Alright, I've figured out the timing on GameCube. Unfortunately it's a lot tighter than on console, as the horse physics are a little different than on PC; the horse drops straight to the ground if Cole dismount before he reaches the apex of the jump.

The other problem I'm having is that when I successfully get underneath the map, it initiates the "flying" glitch where Cole falls underneath at high velocity then gets wrapped back up to the surface, killing him as soon as he hits the ground. Any thoughts on that?

Any chance there's a video on how to do the horse glitch on console?

I'm currently doing a Let's Play of GUN on GameCube, and for my Extras video, I want to show off the Out of Bounds glitches that are possible to do on the console versions. Currently the only one I know that works on GameCube is the seam at the edge of the ferry dock near Blackfoot Camp, where you have a chance of either flying into the air or clipping out of the map.

Are there any speedrun OOBs that work on console (such as the laundry skip when you rescue Clay) and if so, are there videos of the console-version setup so I can practice them for my LP videos?

At least on PlayStation 2.

It's as simple as mashing X+Triangle in rhythm with your blader (skater?) while holding either left or right. It works while moving forward as well, but is nowhere near as consistent.

Based on my previous TASing experience, I have adapted some of the previous TAS-only tricks into more speedrun-friendly versions.

I can also see an argument for an Individual Level board - one for regular time attack, and another for getting an A+ grade.

I am planning to run this game from a fresh file (with no upgrades, costumes etc.) and was hoping a category could be set up for that, if it was possible.

If prior experience with other games has taught me anything, the in-game leaderboards will be filled with cheaters and hackers posting 0:00 times (unless PS4/Xbone-era security has improved)

Given that there are now time trials for every single level in all three games, are we going to be making a level leaderboard for speedrun.com, or are we deferring to CyberScore et al. like before?

I haven't managed to play it yet (I really want to though) so I can't confirm any of this, but from what I understand from other articles and streams of this game, the physics for all three games will be slightly different than the originals. Apparently Vicarious Visions didn't have access to any of the original code (except for the 3D mesh of the level designs, which doesn't affect physics) so everything from play control to physics to enemy AI was "eyeballed" by obsessively replaying the original games and having playtesters who were familiar with how the originals handled. So it's never going to feel 1:1 but it's about as close as VV could get all things considered.

In the case of Crash 1, I think some of the control physics were deliberately changed to make it more in line with how Crash 2 and 3 played.

Judging purely from the official descriptions, it seems as though Nightmare and Ethan Must Die (both Vol. 1) are endless modes, while Bedroom (Vol. 1) and Daughters (Vol. 2) have definitive end goals, making them speedrunnable.

The two other modes from Vol 2. are rather vague; Jack's 55th Birthday seems to be some sort of successor to Mercenaries, while 21 is...a card game? I think?

"Deceptively simple at first, this gambling game is the only thing that stands between life and limb for two complete strangers. It’s blackjack with a disturbing twist in Lucas’ special version of the classic card game. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and as the game goes on, new wrinkles are added in the form of trump cards that you can play to improve your odds. It seems like the odds are stacked in favor of the house, so you’ll have to figure out how to swing things in your favor."

So it looks like of those, we'd only add IL categories for Bedroom and Daughters, unless Birthday has some sort of time trial.

It's not an issue of competitiveness, Plywood, but of health. I used to be able to do twitch-heavy KBM stuff for hours at a time, but not anymore. A combination of tendinitis and nerve issues means that I'm more or less stuck with a traditional controller for any run that I do, and can't (or at the very least shouldn't) do long runs with KBM.

When I submitted my run, I used IGT.

Copypasting a comment I made on one of trance's videos:

My hands are not in the best shape right now for running games with KBM, but I still want to run this game using a controller. How much time do you think would be lost in PC any% by using a 360/Xbone controller vs. keyboard (even given that controller still has the quick turn button?)

Also thinking up controller strats for Normal difficulty

In all seriousness it would be kind of hard to split the categories up between the endings without giving it away, right? I'll just edit that out real quick.

If it were up to me, I'd go with Ending 1 and Ending 2 for Easy, Normal and Madhouse; and all-collectibles for Normal and Madhouse - then again, I only know story spoilers and haven't beaten the game yet, so aside from the final boss, how much of the game actually changes from the big spoiler choice?

Useful for both any% and 100%, since there's a flashbang right next to the welding tools.

I've started playing around with some early-game routing

As for a definition, I propose:

  • saving Jun
  • collecting one of each weapon (equivalent of Fully Equipped trophy)
  • all Small Keys + their chests (equivalent of The Keys To Success trophy)
  • the lore you can actually pick up (Jedidah's Letter, Written Notes, Generic Reports, floor plan of the hospital in Chapter 8, etc.)

I doubt whether all lockpicking with Stan or hacking with Mei should be included, seeing as most rooms behind those doors don't contain special/unique items.

During the last naval battle of Episode 3 Sequence 1, there are two triggers: one for spawning the second wave of Washington's fleet, the other for triggering the cutscene leading into the setpiece where Ratonhake'ton crashes the Aquila into the Man 'o War. I have played this mission dozens of times, and for the life of me I cannot figure out what causes them to trigger. It's not killing a certain number of ships, because destroying 80% of Washington's fleet is an optional objective, and it's not retreating, because it's an arena fight, and leaving the area causes a desync.

If anyone can give me a hand, I will love you forever :D
