed Mode allows the Player to travel at Half the Normal Speed.
It can be toggled in the Game Settings.

Reduced Speed

Pet Shield, Lightning Boosts, Hearts, and Coins (in Time Trial) cannot be picked up.
If one -does- get picked up, the run gets disqualified.

Hardcore

A glitchless run disallows minor glitches that benefit the player, such as the boost glitch.

Glitchless

Runs in which no cheats are used, whether that be foreign hacks or the cheats Edge: Surf provides within the game.
These Include:
 The speed glitch, High visibility, Reduced Speed, Reduced Motion.

Vanilla

Any Run that uses the provided cheats supplied by Edge: Surf or outside sources to improve times.
These Include: Speed Glitches, High Visibility, Reduced Speed, and Reduced Motion.
