Currently rejected:
- Car%: Category is too vague and doesn't make much sense in the context of speedrunning.
- Die%: doesn't have any room for optimization of the run as it would just be the matter of walking right into the fire near the shipwreck... additionally, die% categories are generally not a thing in speedrunning in general Currently accepted (not added yet):
- 200spuds Currently being considered: -Craftbot%
Die% it would be like die in any sort of way and would be split between glitchless and glitch. I think it would be a short and somewhat competitive speed run because it would not be time-consuming. Because it's short, many people may try it as their first speedrun to see if they like speedrunning or not.
unfortunately, die% doesn't have any room for optimization of the run as it would just be the matter of walking right into the fire near the shipwreck... additionally, die% categories are generally not a thing in speedrunning in general
How about a mechanic station battery called Battery%, where you have to get to the first mechanics station and place the battery in the slot to activate the station.
IDEAS... TapeBot% Kill a tape bot. Startfire% put out the fire in crashed ship. RareChest% Finding and destroying a rare chest.
Hope that helps!
Max% Get for every upgradable item, at least 1 max upgraded (so max seat, engine, thruster, etc.) This category would of course take way longer than others, but it would give room for new strats (like fast haybot kills and component kit looting) and in multiplayer your team can split up and work faster. Also, more of the game's content gets used, instead of just some hammer-powered box going Mach 1 towards a warehouse
Btw love the fact this game has a speedrun community and I hope it grows bigger
Roof% Get to the warehouse roof as fast as possible, with any method the player chooses.
Why? A number of players in the community do not go through the warehouse from the bottom, and go to the roof instead. This category can let those players shine.
Benefits? In some cases, resource management... building techniques, and in multiplayer, cooperation. Players can also express their creativity in regards on the methods of transporting themselves upwards.
Sky% You have to hit the sky border as fast as possible. Any method can be used to get there, the timer stops as soon as you crouch and cannot jump anymore or if you build a flying vehicle and fly up to the top.
You must start from a new save file.
