I read in several threads that camera recordings of a run are fine, but does the timer need to be shown on screen or is the linked LiveSplit data enough?

Long time enjoyer of speedruns, and I finally decided to start running games myself. I could use some advice on choosing a game though. I'd like something on PC that still has an active community that can be completed in under an hour.
