Hello, I am a mod of the home alone for genesis speedrun and seem to have run into an issue with how different emulators are used and the speed gains from them.
The game has a set time limit so in the end whatever is the fastest to get to the end of the time limit, that will be what people use to run (this is similar to other home alone games, like the NES version where everyone is tied for 1st).
The run has recently been beaten by a few others, including myself, and uses a new strat to get the wet bandits stuck so that the time can just run out. My thought was that the new strat saved time from the old one, but apparently it's the difference in emulators.
The gist is that the genesis plus gx emulator included in retroarch seems to ultimately save 3 seconds over using other emulators. I'm not quite sure how to handle this or if there are general rules on situations like this or on genesis emulators to be used. I don't really have a real hardware test that I can do but I could get something set up if needed. I used genesis plus gx because I had it installed on my system, and looking back on my previous run I did use a different emulator.
