Hey I'm pretty new to speed running in general, I've tried to set up the deathfly as shown on multiple videos but it seems to be malfunctioning for me or something jst isn't working. Do you have any tips or suggestions?

By malfunctioning I mean I get an encounter prior to where I should or I just don't get one etc

Check if you're using the correct emulator, if you are, then the problem is you. Though to be honest manips are pretty hard to pull off, so just keep practicing and you'll get it sooner or later.

I'm doing it on a physical gameboy D: I'm unsure if that would affect it. I'll keep giving it a go

it would affect it, the manips only work on GBP/GBI/GBA/SP and the approved emulator.

I'm doing it on sp :(
