ok so I feel like there should be more moderators for this game, ik there are a few people who would like to be mod for this game, including me.
I am personally a moderator for a game with around 50 runs. It's dead although so I would like to be a mod in another game. I also almost made it into a speedrun 4 mod.
Not like this place is really that useful considering most of the actually good players don't post runs here
@bboccio66 says that we don't need any mods, but he is very inactive as far as verifying runs on here.
In his defense, this is more of a dead community. He should be more active, despite that.
It's a small community, not many runs are submitted, and they aren't very difficult to verify in the first place. I've been trying to get runs verified within a week. For something like this, solo moderation is fine. And like logic said, most runs and talk are done in the discord anyway. A majority of video proof from there isn't submitted here. There's even an in-game leaderboard, and these boards are redundant imo.
@bboccio66 Maybe we should get it removed then, it's a dead community by far anyway. This game being on the leaderboards in 2020 has to violate like several sr.c game rules, since they didn't even allow speedBLOX to get in, and that is basically the same speedrun-wise as this
speedBLOX has in-game time already installed, however a major difference is that the maps are community created, (I personally have made 2 maps, unsure if they are still there. They're called Waterfall and Gold if you want to check) which is likely a reason why it wasn't accepted. Other than that, it is pretty similar to SBB speedrun-wise.
@supabloxyball I see your point, but I disagree. Most of the in-game leaderboards are filled with hackers and whenever Mael resets the leaderboards, the times are usually unoptimized and the hackers come back to the leaderboards. Also having this game on speedrun.com has helped a lot of new runners including myself to learn some of the strategies involved with the game and apply them to runs myself. It is a lot easier to access recorded and verified times here than to try and find runs in the discord server. It also allowed a lot of people coming here to improve their skills and find many new categories of the run to play. Basically, this category has helped a lot of people and I don't think that it should be taken down.
@Misfortune let’s look at the pros and cons of this getting removed
Pros: -Dead community -Nobody plays the extra categories -The game is fine by itself
Cons: -New players feel better here -This has a discord link, which is hard to find
I still think its fine to keep the boards, despite low activity. If anything, it would help players trying to get better by pointing them in the right direction, even if its just from finding a discord link. Anything is useful. As for the point about other games getting on the site, speedBLOX and games like it are weird cases. The best thing I can compare it to are surf/bhop style games. Bhop/Surf games have somewhat credible leaderboards, and the UI mimics it somewhat. For a game like that, it would just be a mess to moderate, considering the amount of maps available. For blocky ball in comparison, there are 16 main maps, with not many being added beyond that (mostly testing maps, which I left out of full game for a reason and could be removed altogether). Sure, Roblox is volatile in terms of physics updates, both in-game and in the engine, but we can't really control that, and that's why legacy exists. If this game had, say 50 maps for example, it would fall under the case of speedBLOX I think. I don't see a good reason to take away the boards for this altogether, and unless I get a specific request from a sr.com moderator or something of that kind, these boards will stay.
I believe the boards should stay too as they taught me a lot of shortcuts and helped with physics. What you said about speedblox isn't really true because we were planning on having 4 moderators to begin with but...
As a community request, jumpless and boostless were added as full-game categories.
I added Luxtra as a moderator (since they moderate the SBB discord), and added Rube7, YT_Valentin and dankdarkel_ as verifiers to keep up with submissions.
