New Strat to add to the intro. It tight, but doable; gettin it somewhat consistently. Saves 2-3 stomps and backtracking across the bridge
So, I'll take feedback on this, but I plan on changing (99% no Tokidex) to just 99% ... mostly hundo speedruns are about item collection. Like Metroid Prime games, they dont require 100% scans for 100% category completion, just obtainable items as most other games do. Plus, it's kinda annoying having to explain what "No Tokidex" means to those unfamiliar, and looks tacky in the title/category.
Tokidex is a side quest, Achievement, which I do plan on making separate Achievement categories for some of them that seem like interesting, chilled runs... except maybe "All Achievements" I been routing. :P
An actual item completion 100% would include the golden Wings (plus dropping off tokens on the way to Deposits) in the 100% category since it becomes an obtainable item.
This would allow a separate category for just 99% and 100%; Plus different achievement categories for ILs, or Misc.
Like I said this change makes sense just wanted to give a heads up and if anyone has other opinions on the subject, im listening.
I'm actually routing All Achievements on switch, just waiting for the one section to hopefully get patched by devs. My recent 99% PB is pretty nice, i dont think it can get below 1:50 very doubtful. Now, honestly, the Tokidex% run is worth watching, under ILs. I REALLY like the route I pulled off for it.
I just bought the PC version last night and got all achievements. It it different and has slow down parts, like teleporting by a checkpoint, etc. Also I had to get used to electro bugs to explode before walking past. If you splash and go right to them theyre still electrified lol. One way out of upside-down frog i found was "reset level" and fall down right to the checkpoint then eagle out. Same for tiny frog, just reset level and checkpoint is right at the entrance to that area for quick eagle ... oh ya, and resetting level is slow too lol
And, cool, I'll end up doing Intendend% ( + red crystal first :( ) lol. I'm sad youre retired, and Vulajin is on the metroid Dread grind, been lurking his streams here and there. I'll keep it alive for y'all :D
@waarschijn , not sure if anyone checks here, but was looking at the "Detour" notes you made in the original post here. I like the idea of Intended btw (not so much going to the red crystal first lol ) but doing intended order seems fun. I went to check your Detour% run and it looks like Any%, unless that was a complete different idea? Both being labeled "Detour%" through me off (both the idea and leaderboard run).
got a response from Devs :) ...
Welp, I finally committed and did routing for Tokidex%. No lie this is probably my favorite run of the other 3 categories. It took roughly 6-7 walkthroughs to finally figure which pics i could get while in 'waiting mode', and others i had no choice but to stop movement for pics.
It's basically Any% route , fastest possible, without saving 4/5 frogs. Along with some convenient camera spots found along the way.
Only thing with the video below is I had to wait later for BigBird opportunity. Usually I get it on my first cam shot that nabs 4 pics in one shot (BigBird, nest, hornbug, and Toki). But failed lol. Anyways, prob gonna add it as another category if ok, I know we've discussed it before but noone wanted to route it xD
EDIT: I added an Achievements Leaderboard so maybe we can add more individual levels to it in the future.
I guess I didn't really post updates here along the way. But did sub 2 (99%) with a lot of rerouting and new strat setups. Still several mistakes as the usual. A couple of spots im gonna work on ... if anyone has any suggestion on the Invisible frog section I'll take em. But so far you need at least 3-4 area resets, there, to get everything.
Notable changes was the route itself, minimizing Eagle warp uses and distances. Portals before Upside down Frog is done in one cycle now (used to warp back to Obelisk and re-setup for crab block tokens underneath). The trail West of Big Frog has to screen changes so it turns out to be a perfect level reset. So now Eagle warp if from Big Frog, with a minimal scroll up, to Town Center. Plus nearly 100% reliable setups for the more troubling rng based puzzles.
Anywhoo, just wanted to share some of those details and may dab back into any% along with 99% soon
No lie that's a pretty good find, very nice. I've change the topic title cause I wanted a place to list all these as we find them. Gonna add My Thunder one here as well and others as we find them.
Here's a small text box skip during the Lightning pickup. When you pick up Lighting upgrade, the first one you have to watch, but if you get far enough right and tap "2" a couple times (as you're under the lip of the cavern ) it prevents 2nd text box pop up. Vid below shows first with popup, 2nd part shows the skip.
Don't wanna hijack Sinner's topic, so making a fresh one ...
These are available for download under Resources page.
I did a little touch up on some of the Icons for Splits. I'm no GFX artist by any means. I did get images from Dolphin version for a straight scan, and made backgrounds transparent, all except for HeartOfInfluence Icon. Sizes are 40x40, which split options allow you to Up/Downscale. But ya, just gonna link to the album for those who wanna use them. Some Images ... Recently added: (gears are hard to do lol )
I mentioned this one during my other text box skips. not sure how you pulled it off there, but normally as long as you jump by the 2nd or 3rd water pellet, and dont fall on the last ones you'll skip the text.
Eventually i wanna have a topic for all the ones found once theyre all compiled. I've even skipped the H2O text box after it shows the H2O sign and Drop, I was able to skip the text box and animation showing the furnace; but haven't been able to duplicate it.
and cool, hope those save states worked out.
While doing this Drop again, i just decided to try some gather splashes and spent about an hour or so finding 3 different ways and this is the most consistent to get the upper fish at the start. The area with the lower fish and flower can definitely be cleaned up ( and i derped collecting the drop for some reason xD). But even with my sloppiness saves almost 5 seconds over the first video in this topic i posted above, which wasn't that great either .. prob saves more time overall. And if you miss the splash to upper fish, no harm, just continue as normally, barely any time loss if any since you got to delay a second or so for the goop bug anyways.
