A lot of runs in this game use different timing, but they placed in same categories.

Let's look at the timings being used.

1) Rules timing - timing from rules of the game on speedrun.com . Starts on clicking first mission button in campaign menu. Ends when results list of final mission of campaign appear.

2) Good timing - timing from one of @ROMaster2 topics on forums (?). Starts when first campaign mission beggings. Ends when results list of final mission of campaign appear.

3) Old timing - timing from the 2016-2017 or so. Starts when control upon units in first campaign mission is gain. Ends when final "Mission completed" message appears.

Let's start with normal prologue campaign.

1. @eLmaGus - uses rules timing

2. @Klagarn - uses rules timing

3. @TheCakeKun - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing

4. @MicroElf - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing

5. @PeruVi3N - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing. Video looks very strange at moment when first and second mission begin.

6. @l_moony - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing

7. @TaRaKaLLI - uses old timing (lol wtf). This run has not game time (actually it is 8:58), so no one noticed that before.

8. @NefariousMD - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

9. @Ptafix - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

10. @Cody360c - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

11. @username1826 - uses good timing.

12. @ORANGUTAN run - uses rules timing.

Hard prologue campaign:

1. @happyg - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing. Results list is not shown.

2. @Brtiki - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

3. @Cody360c - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

4. @username1826 - uses good timing.

Normal human campaign:

1. @generaldaszerteiler - uses STRANGE timing. It starts after closing menu and ends at frame where victory screen should appear.

2. Lune.Fran - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

3. @GreenMixTape - no timer. Uses rules timing.

4. @Kaplankook - uses rules timing.

5. @Creris - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

6. @0l0l0wa - uses rules timing.

7. @eLmaGus - uses rules timing.

8. @username1826 - uses good timing.

9. @CovertMuffin - uses good timing.

10. @Savusukka - uses strange timing. Starts like good timing, ends like old timing. Retimed to rules timing.

11. @Neutrat0r - uses rules timing.

12. @MrMister - no timer. Uses rules timing.

13. @Sajiki - uses strange timing. Starts like good timing, ends like old timing. Retimed to rules timing.

14. @JuriRosenkilde - uses good timing. Retimed to rules timing.

Hard human campaign:

1. @Ptafix - uses old timing, but retimed to rules timing.

All those differences look very strange.

When @ROMaster2 came to wc3, a lot of things was changed. Timing rules included.
Since then many new runs was added and wc3 section became probably more active overall, which is a good thing.
But on the other side leaderboards became way more messy with timing differences and especially with some videos which was manually added by @ROMaster2.

In my mind the perfect leaderboard should be as simply&clear as possible with videoproofs "plug'n'play style". You click play and watch chosen exact campaign/mission with exact specified for this run time. I tried to set up leaderboards that way back into the days I was moderating wc3. Hope to see leaderboards better-ordered some day.

Sorry for the mess. The limitations of this site make having a solid permanent solution difficult. I'm working on a large project at the moment which, by extension, will be able to address this problem later with automatic scanning for re-timing. If you'd like more details, DM me on Discord.

@ROMaster2 Timing is not the only problem on the leaderboards. A lot of runs hasnt game time or it is wrong and game version isn't shown. Also some runs put in wrong categories like gunar groda ones (his WC3 TFT runs are on hard difficulty, but they was put in normal category)
