Oh dang so he doesn't have any depth. So if I want to blitz or neutral him I am better playing top maybe. That really helps me understand thanks alot man. I will mess around with it RN thanks man!

Oh BTW I got my S video mod finished and working perfectly and ended up ditching the GV usb2 for a retrotink 2x mini and a cheaper HDMI cap card and it's close to being as good as I will probably care to get my capture for a while. Thanks for helping me understand that too. Everyone that I've interacted with that runs this game has been very helpful and generally pleasant to deal with.

How do we find out what Vehelits's hit box looks like? This is something emulator's can do right? It feels like the consequences of collision with Vehelits are random. I've been playing long enough to learn things that mostly work, but I don't understand a lot of times when Max's attacks miss. Does Vehelits have periodic I frames or is there something I don't understand about his hit box?

Don't worry King, I had a brief moment of panic but after getting home and watching the run it made me really happy that you're grinding this category, and after seeing all of the mistakes you made I'm confident I will beat all of you! I just need a little more time!

Until then, who will get sub 16 first? You guys probably know where my money is.

Side note: The internet is weird fellas. A Slav, an Englishman and an American shit talking over a 20 year old game basically in real time. IDK, it's a very new thing and isn't part of our collective unconscious yet I guess. It's an odd feeling. I should have my analysis of iOpa's run up on youtube in the next few hours. Peace out.

Yeah I've been playing around with souther doing the punch then tackle. I feel like it's best to try and catch him but if he lands a bit out of reach punch and thunder tackle. I'm emotionally spent after learning about king iopas PB in this category so I'll have more to say once I've gathered myself lol.

I started to leave a bunch more comments on your vid but figured this was a better place to discuss. I didn't realize you could reset the combo when punching Electra and Barbon so quickly.

The Jet fight looks RTA viable.

I think I need to switch back to sword strats for Vehelits.

I'm a fool for elbow dropping and grabbing Metal.

There is SO much RTA time on the table for 4 elevator.

Abadede fight had mad swag points.

I need to use neutral special more.

Time on the table for R Bear.

I wonder how consistent we can get that Souther strat.

I need to practice that Vulture thunder tackle.

This is a treasure man I really appreciate you putting the work in on this. This is the type of stuff that ends up in Summoning Salt videos lol. History in the making.

Man I've got to start checking these forums more. So I've got it working and figured out how to make my own custom skin. I'm coding now, lol. I'm basically the dude from... well that 90's hacker movie with Halle Berry and wolverine guy. Swordfish or something like that.

Anyway after a lot of research and messing around with it I've made one like Antho described and mounted it in an enclosure. It is working and I'm using it in my videos but I didn't really finish it because I looked at it and realized I didn't care for using the splitter cable and all the adapters. To be clear I don't want to deter anyone from using the retrospy method, it will be totally reliable. I'm just obsessive so I've got a bunch of stuff on order to make a better one in a smaller enclosure, and make the one I have slightly more proper. The next one will have proper panel mount DB9 hookups and be soldered point to point using this 8 wire cable I ordered. I've got some leds, resistors and toggle switches OTW so I can make a power switch with indicator light on the enclosure.

Oh BTW I show it at the end of the max very easy PB I just submitted. Here's the link.

I'm basically going way too far with it and spending too much money but the result is going to be the best Sega Genesis input viewer that's been made, at least until someone proves me wrong. If anyone gets hung up on this or needs help don't hesitate to reach out. I think I know most of what there is to know about it now. Just not competent on making the skins but if you know how to use any photo editor you can stumble through it with a little common sense. After I finish the 2nd prototype I'll make a video about it and will have a lot of the materials if anyone want me to make them one. Hit my DMs or whatever or I'll try to watch the forums more closely since people are responding to my questions.

Oh what up Antho! I'm honestly not too fussy about A,B and C as long as they work reliably. The D-pad is what it all comes down to. I just got a box of 9 "broken" controllers off ebay and aside from some of the cables needing work most I've just cleaned and resurfaced the rubbers and they're fine. Here's the thing, no two are alike. Even within the categories of "shiny" and "matte" D-pads they vary wildly in construction and how they play. I'm still using the same crummy one with the super loosey goosey shiney D-pad and as long as I can keep working rubbers in it I'll just keep using it and looking for similar controllers. Thanks man I wish more people discussed the minute aspects of running this game.

Shouts out to the facebook speedrunning group. A dude in there sent me what seems to be the answer. I'm betting retrospy is the solution most sega console guys use. Any way I'll order all the stuff soon and maybe film putting it together for dorks like me that dont know this stuff. It looks like aside from the stuff you buy from them and the materials they tell you to get you need soldering iron, shrink tube, multimeter, wire strippers, junk like that. I have all the tools and a meager amount of confidence with working on electronics. They send you all the instructions so I think I'm set. It looks like I'm going to have to spend less money than I would have anticipated too. If theres a similar post let me know but im going to try to document this since I struggled to find info, at least initially.

So anyone of you that know me probably have guessed that I spend a good bit of time trying to spruce up my overlay and improve audio and camera and all that. I'm trying to research what it takes to capture your inputs (playing on console) and display them in obs. Anyone know who makes the hardware to do this? Google isnt helping me so far. Thanks in advance!

Hey, im sorry if this has been covered im just having a hard time finding any info. Is there any detrement to running on switch? Im a SOR2 guy but love streets 4 and dont have a computer that could play this game much less while running obs. Anyhow just curious if theres a reason people might shy away from running on switch. Thanks.

So I'm trying to talk to my fellow SOR2 runners about controllers. This is the best place to do so as far as I can tell. If you don't know I'm a Max guy and I play on console. I learned the game on one of the smooth plastic dpad controllers (3 button). It's really loose, has a long throw and wears due to bad design, so my dpad is pretty much a floppy mess but aside from a few dropped inputs I play well enough with it. I ordered a few controllers from ebay and they are the matte black dpad (3 button as well). So the dpad is really tight and responsive, has a shorter throw, and doesn't wear due to a steel spherical pivot point in between the plastic parts. Seems like it would be the superior choice but after several hours of attempts it's like I have to re-learn the timing for all of the punch locks and boss strats and so forth. So my questions are:

What do you guys like?

Should I go back to the worn out dpad that works for me?

Will I be better off in the long run learning the game with the superior dpad?

Are there other controllers I should look into like the 6 button variations?

I've talked to Philly Joe who runs Skate and his take was stick with what works but if it would be better in the long run to get used to something different I'd rather do that.

I know I'm probably overthinking this but SOR2 is my hobby. Other than family and work it's pretty much my main focus lol.

Thanks Mate. I was more concerned with being rude by making much better SRO2 runners watch too many of my videos lol. I'll just try to submit when I have a time that will change my ranking and start there.

Hey First off I submitted a run earlier today and the time was 24:09. Just reject it if you like I'm about to submit a better time. That gets me to my question. If i'm grinding a category is it uncouth to submit a run everytime I get a PB? Would it be best if I wait until I get a run that advances my position? I ask because I know someone has to review all this stuff and I want to be respectful of their time. I'm Scott by the way and I played this game a lot as a kid and just recently picked it back up. I'm grinding Max very easy and hope to eventually go for WR if I can stick with it. I got into speedrunning SMB about a year ago and just started running SOR2. It's a lot more fun lol. But yeah nice to meet yous guys and feel free to say hi!

P.S. the time I'm going to submit tonight/tomorrow morningish is 23:46. Please don't reject that one lol.
