Hey folks, I was playing around with the NTSC-J version of this a few days ago and decided to do a any%2 (otherwise known as beat N.Trophy), and after I beat N-Trance I got a strange message on screen when I was unable to advance to the final 'world'.

When (google) translated into english it says:
'18 U-pa one Fekutodaiya
It is necessary'

'Fekutodaiya' roughly means gem/jewel.

I went and did an identical run of the PAL version and saw no such message and was able to advance as usual. 

I'm confused as to what the '18' is referring too, as there are; 21 Crystals, 24 Gems (21 are obtainable at this point in the game, and 4 of each gem shard (totaling 12).

In the PAL/NTSC version, to advance in this point of the game (if you didn't already know) is to obtain all of the gem shards in each (platforming) level, but it seems that the NTSC-J version has some strange different prereq.

Any ideas folks?

Oh sweet! Thanks spike! I'm going to take a guess and say that the perfect gems are grey ones (on the basis tharethere are only 12 coloured ones).

I''ll do some more testing today and report back my findings here.

Confirmed! Collected the grey gems, and tested it with each one, and after the 18th gem was collected I was able to advance.

The only thing that we can conclude from this is that NTSC-J isn't viable for any%2/beat N. Trophy. No one was uising NTSC-J anyway, but just a heads up for anyone who wanted to do some experimenting.
