My only problem with calling it Patched / Unpatched is that literally because of the name, Unpatched means just the first version that never got any patches (v1.0). Ok so far so good, but Patched? Does that mean I could use the first patch it ever got? Like the version PC came out with? That's a version that got a "patch". What's stopping me from, say, doing a Tails run and save a little more time compared to the current version using the PG2 boss skip that got removed afterward? (It should be slower because it doesn't have the SO2 glitch but that's not the point right now).

At that point I'd much prefer calling it v1.0 / v1.03. But then there's the problem of non runners being confused as to what it means. Specially since the game tends to be pretty secretive of the version number.

So I guess the best thing to do is keep Patched / Unpatched as just a name and clarify in the rules "Version 1.03 / 1.0 must be used" or something like that.

Both theses videos are pretty good to understand how spindashing works. The first video focuses more on the Genesis games but it can be translated into Mania well. The second one clarifies the differences between Genesis and Mania as well

I'll prefer making changes by myself to try to avoid any lack of communication with other mods. Already added All Boss Tokens since I noticed you were doing runs of it. If there's any suggestion for a change or anything, go ahead. I'll try to do something whenever I can.

I'll try to record a run of this with the correct strats in a while. Keyword "try". In case I don't, here's a couple of them missing. Mess around with it if you can. -There's a hole close to the ramps at the start of Viking hub where you can fall OoB. It's only on PC. From there you can wrap to the token and skip the statues. -To enter Aztec, you can just throw Bugs on the side of the locked door so he bounces off Taz and clips on the ceiling to then touch the loading zone. -You can skip the Baboon Realm boss by throwing Bugs in front of one of the doors (lol) -Same for entering the Arabian era. Throw Bugs at it's door. -In water temple you can throw Bugs under the fountain, go OoB and skip opening the door. -Ground Temple, you can throw Bugs under the crystal to also go OoB. -The Gardens have a lot of PC only holes on most of the bushes to go OoB. -You can clip on the cage for the tower token the same way you clip the door to the castle in any%. You could also turn Taz into a monster, get Bugs to bounce off him to get over the Castle door and fall OoB since there's no trigger. Then you just wrap until you get to the token. I'll open All Boss Tokens as a new category so you can submit if you want.

The OoB on Baboon Realm was found a while ago. Doesn't really have much of a use except getting to the waterfall area with the two statues a little bit sooner. Don't really know if it's faster or not.

Bubblegum glitch on Zoovania was apparently patched on PC and it only works on PAL PS1 afaik. The castle one can be gotten pretty consistently with enough practice but it's understandable if you can't get it. I know most of the runners had trouble with it, mostly on PC.

Moving two characters at once is PS1 exclusive too. You can control the second character with the right analog stick and make him jump by pressing R3. But the carrying ability should work just fine, yeah.

Speaking of which, the carrying Bugs ability can do a bunch of things. If you have it, you can just use that to replace the bubblegum glitch on the final level if you throw Bugs under one of the open doors against the wall. That happens because when Bugs gets squashed and right after that bounces on Taz's head, the game thinks he's still squashed and can go through ceilings thanks to the small hitbox.

It's used a lot through the run on places with a low ceiling. Mostly on the genie puzzles and Sam's Temple. Also, it extends your hitbox immensely when Taz throws Bugs so it can touch the loading zones of some of the thin closed doors. You can skip the Baboon Realm boss with that. Also works for the Viking and Arabian era doors. It's pretty damn broken, lol. Which is why you want to have it as soon as possible and start from the Viking era.

Made a video of it. Sorry for not documenting strats on video before, didn't really have any means to record until now. If there's any other strat you need recorded or explained, just tell me.

Another category will be created for this game besides Any% and 100%, that's for sure. The brokenness that this game has now opens many ways to play and complete the game. However, no new category will be added to the site until there's at least 1 run done on that category. The reason for this is that I don't want a category to be there and have no runs to show what is it about.

On what the category itself should be, I'll leave that to the runners themselves, myself included. If you want to run something like "No OoBs" and the other runners agree to compete for that category then it can be added. But this doesn't mean any "category" can be added. Arbitrary categories made just to get a free WR that nobody will care about are a absolute no.

On another note, I been recently thinking about "All Boss Tokens" to be the other category.Simple, just collect all 12 Boss Tokens, 3 on each era, and then beat the game. Picture it like Ocarina of Time's Medallions, Stones, Trials category. I done some routing already and I gotta say it's really fun to do since there's tons of other glitches and strats for the rest of the eras. Like going OoB to get the Statue's and Monster's Tokens on the Viking and Transylvanian eras respectively or Bugs' Super speed glitch on Viking era. Plus, thanks to the newest OoB, you can go to any era on any order you want. This also lets you get to Viking era first, collect the throwing Bugs ability and break parts of the game you wouldn't be able to break if you did the levels on order. The possibilities are endless with this.

But anyways, we'll first have to do runs in order to be added. If you have any other ideas on anything, then don't be afraid to share them :)

For various reasons:

  1. The main reason would be that none of the current runners of this game (If there's any to begin with) actively run that category neither do they want to.

  2. The category itself is already pretty arbitrary. The run consists of playing through a certain amount of levels unlike the usual begin from a new file and finish on last input/credits. Here we're just choosing to play a small portion of the game and leave the other part outside. I do understand if people run it because they like it instead of doing it just because. That's the case with Unleashed PS3/360 where the category goes under Misc. categories. This wouldn't be a problem if people actually ran it on Unleashed Wii but no, there isn't any runners for it.

  3. Free world records. If it actually was a category, would people take it seriously? I wouldn't, that's for sure and I'm pretty sure the other runners think the same. We don't want any dumb guy coming and submitting a sorry excuse of a speedrun, without learning any strats nor putting any effort into it and then brag about having a WR in a category nobody cares about and think they have something special.

  4. If there's a "All Day Stages" category, logically there should be a "All Night Stages" category too, right? But doing that we have double the useless categories with no people running it.

  5. There's no need for a category to be on the site so you can run it. If you want to run your arbitrary category by yourself because you like it, then cool, nobody can stop you from doing so. But that doesn't mean it should be a real category on the site.

With these things right here, All Day Stages ain't becoming a category on this game any time soon and I doubt it will ever be.
