Done and done!

There is quite a few seconds of difference between the games. In the Genesis version you can instantly skip the "cutscenes" bewteen levels where on SNES you have to wait a bit.

I believe the only major animation difference is during the 2'nd level when you have to climb up to the hangglider, the falling rock gives a different mood. There could be more with some of the new strats used. I haven't played the game on SNES in a long time.

here's a few of the things i've noted while doing runs:

  • shorter super pac-man duration on genesis
  • gum monster fight gives you control much faster on genesis (and takes less hits as a result)
  • using the Look, Look command is much easier to control on snes. of course, timing your command using visual cues can give you a desirable result in genesis
  • ghosts behave completely differently between platforms. on the rooftop, in the SNES version you can immediately throw a power pellet and eat the ghosts. on genesis, you have to wait a bit until the ghosts appear on screen (and pray your pellet stays on screen)
  • during super pac-man sequences on genesis, it's important to keep ghosts on screen at all times. you have a bit of leeway on SNES before they convert back into objects

in a nutshell, SNES is the most polished, visually pleasing game (and has better audio samples Kappa). Genesis is the better speedgame.
