Here is the community discord: https://discord.gg/mfVNQMJ. You can add me on discord too rebi#4998 if you had some questions. Another nice place to learn is on twitch. There is usually someone that knows everything about the game either in one of the chats or streaming.
Loading screens might be RNG, I get different load times on ps4, so I'm not really sure what to do about this. There are also exits on ps4 that don't exist on pc... there appears to be a big imbalance between systems. I have seen other games where this is the case and it seems like it's just a part of life, instead of creating different categories
The rules should be saved for each category now. The best visual cue to stop the timer is when the shark and diver exit the final tunnel. You don't need any inputs as early as when the screen turns red and black after entering the pyramid, but it doesn't seem like an appropriate ending. By final tunnel i mean the one immediately after the heart of the pyramid explodes
I only have ps4 so no way for me to have a timer. So you don't need a timer if you have a video
Yeah, there are Nautilus shrines, or "shell shelf" as I've been calling it, at the end of every level where you can switch back and forth. Usually it is right after you exit the spirit temple and go through the door that opens. In chapter 4, I think the shelf is in the same room instead of being through the door
Hello!
Rules still have not been created for the speedrun, so we may need to edit the runs that have been submitted if we decide to change them... no big deal.
When I did my speedrun, I wasn't sure when to stop the timer, as there are a few places at the end that could qualify. In the final minefield, controller inputs seem optional and have no effect on the time, so the timer could potentially stop when the screen turns red and black... but that doesn't really seem appropriate.
There is also the fade to black when we enter the eye. This is hard to time the stop point, in my opinion.
The more I look at the ending, the place that has the best visual cue to accurately stop the timer is after the pyramid explodes, and the diver and shark fly up the tunnel. The moment they hit the exit of the tunnel seems like a nice place to stop.
What do you think?
It is very exciting to begin routing for a brand new game! Obviously there is Any%, but beyond that I am unsure what categories may be fun and interesting. There may not be any entertaining possibilities for an all shells run. What about a 100% run: all shells, fish pools, meditation spots? What categories do you think it would be interesting?
What should the suits be called?
Everything is brand new so expect change while we learn more as time goes on. Nothing is set in stone at this moment. Please weigh in on the subject if you have an opinion ^^