Maybe you can use this, its bad but probably worth testing with cause whatever time it saves there's still time to save with better movement. issue with myst on green yellow is you gotta be riding as close to the corner of the floating platform to nail a piece of myst below that will eat alot of water you'll need for the duck water split up. ( my previous video of it i loaded a state AFTER I went through and blew out the bottom geenyellow myst before going to duck zone. ) honestly if anything doing your original way isnt gonna break my heart lol. But here's a set up. i made sure to come in from reloading the room so bats dudes were constant, and hittin the book since thats priority one comin though
Also, i messed around with the Stick quick fall for the platform skip. After many trials and tribulations i found this setup that works roughly 75% or more i'd say. Also just pointint out you can skip the text above by jumping at the 2nd & 3rd bubble going left. I added a handcam to show , i basically full tilt left as im icing up, then full tilt right as a i pass the upper green dot for the gate. The video is a few minutes dont have to watch the whole thing, but once it was gettin consistent i wanted to show the successes and fails. 1 fail was me testing a quick double til.
Also to add, i have found a couple more text box skips, one in particular when you pick up Lighting upgrade, the first one you have to, but if you get far enough right and tap "2" a couple times its prevents 2nd text box poppin up. if i get a vid i'll edit it in here.
oh nice. i see you even upgraded it a bit with the other upper 2 droplets. Nice. Also, i trust your timing but making sure the instant drop grab was timed in, since no waiting for the drop reveal animation but if you check the video i edited in above, i think goin straight up and blowing blue/pink droplet goin up the raining down on yellow/green might be a couple more seconds to save?
i actually have a vid of me doing that as well. what you';d do is blow the blue mist first, then get above the green droplet and blow down, then just rain to get both droplets and proceed to the duck puzzle. and cool, like i said im not sure on the timesave but you see how during trips through you can get some of them along the way. ill load up the raining one to duck real quick and edit it in here for ya.
Edit:: i didnt open up mist to blue on this cause it was just random testing but this is how i'd got for early yellow/green so you go straight up to clear blue then rain geen into the duck zone ...
Also i do plan on doing runs soon. i had a major medical issue hit me out of nowhere back in july and im still dealing with it. no covid, actually worse. but im able to get back down and do more practice and such. i actually did test run, its private on youtube, but died during final influence level, my time was around a 1:58 for first run. im addicted to this route/run and hopefully i can get to actually doing sessions soon. Also out of the blue i did hit up curve digital on twitter about porting to switch; i mean joycon or switch pro gyro would be ideal :) doubt it'll happen but would be a dream
I hope SR dot ban me for multiposting, editing just seems a waste since noone gets updated. Anywhoo, got new setup to show and it may be pointless but it looks so good when pulled off at the end. added commentary as well to explain as i go. but ya 3 different drop levels to set up this one droplet puzzle towards the end game. it may suck and be worthless but wanted to share.
Added a download link for save states to be used with Dolphin Emulator, for practicing sections and such. Not every Drop level is added but I made sure to get all the necessary ones within the route. These are in the 'Resources' section, and it is a hefty download size; some reason these save files are huge. And you are able to add your own by making a new folder and making a save state and copying that state's file into your newly made folder. Also, yes, I made 2 states on Chp1 Orange Gear puzzle for myself cause i had trouble getting the strat down for gettin both the flower and gear and forgot to remove it. I also included in the Google Drive download a specific version of something that is required to use these specific save states. Enjoy!
found this posted recently on youtube and its one of the most asked about so gonna drop their vid here ...
seen this during a streamers casual a couple days ago. was on Switch version. havent tested myself for any consistency but seems stompin to delay any bugs aggro may have mire uses that we thought.

Well, this sux. though I found a 3-4 second time save on this pop-up box skip ....
But turns out, the pop-up STILL activates when you come back for the Hammer Drop, even with the Book warp activated
Here's a nice chunk of timesave on Drop 18 (roughly 10 seconds or so). Path divergence once you grab the first duck, as shown on the Left in the video below ...
Ya, i kept having issues nailing that Orange droplet as Ice consistently, so I started turning back into water after hitting the Switch, since you turn back into water at the bottom anyways I felt it should be concise. And, yes, removing need for Orange droplet 'backup' during STICK pickup does allow you to beat the platform cycle, nice call.
And I can easily test things on Dolphin/Emu ... I've done a play through of the route and made save states through each level so I can load up at any point. I'll check out the Cloud/Suction part. (EDIT:: best I can do is get just enough water for the flower, then it evaporates. Not sure what the door trigger is to get to Suction chamber, cause it never opens for me, must be the amount of water you get in with; which isn't enough, least how i'm doing it. Plus, you need to do a Gather splash with the small amount of water you have to make it over (tilting and hopping takes too long and all water doesnt make it), which kinda cancels out any time save over the wait for the wind to stop after first wind cycle. Unless I'm doing it wrong, this was my best attempt out of about 15-20 attempts thus far :( With my Cloud position against the Wind, I feel this is the best this coulda been pulled off, with little time worked on it, and the amount of water wasnt near enough to get through to Suction.
And I'm still working on the Chapter 4 "Section" with all the REVISITS, so once I get to Drop 54 I'll keep that in mind.
Here's another super small optimization, the over world climb up to Influence Chapter 2, I accidentally used Stick on this tire swing on a different task, but flung myself up perfectly to the Spring on the roof; and figured it's gotta be faster than tilting/hopping 3 roofs or so to get up there. My movement is currently trash but you get the idea :P
