It was later discovered that Guy was using a modded Wii, which could make load times inconsistent. I feel like this discovery was about a year and a half ago? I don't remember too much of it, just some discussion on Twitter.

When erasing and starting a new file, sometimes, there is a 10 second black loading screen, and other times it just goes straight to the cutscene. This makes it annoying and unfair to reset everytime we get the loading screen, so I believe that the timer should start when we gain control of Mario, like Breath of the Wild, for example, since it will make the runners be at an even plain field.
