Requesting Moderator for Pink Hour. I've had a pending run for 9 days which I know is not the common practice, but given the average run is 1 minute and 30 seconds; rather than 30 minutes or an hour or two, and one of the mods haven't been active in over two years, another hasn't been active for 17 days, and the most active mod couldn't find time to verify a <2 minute run in the days he's been online, I think this game has been abandoned.

I'm only posting here right now because of how short the runs are, if they were longer I'd have waited the 21 days, which I'm assuming is standard even for runs that last 5-6 hours. For a 1 minute and 32 second clip I think it's reasonable. I have tried to contact the active mod both on discord and there is no user found, and on twitch my whisper wasn't responded to. I don't have a twitter account or a facebook account to try him there.

If this request is premature despite how short the runs are, then let me know and I'll delete this post and wait the full 21

How is it possible to get Teddiursa before the second gym? He appears on route 45 which is unreachable before the second gym. Am I missing something? Teddi is one of my favourite dudes and I'd love to do that run, but I'm not sure how to get him that early; also the custom starter mega in the resources doesn't include him as a custom starter. Do I just gameshark him into the pokeball and then soft reset? I'm confused about this.

Looks like the majority of Mario Kart Super Circuit are approved without video evidence.

"Timing begins at the conclusion of naming your last character, and ends on the last textbox before boarding the Lemurian Ship (Mia: Jenna is waiting for us)

You must end the game with all 28 Elemental Djinn in your party

Runs without intro start from a savefile after you leave Vale with 'speedrun' stats (no exp, no additional coins, default inventory). 39 minutes are added to this time, as that is slightly longer than a good run takes to leave Vale.

As of June 2017 emulator is no longer allowed for World Record submissions only.

Emulator runs that lack a Gameboy splash screen on Hard Resets will be adjusted with 6 seconds per Hard Reset."

Which rule would be ignored if the game has the splash screen? Are you saying that if my emu displays the splash screen I'd be able to submit a record breaking time? I'm not understanding what you're talking about.

"as of June 2+ years ago" when emulators for GBA were inferior and the software sucked... but this isn't the case today. As vlackSR said, the Bizhawk emu is incredibly accurate. Lets say I have a recording on my computer that's 3:18 for any%, would this be rejected or what?

N-n-n-n-eeecrooo! VBA, VBA-M or mGBA are all 99.9% accurate to the point where any difference in play (in 2019) is so marginal that a person playing on console could lose only because of poor playing.

thread: Golden Sun

VBA plays at a 59.73hz refresh rate and is not faster than the gameboy in it's current build. I think this rule should be re-evaluated given that the emulator technology has gotten much better. It is impossible to tell emu vs console gameplay anymore.

GBA emus back 2-3-ish years ago were, indeed, shitty and inaccurate but this isn't the case anymore. VBA, VBA-M, and mGBA are 3 examples of emulators which have progressed in the last few years into very accurate alternatives to the physical console.

So I'm requesting that this be looked into and for the rule against emulator runs to be reconsidered.

Is the game timed by real time or is the game timed by the final times in the cup cutscene? I don't want to submit the wrong time or submit a run improperly.

Thanks in advance.

Thought of this this other day; Any guitar hero, rock-band, or rhythm/dance game, or any game that has aspects of these. Winx Club: Quest for the Codax for the GBA isn't really built for speedrunning since there are unskippable dance/rhythm parts that just slow the game down. I know because I've been looking frantically for a new game to run and I've tried several dozen over the last week or so, this one included. The dance/rhythm scenes take 3-5 minutes to complete and can't be skipped. Deleted it instantly.

As stated before, most bullet-hells/shmups, most VNs. But I'd say any game that's super linear isn't really suited to speedrunning. Then again... those sorts of games are played (like Goldeneye is super duper linear) and people try to find the optimal line and the optimal way of moving through a level as fast as possible. Really, I guess... mostly just games that have a lot of event triggers that require certain things to activate and bar progress through the game until those conditions are met.

Literally any game where you have to grind as fast as possible just to get through a segment. Bullshit. I hate it. It doesn't feel like speedrunning if I have to mash through 30 fights as quick as possible just to progress. Iz bullsheet.

Hey. I'm looking for a few good RPG maker games to run. I've grabbed a few on sale to test out and the ones I've grabbed are either bugged (Black Home) or require about 45 minutes of grinding to beat the first boss then sailing through the rest of the game (Witch of Ice Kingdom II)

They're not really suitable for running (I mean... yeah technically... sure... but the arbitrary, non-circumvent-able blocks like grinding to level 10 to get past the first boss then doing literally nothing for the rest of the game don't make for enjoyable experiences)

I'm looking for a relatively balanced game that can be run. If anyone knows of any good RPG makers that fit that description, please let me know. Thanks

Hey there, yeah. You banned me from your discord server just now for a meme. I take back the nice things I said here.

Nice to meet you. If you're interested in learning how to speedrun, I'd suggest starting with pretty much anything from the gameboy or gameboy advanced library. Most of the games are pretty simple and don't require too many manipulations and they're good for learning the basics like finding the optimal line/movement path/etc.

Anyway, welcome to the boards and community. Hope you have fun here.

Hiya, welcome to the community. I see you're interested in GTA5. Do you stream it?

I've been comparing footage from the WR side by side with my own runs and it seems like the steam version of the game runs very slow in comparison. I've almost mirrored the movement route used by the WR holder and still by the indiana jones screen he's already a screen ahead of me.

What version of the game should I be playing and can I get a link to that version please?

I'd suggest most - if not all - retro games. Most of them can be beaten in <30 minutes, some can be beaten in under 10. You could try your hand at running Super Mario Bros, even if you can't pull off any of the tricks for a while, you can still probably finish a run in about 12 minutes and then gradually learn the tricks and improve and improve and improve.

Yeah bro, I'd assume that as well; I'd just like to have one of the mods give me a definitive answer.
