My friend and I have been running the last planet, Ascend, and have come up with 2 distinct strategies that we consider to be separate categories: Ascend Any% and Ascend All Cards. We'd like to submit times under those categories, with the following distinction for All Cards:
- All 4 cards (Red, Green, Purple, Yellow) must be collected in the course of the run
Since this level is so different from the other story levels, this category would only apply to Ascend
Awesome run! 3 very helpful skips that I never even thought of. I'll have to try a run with these skips included. My best time so far is 6:08.9 which included all keys (because I hadn't even realized skipping them was an option.) The best time I know of on the map was 5:35.7 by Fireswamp, but I'm not sure which if any of these skips he used.
By the way, one big time save you seem to have missed is that you can use ixeide to almost instantaneously kill the green orbs at the start of the boss fight. I'm fairly sure that by adding in ixeide you will quite easily leap past my current time.
Also, if you're measuring purely by in-game time you can use the "specialevent" group filter in the playlog to check out the times submitted by myself, Fireswamp, and some other speed minded folks from the discord. We don't necessarily have all the very best times, but we have some quite solid ones posted on a lot of the maps.
I just tried adding in your strats and got a 4:40.7 for Any%. I kinda cheated and used 1/2 speed for the run though. If this gets added as a leaderboard category I'll probably record a run to submit. I would recommend disallowing save/load, pausing, and changing the game speed if this does get added.
