Potentially more interesting than 100% too, since I think with high quality movement, 100% can be brought down to any% +5seconds, with only very minor route changes, but this genocide% would have to be any%+30seconds at least I suspect

I was getting frustrated whilst practicing 100% and decided to do a run where I kill every single enemy instead of avoiding them.

Halfway through I realised it's actually a really fun way to play the game, and introduces the same interesting routing strategies as you get in the 100%.

Thoughts on adding it as a category? I'm thinking calling it genocide%, rules would be: any% rules plus must kill every enemy except subway-1 rats, (including all boss eyes that spawn).

I also had a thought today that it could be interesting to see 100% version of each level too (so caves-4 any% and caves-4 no-kills + any other levels)

I don't have a mechanical keyboard! The recording I posted here was taken on a mac with the magic keyboard. I can get it once every few tries.

The laptop I have at home I think I've also gotten the trick before with it, but I haven't had the spare time to get a feel for my consistency with it. For my home laptop (which I intend to use for all my runs because I hate mac), I have an external keyboard which is like a gaming keyboard, but it's not mechanical, I also haven't tested consistency with this

This was my second successful box skip + triple bullet block, and both times I got the exact same time somehow, which I found amusing.

Edit: I guess if subway 3 gets added as an IL category, this will be my first submission lmao

Hi y'all hope if any of you have notifications on you aren't annoyed by me yet.

So in subway 3 about half way through, if you get there fast, there'll be a gun dude guarding a box. And you're thus forced to wait for him to hit the box and turn around, sitting there for up to a second or two. (as you'll see in the WR run, but not my run bc I sucked and died in this level).

But I've figured out that it's possible to not get stuck here, and save between 1/2 to 1 second.

  1. Do a jump towards the box as low as possible, whilst still retaining the ability to turn around and get back to the platform (I think bonking against the wall makes the turn around faster for this but I'm not certain yet).
  2. wait until you start to fall, as close to the bottom of the box as possible. you should be moving back to the platform already at this point, so that your back is to the box.
  3. swing, just barely in time for the back top of the pipe hitbox to clip the box.

If done correctly you should destroy the box, and be low enough that either the gunman doesn't shoot, or he misses you.

I managed to do a run of the room and get a time .65 lower than my previous best.

I'll update if I figure out any consistency strats for it, because right now it's just muscle memory learning for me.

My instincts tell me to apologise for reviving an old forum post, but since I'm attempting to perform necromancy on this whole community anyway I figure why not.

My two cents is the the only really consequential levels in the run are caves 4, subway 2&3, and maybe to a lesser extent sewers 2&3. I think seeing these 5 in in the levels leaderboards would be good (I intend to, once I have some free time again, university can be a bitch, submit a caves 4 run to the leaderboard).

Personally, while I don't think the sections idea is necessary, it being covered sufficiently by the individual levels or the full run, I'm certainly not opposed to the idea.

Yeah I agree, I saw the run that's listed right now and also felt that restarting the level was a bit of a faux pas, but I elected not to mention it primarily because in theory if the run becomes optimised enough then you shouldn't be able to get a world record with a death in it anyway.

Honestly I'm on the fence of whether I think a death with restart level should be allowed, I could really be swayed either way.

The rules aren't clear, are we allowed to kill the creatures that have the "doesn't count as a kill" mark on them, making the category first and foremost a "get the heart and spade for every level" category, which is what the name 100% seems to insinuate?
