Time between first in game action, clicking the "The Current State of Ming Affairs" and completion, is more like 8s.

You have to take all the money (make them take a loan). And this is NOT made clear in the run.

It is possible to improve it. By grating and retracting land from the vassal. You could pass ALL the monopolies multiple times. Eventually the subjects would have to much liberty desire but its definitely still improvable.

Appologies. I thought that the rejection of the original didn't go though or something (due to some weird stuff on my end). I have resubmitted this for you and will check it now.

They arn't technically a tag. Just as cosmetic change. Its an idea, but becomes a question of where does the line get drawn for "take decision X" type speedruns, if they arn't actually for forming tags. I personally think that opening the gates to all "take decision X" type speedruns would be a poor idea. Imagine them all... "Declare restrain of appeals", "Adopt the title of Khalifa", .... so very many of them.

With a lucky breech you could save a fair few months.

And while we're at it, could I get everyone's opinion on the vampires quest? Since the category is now called NMG, it might be reasonable to allow it.

If the category is becoming NMG I'd support allowing it (Skipping the vampires [just enter and exit winecellar, no combat needed]), and stealing the control cube, and portal hireling stuff (I don't think they are a major glitch).

Anerag, why do you think stealing shouldn't work outside shops? The game manual says:

"Stealing Characters with the Stealing skill can attempt to lift items and gold from people and creatures. To have the active character attempt this, Ctrl-click on whomever you want to steal from. A failed attempt to steal can have all sorts of negative consequences, so be careful whose gold you take."

It even mentions creatures explicitly. So unless there are creatures in shops,...

I see it as the same as the other issues of 'intention' vs 'game as published'. I don't have strong feelings one way or another on the issue, but do like having well defined and consistent rules.

(What I see as the game's) Intentions: 'Kill the monsters in the wine cellar' 'Don't use (Master level) portal to escape combat'

Game as published: 'Just enter and exit wine cellar' 'NPCs bypass the spell description (or are actually GM not M level)'

One more question.

Does using the portal hireling when surrounded by monster count as a bug/glitch?

The master version of the spell says "Does not work while hostile monsters are nearby". And it enforces this rule on party members casting the spell.

The gatemaster hirelings say "I've learned to cast it at master level. I'll cast it for you up to once per day if you hire me". However, the no hostile monsters nearby limitation does not get applied to the hireling version of the spell, and so seems bugged/an-exploit. I suspect this was overlooked with the skill system change from MM6 to 7 and the extra GM rank when the code for the hireling was copied across.

Hail,

I am thinking of attempting the new category, but am wondering how it works when some of the awards are mutually exclusive. For example, if you do path of light you can't get the path of darkness ones? Similarly the "fort riverstride and Lorean Steele" quests give awards, with different ones depending on if you do the 'real' or 'fake' versions.

Is there a list of what constitutes "all awards"?

At least I can confirm that completing the optional 'steal the tapestry' quest (if you accept Malwicks deal for the wand and do the follow-up quest) does NOT give an award, so you don't need to do that.

Kind Regards.

My apologies for the two questions in quick succession, should have also asked in the earlier post.

What about blaster-haste-0-cooldown?

No duping. I don't see how you'd benefit from that anyway.

Without the wishing-well to abuse (at least as easily, and anywhere near as quickly, need to have and recast GM Protection from Magic), money may be a limiting factor. It is a very quick method for generating functionally limitless money.

Could I ask for a ruling on item duplication using the arbiter; is to be considered a glitch for the glitchless category?

It isn't currently listed in the rules, but the rules list does say it is non-exhaustive.

I demonstrate the save/load door/item interaction exploit, explain how it works, and that I don't like it, then immediately load back to a save from before it was used. (Timestamp 11:56, ).

My position is that loading back to before it is used means I am just functionally wasting some 30 seconds of my run time - doing the explaining - and that reloading to before using an exploit means no exploit was used in that run.

I would draw your attention to what you posted in the other forum: "As for the 7 hour run, it was submitted before the glitchless category was created. It most likely belongs in glitchless. I'll try to sort that out."

That said you are the admin, if you don't think that showing the exploit but loading to before it was used keeps to the spirit and/or letter of the rules. I respect the ruling.

I genuinely tried to play the game though as quickly as I know how while explaining things. It was a real effort on my part, and it is honestly a little hurtful to suggest otherwise. I'm not as good as many of the very skilled and dedicated runners that have times on here that amaze me. But I did genuinely try to play the game - a game I love from my childhood and re-visit every couple of years - though as quickly as I know how and to share that experience - and perhaps even love of the game - with my viewers. I hope someone makes a submission to the new category. I might even take another go at it.

Seeing as you have created an glitchless category, could my Dark Side Run be added to that category?

South Australia, AustraliaRygelXVI5 years ago

I suppose it might also be possible to also create band categories: Collect the Trumpet, Pipes, and Lute and play them with different characters? Maybe?

South Australia, AustraliaRygelXVI5 years ago

MM6 has different categories for Good and Bad endings, so I figure why not try and get the same thing happening for MM7 rather than just path of Light (Good) ones. So I posted a - admittedly horrendously slow - Dark side play-though to get the ball rolling. Hopefully this will give the actually good speedrunners at MM7 some motivation to play the other path out and post some awesome new content. :)
