Its not possible because the guard isnt the problem. There is an invisible wall here, the walkmesh isnt active until later in the story. The guard "blocking" the way is just decoration.

I made a savestate for psxfin emulator from which you can route the pc version a while ago. It will load the beginning of midgar and have the stepcount behave similar to the steam version from that point onwards. Creating new saves and loading them is no problem. I've been asked about this quite a few times recently so maybe just put the file in the resources section or something.

The competitive section for FF7 is PSX Disc. Only Playstation 1 or Playstation 2 consoles playing back ff7 from a physical disc are allowed there. Any other way of playing back the console version of ff7 belongs into the side category PSX Digital, that is why it exists. PS3, PSTV, PSClassic, even PC emulators are allowed in it. We put all of that in the same board because the majority of competition takes place in the main disc category so it would just be a waste to make own boards for every single device. In the end, their way of playing ff7 is more or less the same, an ISO is loaded by an emulator. The PSClassic would be the last device on earth to deserve its own category, because it comes with a CPU, insufficient in power to use the open source emulator PCSXRearmed at full speed, even a retropi using said emulator does a better job at it.

TLDR, PSClassic runs can be submitted to PSX Digital board.

Mate why would you do that. You have 280% only on gowd, thats not even gonna make it stronger than hex hammer with destroyer mace and you have to waste time on albert instead of just going full Miranda? And she ends up higher level. Im confused mate.

It can happen in The Legend of Dragoon speedrunning, due to the imperfect playback of the PS2 Slims emulation layers for PS1 games, that FMVs actually randomly go away. I have witnessed the same issue even on some PC Emulators to randomly occur which is one of several emulation specific bugs this game seems to have. Since that is unpredictable and not even necessarily due to bad hardware I suggest that we just add the time of the skipped fmv, should that have happened on a run. That behavior I am used to for example from FF7, a previous Any% Console WR was treated that way. I did thus accept kyos run and edited the time to match as if the opening FMV had played.

@everone for future submissions, if your run skipped a movie, just look at the WR to tell how much time you lost, add that time to your submission and add a small comment why submitted time and displayed time in the Vod dont match.

Greetz mates, have fun.

Mates its not that hard Kappa We show the added up times because its fake if your route isnt planning to beat the whole game. You still get to segment the run in 4 parts which is the sole and only purpose. That you dont have to sit 11h a piece. You can always do a run of only disc2 and resubmit only for disc2 whenever you feel like. You jus enter as the time, that time plus the disc1 time of the savefile which it was loaded from.

Imagine you kill lenus in 1 round because you grinded 5h in disc1. And thus your disc2 time is super fast, that would be pretty silly , right? So you add the time of the first disc.

I wouldnt call it safer. Disc4 is very much reliant on items and that is tighter than ever before. Melbu frahma is a problem. At least a bigger one than in previous routes.

I know how it works but that is not a glitch at all, in fact it is very simple to explain. Off Party members just get half the xp that every active member gets. First game determines what to give all active members by checking how many are alive then cuts that in half for passive. For example, Boss XP is 600XP and 1 person died. First the game calculates XP/livingchars and stores 300XP. Now it gives every active living character 300XP and half that (150XP) to every passive character. The fact that this results in passive member gaining more xp than usually 3 living active ones would when you solo a boss is just something they probably didnt think about so its not designed very smart. But thats not a glitch, it does what it is supposed to do.

White Knight Chronicles II btw treats exp exactly the same way lod does.

Mate the xp distribution is not a glitch. More unclever design but it is totally intended that way. We are just bloody clever baboons exploiting it like that.

Hello and Welcome buddy! If you have any questions on the run feel free to put them here.

You dont really mean though, that you want to actually read the text on a speedrun? That is gonna cost you hours.

The version is the same as the classic console version, just digitalised. When you buy ff7 from the psn store, you get the iso of ff7 which is then loaded by an emulator on your device. The PSX Disc category allows only PS1 and PS2 consoles playing from discs, any other way to play the game belongs into the PSX Digital category. PSVita or PSP might not be listed there, but they are legit for a submission in that bracket.

I have no idea what menu manipulation is supposed to be. Could refer to the fact that you get a few free steps after closing the menu, which allows you to remove fights when you have no charm potion. Like keep menu buffering and running a few steps until the next reset point. It might also simply refer to removing the majoritiy of random encounters by eating a charm potion in the menu.

Just learn the Boss Strats individually, then you learn it automatically. I have some tutorials in my youtube channel, copy them and then you will know.

Yea I saw you running it back then and I agree. Mostly the challenge in the noslots strats is the chance for a fast but maybe riskier strat using tifa. Balancing tifas hp, or getting the maximum turns out of a paralyse phase using accurate atb wait tricking in order to kill the boss fast. Now without tifa , the fast kill is off the table so back to simpler strats. Its more like everyone at full hp spamming molotovs or aqualung making it safer, simpler and slower. It would just stretch noslots fights for not much in returm I feel.

Germanymeesbaker5 years ago

Yes you can do that.

Germanymeesbaker5 years ago

You can submit to PSX Digital Any% NoSlots for as long as the saves you create are made during the run and not beforehand and are virtual memory card saves. (using a savepoint) Savestates using the quicksave function are not okay.

Hi guys, how do you fix the setup of the dodge concept car in the ntsc-u version ? Probably the issue is the same on jp I do not know that for sure. The car doesnt accelerate at all, I saw Sough doing a 41s lap on highspeed ring, where the car behaves all normal. Any advice?

P.S.

The moving pictures in the background of this site make me really dizzy :D

Most likely not, because there is not really a demand for a no tifa category. Feel free to just start Routing and speedrunning it, if it is what you enjoy doing but I recomment do not tie this to whether or not it will receive its own leaderboard since that is most likely not going to happen.
