If we were to do runs on the upcoming PS classic would that be counted under normal PS or are you guys going to be adding it as a new console? not gonna lie it would be the only reason i buy myself a PS classic as i already own most of the games i want to play on there lol

The French version of the game runs the fastest due to fewer text boxes however it is slightly riskier as the item 'Hero' can miss depending on your SPR stat I believe.

So I love this game and ive been wanting to add it to my list of speedgames for a while now however I'm not sure how to go about routing the game.

I wanted to start on NG+ Extreme because I think it would be easier to route with every card at my disposal (when I finish grinding anyways)

Shall we (mods and anyone else who is interested) get together and come up with something?

I had the pal version as a kid too (still have it actually) but never once had a problem :/

Update: It happened again, seems my rom is glitched and doesn't think that RTS Squalo exists lol

I know that MMM Squalo is fine so I'm going to try and see if PRC is unaffected too, if its ok then i'll get my sub 30 goal with them. If not then I guess I'll have to save up for a 90k ps2 and fast :/

Have any of you encountered a glitch before where you should receive a certain car but get a different one? for example you get perfect 1st place finishes in the first 7 races with RTS and Assoulto so you should get Squalo right?

Well I was running R4 today and this happened to me. finally got the perfect run up to Shooting Hoops and instead of getting Squalo I got Estasi. and in the confusion performed badly on the final race and lost the run (potentially a 30:XX, admittedly using AT not MT but still)

To clarify I've been playing on an emulated NTSC version through epsxe 2.0 so I don't know if its my rom/emulator not working right or if this is a potential glitch in the game (this never happened to me in all the years I played my PAL physical copy on any of the consoles I've owned over those years.

Has anyone else encountered this? If so is it a one off glitch or am I never going to get a perfect run without forking out for an 90K PS2 and an NTSC physical copy of R4?

Hey all, I remember reading a thread here a little while back about which emulator we can/cant use for runs of this game. Is there still a specific emulator you guys want me to use or am I ok to go right ahead?

I live in the UK so getting hold of the fabled 90K ps2 and an NTSC copy of R4 isn't an option for me and I sure as hell am not running PAL lol

p.s I am looking to challenge WR eventually but I just want to submit my de-rust run so I can add a run to the leaderboard and maybe wake up some of the runners

Hi all, not sure if this is in the right place but I'll ask anyway. I want to get into speedrunning this game (Any% NCD Manipless) and have downloaded and set up ePSXe (1.8 like the leaderboards ask for) but I cant seem to get my splits to work along side the emulator. Basicaly whenever I click on my splits ( I use LiveSplit) is stops any input from my controller reaching the emulator until I click on the window for the emulator again.

Theres probably an easy solution to this that I just cant find but it is getting pretty annoying tbh.

Personally (although I haven't been able to run yet as my PC is terrible and cant stream) I agree with the idea of putting in an option on the leaderboards to say if you used the new RNG manip or not. The way that makes sense to me is that it would be deemed as an alternative route which would give every runner on the board already the chance to either move to the new route or tick to the old one and see if they can get the god run OR they can switch to the new route and go as fast as possible.

I guess it might not be the best example but its one that makes sense to what I am trying to say so I'll use it. The first game I got properly into speedrunning is FF8 (now I also don't have a full run down here because of the crappy PC I mentioned earlier) and on their leaderboards they have the option on there to say which route you are taking (depending on certain 'cards' they get from the mini-game during the run) so you get to see which run is actually faster or if it is down to the runner themselves.

And for those of you I can hear complaining about the times lower down on the leaderboard I know what you are going to say but its fine because if the people on the lower end of the board want to improve their time and catch up then I say go for it and wish them the best of luck, to those who are happy with their old time and merely wanted a time on a leaderboard then that's cool too. As for new runner it gives them the choice of if they want to learn an easier run and take a more casual approach or learn all of the new strats/manip/'route' and compete for WR.

I know I have gone on for a while but I love watching runs of this game and when I get a decent PC I want to join you, but from what I can see here I might not have a chance to... this community was already almost torn up once before and I don't want there to be no community to come back to when I'm ready to go.

Hi all, when is the next race? i've been trying to nail an any% run for ages now and I need some more incentive to get off my backside and actually set aide the time to run lol
