So I just finished my first run of ANB and I think I did really well!! I can't prove it really since I didn't record it (it was more a test run than anything to see what I can improve on), and my time was 2:38:25! It was a NG+, and the top run for Any% NG+ right now is around 2 hours 21 minutes.

I'm just excited about this since I've never actually tried to speedrun a game before! I didn't use any glitches either, I'm actually not sure if there any useful ones, and I did really bad at Convexity (worse than my casual playthrough, even!).

I died five times just trying to get to Cynder in Convexity, and then I died to her when she was on her orange health bar (respawn resets her to her "flying around breathing fire" mode, which cannot be skipped and lasts probably 30 seconds). THEN I took too long getting her down to red and she took off flying again. But I still think I did pretty well, considering!

Not really fishing for compliments or anything, I'm just really excited to think it's possible for me to speedrun this game!

I'm really really new to speed running, and I wanted to know how to set a timer for a console game? I can't use in game time because the game I want to run will require a precise, down to the second time, since only single level runs can use the in game time.

The problem here is that I have no capture card, and was planning on trying to use a video camera or MAYBE my webcam, but it kind of sucks. I just don't know how to set up the timer to be accurate. Do I just have to get someone else to hit the start and end button on the timer for me? I know about WSplit (I think that's what it's called), but have never used it, and I would assume you'd need a capture card to use it properly...?

If the timer is on a separate screen from the video itself (on my computer screen, while the video is on my camera), how do I handle that? Or can I just not use a video camera at all? I'm not super tech savvy, sorry.

I can wait to get a better webcam to try to speedrun the game, I just don't know how to handle setting up the timer to start when I start the game, unless WSplit can be used with a crappy webcam video, which I sort of doubt.

Again, sorry, I feel like this may be a silly question...

EDIT for better readability
