Get my Steam from my Twitch page, then we'll talk.
Hello there, sorry Nasood, i wanted to contact you to talk about your run before accepting/rejecting it, but i was a bit busy with my studies.
All good
I see that you use something that change the "halo" around weapons and stuff. It is not white but colored. How are you doing that ? Are you able to do this with the console on official lobbies ?
Like what Derpduck was saying, you can change the glows of items by using cl_glow_item_r. There's a useful tool called "Left2glow" that assist with someone easily editing the colors. It looks like this:
Then I just use my autoexec and exec a file with its contents in it:
Because skins and mods are not accepted. (for exemple, making the hunters yellow would be too easy)
Custom item glows do not provide any assistance to the game. I am actually color blind, so my glows are there to accommodate my colorblindness.
Yo, game is not dead fam, have faith.
Compared to the Left 4 Dead 2 community, you could say this community is dead to some lesser degree. I was streaming one of my speedruns on the Left 4 Dead 2 Twitch page and ended up getting some people interested in running this game.
I just wish that we would get a new list of moderators who are active. I can see that your run got verified and I'm looking forward to seeing the others get verified too.
Have you tried messaging either mod on Twitch? That's what I had to do back when I did an IL run.
I have not. I did not think that would be necessary because the moderator has been active on the site. I would have done that if either moderator was not active. But I'll private message them both.
The mod you're talking about is probably busy with Insomnia/ESA 2016 stuff, that would be my guess.
Could be. I would not know. I just dont think it would take that much time out of the day to verify a nine minute run.
Page is dead fam.
It's a dead game, but one of the moderators are still active. The other one is MIA.
I dislike publicly announcing this, but one of the moderators for this game has been active throughout this week. You clearly know who you are, as the other one has not been active for a week now. It is not that difficult to take nine minutes of your time to verify a run. Cheers.
Sounds like you're on a good road of running this game fully. Best of luck to you.
I would be down to run this game at this event, but I could never financially afford this. I'm only seventeen and only am a student. Unless someone wants to -nudge- -nudge- get me there.
It is unlikely however that we'll see the same game ran again. GDQ usually do not like the same games being ran until a certain period of time. You would probably have a higher chance of submitting Left 4 Dead instead of Left 4 Dead 2.
I've also been streaming our sessions although the stream looks to be up very inconsistently and I am not sure why, OBS Studio seems to be failing me...
Had some issues using OBS Studio. If you have a decent graphics card, I would suggest using your GPU as the encoder. My stream was freezing often when I was using the x264 encoder. (CPU bottleneck maybe, I dunno.)
Hah, wow, there is some very interesting stuff in that video... the amount of common jumps seems to be pretty crazy. Thanks for the resource, I'll look around the channel.
The skip that I showed you would not be beneficial at all in a real run. It would be so unlikely to do that while actually doing a main campaigns run. However, for an IL run of Dark Carnival, I do not see the issue of doing it.
Wow, I didn't know that the older version could save so much time... I'll have to check some runs on that version and see what is different.
Feel free. If you are wanting the older version of the game, hit me up. I'll be able to help you out with that.
YouTube. Couldn't think of any other places. Unless you have a convincing argument to the moderators to add individual lchapter runs.
Your hypothesis is actually correct. This has happened to me before while playing on the console version of this game, and I was actually curious if it were able to be replicated on the PC. Turns out this still happens when you get a jockey that takes you out of the elevator. In general, The Passing is extremely buggy on this mutation. - Another common glitch is if you're not looking up while taking the elevator, there's a possibility that a special infected will spawn above you as well.
To my understanding, this is only supposed to happen on this mutation. One player would not be effected as the round would end if you had already killed all the bots.
You already said that you're familiar with Left 4 Dead 2, so you should have an easier time grasping speedrunning it. It comes down to mechanics and RNG, at the very basic level. Also, good job on climbing the leaderboards. Just keep on grinding.
First, how much time would you all estimate the older version of the game really saves over the newest?
If you're grinding the main Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns, then there is potential of getting sub one hour with glitches that have been patched. (There are some glitches that still can be done, but in alternative ways. Example is Dark Carnival and the roller coaster)
Which would mean that there is a potential of a seven minute time save, just from the get-go. It would require a god like run but it is possible.
Second, does anybody have tips on getting the molotov/pipe bomb throwable boost?
Use "sv_cheats 1" and keep spamming molotovs and pipebombs until you're consistent with them. Practice is going to make perfect.
Besides that, are there any tricks, even if they are difficult, that aren't showcased in the current co-op WR shown that we should take a look at?
HS Top (A channel on YouTube) showcases some things that are unlikely to be shown in a run. Some of them take intense amounts of RNG. For instance, the video below has not been done yet in a run. (Showcased bile jump starts @ 2:23)
Mawfeen has gotten it once. I'll be trying to do this tomorrow for an one player record on Dark Carnival. It would essentially be a guaranteed world record if you don't get screwed over at the finale by a late helicopter.
Left 4 Dead has single chapter speedruns, if you would be interested in that.
Recently got a download to the version 2.0.0.8 of Left 4 Dead 2. For some odd reason, I'm getting this error:
Can't find background image 'materials/console/background03.vt Can't find background image 'materials/console/background05.vt Can't find background image 'materials/console/background01.vt
Any ideas on why I'm getting this error?
Cheers.
Literally makes no sense if you think about it. It is just hiding the gun model, which is not modifying anything illegal in the console commands. In my run I had viewmodel set to 180 which hides it and then I just toggled it back and forth.
Thanks Darkos. Just send it when you get the time!
