Rules and Categories

So apon completion of my run of insane there was no category for Insane the differences between insane and wicked are starting energy and boss hp insane has a lot more hp than wicked.

The sec thing is the rules as it sits and i thought about submitting a run of it there's a debug mode cheat code that can be put in called "callacab" what it does is makes you fly and invincible kills anything it touches with the exception of bossed witch you would have to input the code a sec time to get out of the mode to kill the boss but with the rules only saying "Time begins when pressing "Start", and ends when Metalhead is defeated. Wicked difficulty or higher must be selected." someone could submit a run using that or any number of other manual cheats. i look forward to further improve my time on insane and hope to bring in more runners thank you mods for reading this and hope to see some welcoming changes to prevent this

there is also a major flaw in the level leaderboard that has surprisingly been overlooked. the leaderboard is for ingame time but the timer can be manipulated.

@FrankTheOtter That is true, common enemies also have more HP in Insane as well. I've been meaning to add the other two difficulties as categories if people started expressing interest in them. The game has gained some traction recently with a couple currently active runners so I've added them here and to Vectorman 2 as well if you want to give Wicked a shot on that game. As far as cheats, it really goes without saying that cheats are banned in speedruns submitted to this site unless the category is called Cheat% or something, so I don't think it's necessary to explicitly state that.

@Jesse_Lee I'm not sure what you mean that it can be manipulated? If you're talking about extra time powerups, the time gained from those is ignored, as it's simply the number of seconds which tick by that are counted. I also know IGT can't account for lag but that goes for every leaderboard which uses IGT. Understand that IGT is used because it's a real pain for mods to framecount every IL run that's submitted; counting the IGT seconds that pass is far easier, and in my opinion sufficient enough.

Also if you're curious, the reason we separated PAL and NTSC for ILs is because while PAL runs at 5/6 the speed of NTSC, the in-game timer actually runs even slower than that for some reason, so that gave PAL runners an unfair advantage.
