"6. Someone suggested 66CC66 for Night Mode. Again, suggestions welcome. I hope point 2 should make this matter less, anyway."

PLEASE change link color for this hex, it's so much easier to read, it's still pretty green and actually passes the color accessibility test: https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/?fcolor=66CC66&bcolor=282828

Have waited this redesign long time and I like it mostly. Only major issue imo is the green link color on night mode, it's kinda hard to read. Also, I suggest night mode as default layout for everyone, it's more similar to old one and it supports custom theaming (which was a weird thing to notice, but I understand the issue of color accessibility)

I don't own any of the consoles, so I can't test anything. Everything I mention is based of videos or from Ben.

  • Fade out door transition / area loading (console ports are slower in this)
  • Fade out when dying and restarting from checkpoint (again, slower but only tiny bit)
  • New pause screen
  • Darkness removed from the Emerald Mines
  • Music tweaked for minecart section
  • 17 new achievements for PS4

To be continued...?

Release day: TBA.

I will update the platforms on this leaderboard when the console ports are released.

I'm gonna post this here too.

? Option to disable real time completely from the leaderboards

Quote of the text: "I'm super moderator of Super Skelemania leaderboards. Our community only uses in-game time for the runs and because there's no way to completely disable real time for the submitting the runs etc, I (and other mods) have to manually remove real times every time and inform the runners that it's not necessary to write the real time section.

There's other much bigger games that only uses in-game time (Celeste for example), it has to be real hassle to remove real times every time uninformed runner submits real time too, because they think that you need to fill out everything. :)

Unless I'm missing some setting, I have looked for it many times.

But anyways, I hope this thing would be somewhat higher priority, at least after redesign goes live."

Yes, I know that mods can remove times, that's what I have been doing. I said that in the first post even...

But it's not unreasonable to ask this feature, specially when it removes unnecessary steps for mods.

To be honest, I don't understand what you're saying.

Yes, Skin% does require RTA. Category is dead and archived. I don't want to remove it, because of the "history". (Also, archiving leaderboards would be good feature too, but that's seperate and less important issue).

Yes, I have setup default time to be in-game time.

Yes, I have mentioned in the rules that fill only in-game time.

However, this is NOT good solution. This won't stop people submitting real times too.

Good solution would be time options for categories, like checkboxes that toggle real time and/or in-game timer.

Like seriously, will hundreds of players in Celeste leaderboard remember to not fill the real time section? I don't think so. I don't know for sure if this is really big issue there, but solution is mostly pretty simple and not far fetched.

Yesterday new update was released, that fixes incorrect "milliseconds".

Milliseconds in quotes, because it wasn't actually milliseconds, time was based on "in-game time system (steps) of which there are 60 of in a second" (quote by dev, Ben). Now, I did know that timer wasn't 100% accurate because of LiveSplit, but I didn't know how it was incorrect and I didn't mind it for most part. And IMO, forcing runners to use external timer because in-game timer is slightly incorrect is bit silly and raises the bar for entry if you're beginner speedrunner.

After discussion on Discord, Ben decided to fix it with latest update. It also includes credits skip feature and other miscellaneous things (more at the link on the top).

Every run (even obsoleted runs) that's older then July 18th and has milliseconds in their time, has been corrected. Exception is Skin% category, that timing was based of realtime. Time was recalculated by dividing old "milliseconds" with 30 and multiply by 100.

Make sure you have latest update!

Check that Steam has downloaded and updated the game or that you have latest version from Itch.io / Game Jolt.

EDIT: Also, when submitting the run, please include milliseconds from now on.

It's totally possible: if you just quit the game and reload, timer goes back to time when previous save was made. So people could in theory make segmented run easily by reloading save file if pace isn't good.

This is also why there's "no save reloading" rule in the first place.

I made changes to rules: Any%: no video needed, unless it's top 3 or better. 100%: video is required, because this is only way to verify completion.

(sorry for late response)

Finlandkrisu5 years ago

We got one screenshot only submission and I forgot that I had "Runs require a video" enabled in this leaderboard. So I accepted the time, because it's just placed in 4th place and seems reasonable time.

I hope that in the future, submissions would be mostly videos, because there's possiblity to cheat the timer with save reloading. That's why video proof was enforced before.

Maybe rule for mandatory video proof when time is top 1-3? I need to think about this later today.

Benal didn't confirm his opinion, but I assume he's okay with change since he suggested it anyways.

Since there's no objections, poll will close and changes to 100% category are made.

Old runs will be archived under "Miscellaneous" menu. No runs will be accepted on old 100% and skin% categories.

Because of item dialog skip or aka pickup animation cancel, it's possible to steal the skin item.

Even though it's not real item, just silly easter egg, we had little conversation with benal about whenever or not this should be seperated category (100% + Skin). In conclusion, me and benal are agreeing with the 100% category change.

Changes are getting the skin item (it wasn't needed before, because it couldn't be collected until now) and route change, because unlocking the skin needs specific route for playing the gongs in correct order.

We are really small community, but I want to make sure that majority is okay with this. (I don't want to be dictator.)

My vote is yes.

Poll closes in around one week. If yes vote wins, the old runs will be archived (includes old 100% and skin% runs).

Finlandkrisu6 years ago

It's all about timing. On exact time (or 1-2 frames after) when enemy or projectile hits you, do a backflip.

Finlandkrisu6 years ago

Agreeing with TwoCPlus.

But I can make a map with item order in current route if you want, there's actual full map graphic hidden inside the game files.

Sorry if the guide sucks (unless you mean the video one), I'm not in the mood for updating (read: lazy) and too busy with other stuff. Maybe some day.

To defend myself, I'm happy tho how I writed the original glitch. Original glitch is almost useless now I know that too.

Best way to learn new wall clip tricks is check the PB videos that display inputs (my videos display inputs for example).

I made leaderboards for Super Skeleman's sequal "Skelemania" and started running the game this week too! There's few times outside of Speedrun community, but still needs more times. So check it out: http://www.speedrun.com/Skelemania

Finlandkrisu8 years ago

Maybe I have forgot how some enemies behave, but weirdly when doing wallclip from above armadillo, it starts to roll! https://vid.me/93L2

It's so strange because normally it doesn't do that :D

Finlandkrisu8 years ago

Yeah I know, but

  1. It looks like really hard and annoying trick to do, specially when you have a good run

  2. I have no idea how to do it

so this is my route for now.

EDIT: okay, I changed my mind, maybe I can learn to make that first clip constantly (I did it ones now), but second one seems unlikely.
