Hey everyone, A-Frame and I have been wanting to add rules to the X-Men speedrun. But we noticed not all of us stop the timer at the same time. We want to reach out to the community and decided where the timer should end.

There are two possible endings, at black screen after ending fade out or last hit on Magneto.

I’m hoping to hear back from as many people as possible before putting the rules in stone, so please feel free to post your thoughts here. We’ll make a decision based on what the community thinks is best and wait until we get some feedback. Look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts. Thank you.

Hey Shane, thanks for making this thread.

My leaning is for the final split to occur after fade-out when the screen turns black. I believe you still have control of your character until that point (though the window between final hit and black screen is quite short). If that's the case, timing would run from the point you gain control of your character to when you lose control.

From my point of view. In theory, your run could be ruined by a misclick (reset button for example) even between the final hit and the fade out. Also, most games ends when it's not the game anymore and it's the ending screen/credits aka fade out.

But my most important argument about it is that it's MUCH easier to end a split on fade out than last hit when you need to highly focus on your movements/actions even if the final boss is "easy".

My only counter argument that I've not tested out would be that different versions could make the game different on that part but I doubt that it's an issue.

P.S. we could also discuss about having more categories than Any% but it would be on another post.
