I was checking the Sky Curve 1 scenario world record and I noticed the #1 time was accelerating in a way that wasn't normally possible, so I started playing around with clutch feathering at first, then ESC mode, and I found something really weird. If you switch to Drift ESC and launch the car, then reset and switch to ESC off, the car can now launch in 4th gear dropping the clutch and it doesn't bog down at all. This makes the car noticeably faster, and I believe it was used in Sky Curve 1's current world record.
In my own testing, mid-55 seconds becomes possible on Sky Curve 1, as well as high 5 second range on Moose Test (the sequential gearbox makes it harder to use). It didn't work on the Police RS in Bank Robbery for me.
Anyone know why this is happening in the physics? Is it considered a glitch, and is it legal to use?
Edit: Currently discussing it with Diamondback on the BeamNG forums, will update everyone on how that goes.
I've noticed this in some of the records also (albeit some of them former records), and didn't understand how to even do it. There's quite a few times where the runs start with a car launching from 3rd or 4th gear, second place time for big air vanster comes to mind since I went out of my way to beat that time without using any sort of trick, and I remember it well.
For that trick, I just had it in low range and dumped the clutch. As long as it's increasing in throttle and making boost, it should have enough power to launch optimally. At least, it did the last time I checked.
