Super House of Dead Ninjas. When STAR_ uploaded his speed run, I decided to buy the DLC because I was really into SHoDN back in the day. After trying out speed run, I knew that I could improve, so I practiced with blood and sweat. All that skill that I earned by speed running Sacred Ground in Cave Story+(Current WR holder btw) had to transfer over to somewhere after all.
I thought so. I should start planning out what I want to cover and divide which sections I want to make it as separate video. Any other suggestions?
I could do a written guide, or I can do a video guide. I am leaning towards the idea of video guide since it is easier to describe what I want to explain with visuals. What do you guys think?
In addition, should I make an introduction guide that explains game mechanic as well as enemy/boss behaviors?
Normal Mode is the one that lets you have 3 continues right? Hmm. So basically create a new category that is beginner friendly and set the mode into Normal Difficulty for newcomers to try out I suppose? Could use some more ideas and opinions.
Honestly I'm quite conflicted on this part. While SHoDN does provide your time played until your death or finishing the run, it does not provide a detailed time such as splits and such. What are your opinions? If I let in game timer to be allowed for submission, then more people will have a chance to try out the speed run. On the other hand, I like having a detailed information even if it is a small one.
So what will it be? You guys decide.
http://www.speedrun.com/Super_House_of_Dead_Ninjas. Easy to learn, hard to master platformer game. Single tower can be cleared under 5 minutes.
Sad to say I haven't touched this page for a long time. That's because I had other life stuffs as well as many backlogs of games. (I run 3 Team Fortress 2 servers and they sometimes demand quite some time for me. Both moderating/maintaining and entertaining the pub so I can squeeze that extra bit of ad revenue for my server fee.) I really want to expand this game page. Problem is that for now, I'm the only person who plays and runs this game with high knowledge of the game. In the future, I'll make a video guide on basics of speedrunning SHoDN. This will probably much faster than writing a detailed wall of text on explaining. I gotta get a video editing tool tho.
But yeah. I'm going to expand this place. Slowly, but surely.
Hi. While I speed run Super House of Dead Ninjas on stream, I also play plenty of non speed run games on my Twitch. Wonder if this is ok to possibly join this team.
I heard Danny Baranowsky, composer of Super Meat Boy, Binding of Isaac, and Crypt of the NecroDancer, allows streamers and youtubers to use his music.
Thank you Decipher! That means a lot! Do see you around!
Hello! And Welcome to SHoDN! This little gem of a game has a high potential of speed running and everyone can jump in! I hope to see more runners in the future!
Can I throw in a Flash game named Super House of Dead Ninjas? Nobody speed runs this game anymore. Some people did about a year or 2 ago, but I feel like I'm the only person who's still actively speed running this game.
I just wish there are more people who knows about SHoDN. It's depressing how overlooked this game is.
I love speed running Super House of Dead Ninjas, but it came to me as a shock that I did not find any single bits of Super House of Dead Ninjas on this site. Super House of Dead Ninjas is a Flash game developed by Megadev where you have to climb down from an extremely tall tower while killing all sorts of monsters as you go with your melee, ranged, bombs, and magic. I currently hold 2 in game leaderboard world records of Super House of Dead Ninjas as well as 2 world records for Cave Story+(Steam version) as of current high score page of cavestory.org.
I also have recorded runs of both Cave Story+ runs if you guys are interested in watching.
