Wii U Virtual Console Version?

Hello,

I don't currently run this game but I've been thinking about maybe doing so in the future. Looking at the different versions of the game listed, I see Wii Virtual Console but not Wii U Virtual Console. Would runs of the Wii U Virtual Console version be allowed or would I have to run one of the other versions listed?

Thanks!

Wii U VC is fine. I'll check the box.

Thanks guys for the replies. Just curious, when runs in tournaments are done on Speed Gaming, which version is used? I assume the original NES version?

I would think people are allowed to play whatever version is allowed for the runs, although I have only ever seen people play the NES one either on real hardware or via an emulator in a tournament. Ultimately it would depend on the rules of the tournament.

You'll rarely see people use the Wii U VC version in racing and speed running because the lag of that version makes speed running hard.

It's nearly universally accepted that the game is easiest to run in a zero lag environment on the original console.

I'm just waiting for someone to run the GBA version

Well, I guess I could run the Wii U VC version in a Tournament, it would just put me at a disadvantage? How much lag are we talking about here? I do have an original NES with the original cart, it would just be easier for me to set up my Wii U to stream :)

@JSR2gamers I bought the FDS GBA version to see if it was a viable alternative, back before the FDSStick came out.

It's terrible.

@CajunKishi I didn't measure it but I find it unplayable. And I started on Wii VC.

The Wii U VC tends to have awful input lag (for some games it’s the worst input delay out there) so if you start with that version, switching off of it might be painful because your timing will be all off.

I’d recommend using the NES if you have it, it’ll be a better experience if you start to get better times.
