I think having different categories for each route would be too much, just given how many different routes there could be (assuming we're counting "routes" as which character you select each mission), but yeah, I think a Main Character category (e.g., you have to play as Asta and only Asta during Asta's story) and an Any% category (i.e., you can play as anyone) would make sense.
Honestly, because that's the only stage that seemed worth running. If you would like to run other stages, send me a message and I'd be happy to discuss it :)
I assume you're using an emulator? Which emulator/version are you using?

Interesting. Can it be emulated on VirtualBox or on 10 with XP compatibility mode?
I was able to get it to work without a virtual machine (just on my Windows 10 laptop). I think the key thing was to change my system locale to Japanese before unzipping and installing it.
Once you join the server and select the Digimon role, a Digimon category should appear on the left-hand side; in that category, check the #typing channel, and we can help set you up from there :)
I don't know if Zaanga still has interest, but I also think a NG+ category has merit.
While having an on-screen timer is helpful, it isn't mandatory for console runs of this game.
The rules state, "Timer is Highly recommend for Console runs, but required for PC runs."
As far as getting the time for yourself so you know what to submit, like Daniel said, I would just use a stopwatch (like what many phones have) or the like.
Request sent
A lot of people use OBS ( https://obsproject.com/ ) to record and LiveSplit ( https://livesplit.org/ ) for their timer. Along with the official FAQs for each software, you can find plenty of tutorials for each online :)
I haven't had any luck yet. I got the DLC for myself and, without fiddling with any settings, went into the first mission of Infinite History, and the dialogue bug happened to me, too. It would be incredibly useful, but I don't know how to, like...carry that property out of the DLC and into the main game. I think that mission is just bugged and it's an isolated thing.
I hope I'm wrong, of course, but I don't yet know how to take advantage of it for the main game.
