I would just like to have one place to share some changes I would love to see to the FFC leaderboards but would like everything posted in one easy to read location, instead of relying on a couple of peoples' opinions on Discord, only for it to get buried a day later.

  1. Unban DLC: It is extremely difficult not to have access to the DLC due to the simplicitiy of wiimfi. Nowadays all you need to do is change your DNS or possibly reset your friend id if you played the game prior to nintendo wifi shutting down (in that case you likely already have the DLC). If all else fails one can also just use a save file with the DLC already as most people play with emulator or those that don't might have a R4 card.

  2. Combining NG+ IGT and NG+ RTA: I think these two leaderboards should be combined as they are effectively the same category. The reason they are separated is due to the long history of the category and its use of IGT. I believe that both categories should be combined and use both timings but prioritize RTA (see Any%). There are some downsides which are mostly caused by IGT being slightly inconsistent but luckily no one loses any placements on the leaderboard and it makes it easier to keep improving (seconds are easier to improve on than IGT minutes).

  3. New category for postgame: Most games have one, and FFC has a lot of post game content that rarely gets replayed such as the new cups. The biggest challenge would be defining what one would consider a completed post game. 230 fp? All missions cleared? With or without DLC? Just the post game cups? Post game cups then Joe?

  4. A medium sized category: I think a great idea would be defeating all post game significant story characters. This might take 20-30 minutes but could be extended if don boneyard and egg-xact timing are included. Perhaps an entirely different objective to make a 30 minute to 1 hour speedrun? This duration seems to be the sweetspot that several speedrunners crave. Of course something like this would likely just be another side category.

Please share your thoughts, I would like to have a conversation so we can have somewhere that clearly states how runners feel about possible new changes to make it easier to implement new changes in the near future. If there is something that I missed or something that you would like to have or something that you don't like about the leaderboard, please share those thoughts too.

I didn't make this post because I doubted any of the times of current runners or had a grudge against anyone. Past record holders seemed to all have very extensive knowledge of this game. It's unfortunate that you don't have an easy way of recording an entire run and I wish you the best should you consider recording lengthy runs in the future. I understand that I also have an old time on the leaderboard with very poor proof, which may seem a bit hypocritical (although I submitted that run a few years ago). The method I used is through an Action Replay cheat code that changed my IGT to around 1hr 50min. There are already cheat codes that you can find online that change your IGT, so a code like that can be easily modified to whatever value you want. You don't need an Action Replay either. You can cheat on emulator, export the save file, then copy it over to a cartridge using 3DS hacks.

This complaint only applies to the NG+ category which states: "Runs under 2 hours shall include full video which starts before creating a new save optionally with clear data from an existing save file, and end after the final save file time." This is an issue because no runs are even close to sub 2 hours (the fastest being a 2:15). Because of the lack of high standards for runs, very few runs on the leaderboard have complete video footage that stands today (the fastest time with great proof that I could find was a 2:48 by iNoja which places 13th out of 21 on the leaderboard). This does not apply to the Any% category as the rules state: "For all runs submitted or verified after January 1st, 2020 and timed below 4:00:00 (4 hours): Proof shall consist of a single segment video starting from when a new save file is created without using clear data, and ending after showing the final save file time following the ending cutscene." As expected, all submitted runs in this category that are faster than 4 hours of IGT have complete video proof. Video proof is great not only for proving a run's legitimacy, but to allow for an easier barrier of entry for the category as new runners can watch runs by top players to help themselves improve. To help prove why record contending runs without complete video proof can ruin a leaderboard, I created this video: . As you can see, my run follows the rules of the category, and beats the WR by 14 minutes. Many ways can be used to cheat in the game with modern knowledge such as tampering with the save file's IGT, setting text speed to instantaneous, editing warp point values, or even using 255 point miraculous fossils to outspeed opponents in some battles or guarantee some KOs. Even the categories' own rules can be easily broken by using DLC vivos without getting caught. I believe the rules for video proof for sub 2 hours NG+ and sub 4 hours Any% came from a time where the game's limits were less known and those barriers were expected to be reasonably beaten by top runners. Now I believe is a great time to reconsider the rules for NG+ and change video proof for new runs to at least sub 2:30. Even if the rules do not get changed, I plan on running this category and submitting runs with complete video proof. Thank you for taking the time to read my long post.

Ok, so I wondering what should be done if someone playing this game were to discover a huge gamebreaking glitch / exploit on a track. Would it be accepted on regular leaderboards? Or would it have its own category? Or just not allowed? Also what would be the fate of the full-game leaderboard?

I personally believe that if a glitch like that were to be discovered on a track it should have its own glitch category, as well as the full-game leaderboard.

Also, there are tougher difficulties that have higher speeds and more laps and I believe that they could have interesting new strats and vehicle choices and would like to know if new leaderboards for those difficulties would ever be considered to be implemented some day.

Hi, I submitted an Office run and the leaderboard is showing my time in second place, despite it being the fastest time there. I believe this is happening because the second fastest time there includes a category for in-game time, which takes priority over all of the other runs, all of which don't have anything written in that category. As such, I believe that if for example I were to submit a ten minute Toy Room run that includes in-game time, I would be incorrectly ranked first.

The leaderboard in question is located here: https://www.speedrun.com/hwmr/Office

Thanks for your time and hopefully this issue will be fixed.
