Discovered by yisk, facing the opposite direction before touching a portal causes Harry's hitbox to trigger the end of the level earlier. We don't exactly know why this is the case, but it saves a decent amount of time across the run. It seems to only be viable in levels where you approach the portal from the side. Below is a run with it done in multiple levels:

This is huge and also gaming!

Hi, sorry for the very late reply. Basically your best bet is to not mash E on finishing the level. Doing it too fast tends to cause the load glitch.

Data gathered on emulator about level scores, should be helpful for Max Rank runs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xMUr_3AWy6EFFEzpbOt0qWhaLwiQgy71ueDsr-xhk9A

Well, doing the flag proxy isn't recommended until you're at a very high level. But in general for boosteds, did you watch the videos I linked?

I still don't understand which uppercut you're talking about. Could you provide a timestamp?

Where exactly is this? I assume you're talking about a boosted uppercut, but I can't think of any that are at the beginning of the run. Here's a few videos that might help you on that tho:

Generally if you suggest a category, it's recommended to also include video footage of you (or someone else) doing a run of said suggested category. Your suggestion is much more likely to be taken seriously if you actually provide proof that you're interested in it, and a video is a good way to do that. I'm not gonna argue whether or not the category should be added, but just thought I'd throw in some "advice"

Heyo!

ESA Summer 2018 was the first on-site gaming event I've ever attended. I stayed for 3 nights, so my experience wasn't "full", but here's my thoughts:

The venue was quite honestly amazing. I was surprised by how much the organizers managed to fit in there, without making it messy or narrow. Access to everything was simple and well organized. The free stuff was of course a sweet cherry on top?

Atmosphere-wise I couldn't ask for much more. It was everything everyone hyped it up to be. I felt at home as soon as I arrived. Everyone was super chill and friendly.

The only minor negatives I can think of are:

-Chat moderation. It seemed at times a bit too strict, and at some points a bit lazy. No disrespect to the people moderating of course, but some decisions in chat were a bit strange.

-Badge control. People from outside the event are bound to enter the arcade area or the gaming area, but nobody should have to be afraid of their stuff being stolen or messed with. Some sort of security near entrances would help, especially with common badge checks.

All in all the event was one of the best experiences of my life. All the people I met, including making new friends, all the new speedgames I witnessed and got interested in, and all the support from everyone there made those days incredible.

Thanks for ESA Summer 2018, and see you next summer!

I know I'm not a part of the UYA moderation team, or even too much of the RaC community for that matter, but generally if you suggest a category, it's recommended to also include video footage of you (or someone else) doing a run of said suggested category. Flower's 12 Levels run clocking in at 3:41 has raised a lot of suspicion ever since it was submitted.

The run description stated: "not a splice on 'Ninja on the bridge', just a reset so as not to die of spikes".

This immediately caused suspicion towards it, due to the comment seeming very defensive, and there being no need to reset there. The run wasn't properly investigated until today, and sadly the footage seems to be spliced on the very spot the runner mentioned in their description.

The music is always the same in the game, no matter how many times you reset, die etc. The way the splice was caught was by comparing the music to the second place run, where it skipped slightly ahead at that point.

The run is removed from the boards, but if Flower can provide a full local recording of this, or other definitive proof that the run is legitimate, it will be added back. If Flower is unable to do so, the run will remain absent from the boards.

I recommend reading Jezs' guide, but as a general note, any sort of video will do. Screencap, phone camera, anything that is clear and steady.

@Die-no-mite Both ESC+ESC and ESC+N trigger the glitch, just make sure to not refresh your game

This has been proposed, for now there isn't real need.
