Would it be ok to have combat animations speed up in a run?

I will make a double post, while I know it is not good for a forum.

The In-Game Days are running functionally now.

I looked at Salat's post and the solution to post days next to the hour in the In-game timer.

What happened when I attempted to submit my run there, is that the site wouldn't allow it. I got the message: This time is too high. Using the idea of putting the days at the ms (milliseconds) instead of hour, it allows for that. It would be recommended to do that instead. Thanks to @adamdotpng that came up with it. :)

Hey, I shoot in with a suggestion. When I installed HotA, I noticed in the HoMM3 folder there was a HotA file that made you play it without the HD+ Mod. It opens up the game in 4:3, like when opening HoMM3: Complete from the GOG GALAXY app.

So would it be ok to start a No HD+ category on https://www.speedrun.com/hommiii_hota ?

While it already have been created one, I wanted to ask about peoples opinion about this?

Yeah, we don't have a category on that at the moment.

My opinion is that there should be a category of it's own, like HD+, No HD+.

Because HD Edition is Restoration of Erathia, it stands out.

I bought my copy of the game on Good Old Games.com, there you get all 3 expansions. While I have the choice between all RoE, AB and SoD campaigns, the Shadow of Death is overruling the previous ones. It means that the maps we play online and in Single Scenario have the later changes that HD Edition 2015 on Steam doesn't have.

It would be cool to see what sort of runs you can get on the HD Edition 2015.

The current HotA version is. 1.6.1, and the next major patch with the Factory (IIRC) Faction. In future, will it be a good idea to provide what version of HotA version one's using.

What are people's thoughts on this?

I'd like to request a No HD+ category for HotA, please. It is possible to open HotA without the HD+ Mod, and I have recorded runs for Pirates and Palms.

The first thing we see is an empty list. Unless it is changed, will new people click trough the page?

Since no HoMM3-runners have done the RoE expansion in one sitting (except for the Cheater%), wouldn't it be cool to change it?

I vote on Long Live the Queen, Any%, HD+, since it has the most contributions?

What do you guys think? Should it be the same, or could it need a little change here and there?

I think the thought of having a In-Game Days Category would be nice, that was the original idea of @woko_kijci.

By the permission of the moderators, I would like to ask to please open up the Run Category once more. I have some runs ready to go to submit to Speedrun.com.

If this would be possible, except me to subit them within a week or two. So there will be on inactivity on that category of H3. :)

I was just wondering if anyone who have had any experience of any bugs, errors or soft locks with Heroes of Might and Magic 3? Are there any version or expansion pack that have anything on them that makes for a problem to play it on any modern day computer? We now have the HD+ Mod that makes Heroes 3 much more manageable than before, that is my opinion on it though.

Now let's assume that you play on a Windows 10 operative system with the GoG (SoD) version of HoMM3 installed, plus the HD+ Mod in 2020. I have set the System Options within the game for the her to Fastest, as well as in the Combat Settings. Are there anything else that can make the game go "less slow" when speedrunning, or a HotA pvp for that matter? Where are the discussions around this? Does there have to be one?

A thing I did to test the "transitions between windows" in the campaign (the time it takes after a right click on the mouse to take you to the next thing) where I turned off the Subtitles for the Heroes 3 campaign. I checked with subtitles on again. The result: I saw no difference in lag. It would be nice just to play around with the settings, to potentially discover time savers (if there are some the H3 community aren't aware about yet?

I was also wondering if all SoD's are considered "the same version", in Europe as it does in The States? On Speedrun.com, when submitting a run to the site, you get the options to chose what version that you are playing on? Since CD-Rom are a thing that is hard to come by anymore, at least where I live in Norway, is the digital version of H3 the same version most people have? Which version of Heroes 3 do you use, CD-Rom or Digital?

@MiklMaar Thanks for the reply! The time period when AGDQ were accepting submissions was from Sep 24th through Oct 4th. I was visiting their page approximately some weeks before submissions were open, so I started studying Heroes 3 speedrunning videos on YouTube to prepare 6 ready runs of my own for the 2021 Event in January. Because I believe it would be a nice learning for everyone, please take a look at what I could have done better in the way of formulating my "Run Description" on AGDQ Online Submissions.

Way to see it (please read the list chronologically): -Go to the link in the last bullet point. -When you have clicked the link, under "Legend", click the red button to the very left of total of 4 buttons. -Now, change the default to show "50 Entries" to "Show All" (your system might have to load, there are 1,643 etries in this list). -Then (On Windows 10, Command+F on a Mac), press on keyboard "CTRL + F" (Find on Page), then type "heroes of might and magic 3". -After you have done this, while having the Find on Page bar active, press the Enter key. -Finally, link to page: https://gamesdonequick.com/submission/all

I sent AGDQ Committee an email with question about if the runner are responsible for organizing having commentators in the couch that talk while the runner plays, and had my submissions been accepted, I would have to ask people within the Heroes 3 community to join me. :)

To reply to your question, @MiklMaar, I have checked ESA out and it seems that game submissions will be open on December 6th. I cannot give you an answer if I will be able to apply for it because of the exam period that I am in now. Though I am grateful for the share. Seems cool.

I have read the posts in this thread, and I am personally very pleased to see the amount of rising interest of speedrunning this game. As of a few months ago, I worked on getting Heroes 3 to be accepted as a game to be ran at an event called AGDQ (Awesome Games Done Quick), because I thought it had potential.

It is nice to hear Saiyanz input to this, relating it to other games like Goldeneye (eg: Dam Agent). Not a juxtaposition I knew of.

It turned out to an interesting discussion with user's opinions about weather the community is ready for speedrunning the game. Not that Super Mario 64 is a game in any way similar, though I used it as an example as a game that is popular speedrunning.

To stay more on topic on the thread itself here, I support the idea of having In-Game Days leaderboards as a Category Extension. It seems like a logical way of measuring skill in Heroes 3.

Hello Heroes of Might and Magic III Forums!

I was just wondering if it would be a possibility for Heroes of Might and Magic III Leaderboard on Speedrun.com to have a game cover picture of the expansion sets Armageddon's Blade (AB) & The Shadow of Death (SoD), as they are increasingly getting runs submitted to both the Full-game Leaderboard, as well as the Level Leaderboard? It would be of course an esthetic change, but I think it would make sense for any new visitor to see the 2 different expansions + the original Heroes of Might and Magic III: Restoration of Erathia (RoE), and be able to click between them to see their respective runs.
