Hey, I corrected "Time" field - it's the real time it took you to finish the run, which was slightly under 4min 39sec
Hey, it's a cool trick, I was wondering if it's possible to use it in a major way!
I guess we'd need another category for such runs, where pausing is used to levitate & catch rocks. That one should stay glitchless & without expoints. Plus your run's real timer is around 3:11 (start at 0:10 and ends at 3:21).
Let me create Any% categories for each level. I'll also try to define some ruleset, feel free to give your input!
Hi,
The game isn't available via Microsoft's site anymore, but a fellow named Lucas C has managed to patch the installer for modern systems.
MS Plus full installer with Labyrinth Plus! included:
https://lucasc.me/post/microsoft-plus-patched-installers
....and that's it, if you want to play the base game on Win10 / Win11.
Bonus Addon pack (adds My Labyrinth mode with 20 extra levels)
In case you're having trouble getting Labyrinth Bonus Addon Pack to work (like I had), here's a Youtube guide showing step by step how to install it:
If you can't watch this for whatever reason (it might be gone in a couple of years), here's the guide:
- Download the addon pack from Microsoft's website:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/plus/LABBONUS/1/WXP/EN-US/PlusLabyrinthBonus.exe
-
Try to run it
-
If it shows an error - "Error creating process (...) cannot find the file specified", then don't close this window
-
Keeping the error window open, go to:
c:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\
Note: if the last folder - IXP000.TMP doesn't exist, go ahead and create it, then close the error message and open the installer again
- Double click the Patch003.msp file, which should be located in c:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\
Note: If that method doesn't work, you can open the installer with 7-Zip, unpack the file to any location and run it from there.
Cheers!
Hey! I had no idea about right-click, that's probably pretty useful, might run again :D Yes, I've set sensitivity to reasonable levels. I've spent years searching for this game's name and finally found it. I have version patched for Windows 10 and it's still pretty buggy... can't change resolution, got black screen on the 2nd monitor, and sometimes loading into level causes black screen until I use Alt+F4. Still, it's so fun! Thanks!
Hey, could there be a glitchless category for each level? One that doesn't allow going through walls etc.
Oh, alright, I am pretty new to speedrunning, didn't know that most games are cool with submitting the first run after reset. Although regarding Rank 1 vs 25000 - I still think that it's nitpicking a bit ;) Thanks!
Well, the rules are made up and the scores would stay the same when counting the moment of getting above 25000 - it would just prevent pointless disqualifications if someone forgot to reset after getting 25800.
Regarding RNG manipulation - how about a requirement to record the video of 1 test run before starting the actual one?
Oh, I had no idea. That makes Level 6 much easier, I just kept trying and hunting the dragon while dodging everything else before I collected the secret.
Had a couple of runs, but I still need to improve Level 6 - for some reason I always get double spawn of blue fast bastards on my way after the Dragon, even before killing Grim Reaper. What is the logic behind your suicide in Level 6? The letter appears, you die, the letter disappears, and you still pick up Super Scroll.
Also, meanwhile I made a new version of enemy info pic:
Also, why aren't fractions of a second visible? The scores are very close to one another.
Hi, If I've ran a couple of attempts already without restarting the game and have a top score above 25000, is the end of the run the first frame after score rises above 25000? Or are consecutive attempts not allowed and I need to reset the game if I get a high score? Thanks, Paszq
I don't mean to create 100% accurate guide step-by-step, just maps with general pointers, reminders and some reference for practicing. Ex. which creatures should be skipped on certain levels or where to look for them.
Just curious, do you know the logic behind Giant Armadillo spawn? I know it spawns to the right of the level if you walk around, but I've spent there like 7 minutes walking left and right before it finally appeared.
Would be really cool. I prepared a WIP version of Level 1 map with few tips. Triggers are places you need to walk to from the Shop in order to make the creature spawn.
What do you think?
Hi,
I am working on a little complilation of some basic but useful information regarding enemies - so that everyone's using the same names, because honestly I have no idea what to call some of them or which one is which. Here's a link to WIP version, do you have any suggestions on what else to include? Like a short note whether the creature explodes when it reaches an edge or creature's flying pattern?
I took some names from petaQ's Google doc.
I could also try creating a basic level guide, with maps showing spawns and important spots (secrets, places to go in order to spawn certain creature, banks)
Thanks, Paszq
