The autosplitter is now at https://github.com/neesi/autosplitters/tree/main/LOVE and the file name has slightly changed:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/neesi/autosplitters/main/LOVE/LOVE.asl

However, majoneesi is usually very meticulous in these things and has already updated the URL in the Livesplit autosplitter XML. All you need to do to use it, is set the game name in LiveSplit to LOVE and then activate the available autosplitter. No need to manually download a file and add it to your layout. Also way more comfortable!

Hello! That was my mistake, I went to consolidate the ruleset among categories and accidentally yeeted the LOVE 3 category while doing so. Reinstating it didn't bring the runs back. I messaged support and they were swift in bringing everything back. Now all should work again. Apologies for the inconvenience!

When the skip was quite new, I recorded my controller inputs performing it. This can certainly be optimized but you might get an idea through it, combine it with the guide from par and hopefully find a rhythm and movement that works for you!

First 4 seconds missing from this run due to Switch's recap feature limitations. Complete IL videos are preferred, if possible.

Hi folks,

this is Zet from the LOVE 2: kuso moderator team. :)

I recently did some updating on kuso's autosplitter in the autosplitter.xml file, by linking it to majoneesi's (working) splitter and noticed that there exists an entry for LOVE as well. However, that one is currently broken and doesn't work.

May I suggest you replace the currently linked autosplitter with the LOVE splitter by majoneesi? I tested it and it works perfectly for real time and game time. Since I'm not a mod for this game, I don't want to replace it myself in the xml, but if you want to do so, the link to his splitter is this:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/neesi/autosplitters/master/LOVE/LOVE_livesplit.asl

Cheers!

Hello, not intending to hijack your Discord, but wouldn't it be better to keep things within the #speedruns channel of the official kuso Discord? We have the developer there as well.

Hello all! After running this game for a while and having a lot of fun with it, I was thinking about the src leaderboards. Although only few people run this game (what I can't really understand tbh :( ) I wonder if the lb shouldn't be made a bit more systematic. I suggest the following:

Put three main categories on top:

  • kuso
  • LOVE
  • LOVE+kuso

Give all three categories two sub categories:

  • Any%
  • 100%

This will reflect game mode names directly from the game and leaderboard descriptions from the Steam leaderboards which will feel a lot more consistent with the game.

The other categories from the Demo can either stay next to them or get into the MISC section, I don't know if there is much interest in running those. Also, I think an IL board could be fun. We might have one on Steam with unbreakable WRs but having one here will allow Switch players to compete as well and users would be able to watch the recording of that level.

Furthermore, retime runs if necessary. I don't know if everybody is aware, but majoneesi has mentioned this in their WR description: The ingame timer is actually incorrect and will always display the final frame digit as the final decimal, which is not correct. Fortunately, as we have the exact frame count on the stats screen, we can easily derive the correct ingame time from there. I have informed Fred Wood about this on Twitter and he stated that he "should fix that", so hopefully ingame time will soon be correct, although with only one digit after the comma, it is maybe still better to re-calculate ingame time from frames.

I know such a task isn't done in a few clicks and many runs would have to get migrated and re-timed, but I think the lb would get a lot leaner and more logical. Some time ago I went through retiming the whole 140 lb myself, so I know what kind of a task this is. :D If mods want, I would help out with this! :)

If you don't mind, I would prefer it, but it's a bit of an OCD. :)

ALSO The autosplitter is available now! Simply go to Edit Splits... and activate it there. Voilà!

(Also if the category could be called "LOVE+kuso any%" as it is referred to in the Steam leaderboards.)

I just did the pull request. Need to wait for verification and merge, then it should be available directly through livesplit! :) If we ever switch the game's name to the correct spelling of "kuso" I might have to adjust that, but until then we good as soon as it's verified. I also did a little tweak - well Gelly did, as usual - and removed a block which was no longer necessary. File is still the same in my dropbox link.

When you can confirm that it works, I'll upload it to my GitHub instead and make it so LiveSplit automatically recognizes the file when the game is set to kuso. :)

Okay, with the help of Gelly we just went on and created an actually working autosplitter for the game! :) Here's what it does:

  • Sync IGT with the game's framecounter
  • Starts upon starting any game mode (tested with speedrun kuso, LOVE and LOVE+kuso but should theoretically work on any mode)
  • Restart upon resetting the game
  • Reset upon exiting to main menu
  • Splitting during a level progression
  • Ending when the run is beaten and stats are shown (tested in speedrun mode only but should theoretically work on all game modes)

Here's a link to the ASL file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kqlujh05euvhfje/kuso.asl?dl=0

I'll see if I can make it the official autosplitter for this game, so you can activate it via the livesplit menu as soon as "kuso" is selected as the game. Have fun running the game! :D

Hey again, sorry for the requests: Could the category actually be called "LOVE+kuso" or "LOVE+kuso any%"? That is how it is referred to in the game and how the Steam leaderboards are set up, also you play through these levels. :)

Furthermore, shouldn't "kuso" be spelled with a lowercase "k" in the game's name? Thanks! <3

Edit: Here's the steam leaderboards. I think it would make sense to copy over the category names at least for those categories. https://steamcommunity.com/stats/578930/leaderboards/2243659 https://steamcommunity.com/stats/578930/leaderboards/2234832 https://steamcommunity.com/stats/578930/leaderboards/3107265 https://steamcommunity.com/stats/578930/leaderboards/3107267 https://steamcommunity.com/stats/578930/leaderboards/3107268 https://steamcommunity.com/stats/578930/leaderboards/3107269

Hello! As you can see from my submission I did the run on Switch. Maybe there's future runners who want to do so!

Although my future runs might very well be on PC.

Awesome! I'll jump in on the LOVE+kuso category myself in the near future. :)

The position of the "evil" triangle are random, except they will never spawn, after phase activation, so that you don't have to do any input to hit them. Other than that your pattern will always be a 90° followed by a 180° turn followed by a 90° turn again etc.

So, I hat to say it, but 2nd phase for 3rd boss, all you can do is git gut. ;) If you're playing with a controller, it can help for you to turn your controller 90° for the 90° shots.

There's a pattern for the third phase, however, in case you don't know:

Assuming you're arriving without a single missed shot at phase 3, in order to activate the phase, the triangle has to point down, perform a 180° rotation and hit the square on top. This is when the phase initiated. Now remember the following pattern:

At - At - Away - At - At - At - Away

What I mean by this is: The rotations of both your little triangle friend and the rotations of the evil triangles will always be the same. The spawns of the triangle will be different, yes, but the relation between your triangle position and the evil triangle position will always be the same. What this means is, you can tell where to put your little triangle towards BEFORE the rotations have even started. And that is exactly what all the runners do: The first triangles appear, immediately phase your little triangle towards the evil one (at). Second triangles, point it at again. Third, now point it away from it. Next one is at, next is at, next is at again and the last one is away. It sounds a bit confusing when writing this, however it is 100% consistent and a lot easier to memorize than trying to "feel" the rotations beforehand. Plus, you'll be very nervous when reaching the third boss, better rely on something rock solid.

Hope to have helped you out. If you have any more questions, feel free to join our Discord server!
