As many games that are only runnable on emulators, and due to the higher risks of using emulateur instead of console hardwares, we strenghtened the rules allowing to submit a run on Toki (arcade version played mostly on mame):
- use of autofire is strictly forbidden
- need proof of run live: input mapper preferred but any proofs of streaming or run live (cam, live replays...) has to be provided
- speed of emulated game can be easily changed on emulators. Please use default 100% speed game or run could be rejected
Rules could be changed if the game would be available on console hardwares, but there is not yet any rumor of publishing this game on any console. A Toki Reboot is currently in development but we will update the serie with a new game/categorie when needed.
Thank you for your understanding and respect of these rules and enjoy running this fantastic game!
Hello,
i need your advices, i have an headache. I "created" the Bad Dudes speedrun for the arcade version a couple of years ago. I have never been really interested in competing with other guys, so i just created this any% category without any rules (i basically did not even know there should be rules).
A few pople started to submit runs, i was just verifying them quickly without taking care in the runs themselves. I was just happy to see guys submitting runs on that amazing game.
The problem right now is that i am looking back at the quality of their runs, reviewing them with a second eye and i noticed that for 2runs of them, the guys are not beating the game with 1 credit. You could think that it sounds fair but in fact, the runners are just kick jumping all the way to the end of the stage, taking every damage, dying multiple times. This strategy does not make any sense to me and just destroy ALL the interest in running that game, its difficulty, its tough management of the life bar, the items... everything...
So i feel stuck with that. I think i should have strictered the rules to protect the quality of this speedrun leaderboard, but right now it is just desperate to step back. Should I simply add a new rule and reject non conform rules? Or create a 1 credit category?
Hello,
I'm Louis from Paris, I know some french names of the speedrunning community and just started this year to speedrun my favorite games of my childhood; such as Shinobi! And some Hotline Miami 2 :)
Thanks for your site that really helps to motivate to run, record and post on it, this database is a gift!
See you soon ;)
